On November 13th I attended a play, Letters Home, performed by the Griffin Theatre Company, that detailed the lives of different US soldiers in the Middle East through a series of their actual letters in a compilation of monologues. While the majority of the letters were written by soldiers to their families back home, one of the most striking elements of this production was its inclusion of letters from the families to or about the soldiers in their lives. In one particular scene, Sgt. Cory R. Mracek, of the 82nd Airborne Division, US Army, was killed in action.
