I believe the ideal father should be the child’s hero, inspiration, and role model. The characteristics of a dad should be trustworthy, honest, protective, and fun. A father to a young boy should portray what a man should be and made of. A father to young girl should show her how a man should treat a woman, and should be the first man she falls in love with. The father in a child’s life should also be supportive in any and everything the child does.
In my opinion a good role model as a father would be Daniel Gibson. He is a good role model because he puts his child first and everything else second. Like when his wife Keyshia had a false alarm and he left his basketball game to go be with her at the hospital. Or like when Daniel lost the playoffs he stated he was kind of happy because now he has more time with Keyshia and Daniel Jr. In my opinion that is what a good father does.
On the other hand a bad role model to me is Joe Jackson. I think he was a bad role model because he thought having money and fame was more important than his children’s own dreams and interests. Also, because he took his owns dreams and forced them on his children even if the children wanted something else. He has stated many of times that money and shows and fame was the most important…even more important than SCHOOL! He also took whooping and showing discipline to his children took an extreme where he not only hurted them dangerously in a physical high but also an emotionally high. To me this is what a bad father is.
In conclusion, I want a family someday. I hope that my children’s father is everything that my kids want him to be. I hope he puts his family first like Daniel Gibson does. And not be mean and cruel like Joe Jackson was to his children. I pray that my children’s father will give our children the world and beyond. My children’s father should be not only good to my children but good to me.
