...Multinational Italy 2008 The “Multinational Italy 2008” survey by ICE examines the activities of multinational companies that involve the domestic economy: the Italy-based multinationals and their foreign subsidiaries and the Italian firms in which foreign-based multinationals hold an interest. The sectors considered are: extraction and manufacturing; energy, gas, water; construction; wholesaling; logistics and transport; telecommunication services; software and IT services; other professional services. There are 7,152 Italian investee companies in which 3,961 investor companies own equity. Their employees in Italy total 852,741, while 2006 revenues of the investee companies was € 429,512 million. Controlling interests predominate, in this case, involving 92.1% of the companies, 91.1% of the employees, and 89% of total revenues. The foreign companies invested in Italy operate primarily in the service industries. The growth of investments in logistics and transport and in professional services reflects the trend of new infrastructure and the transition to services in the economies of the major industrialized countries and, at the same time, expresses the competitive superiority of international businesses in those sectors with respect to our companies. The wholesaling sector is also expanding, though at a slower rate, and is largely composed of the commercial subsidiaries of industrial multinationals. On the whole, however, the IT and telecommunication services sector...

...Secondary Data to Find Your Career Industry Marketing research is a tool used to determine the best market for launching, products and service. It can help to determine if the venture will be profitable of a fiasco. I believe that it can determine if a fad will become a basic staple or remain a passing fad and I believe all of that can be determined from market research that taps into individuals wants and desires that are felt so strongly the feel as if they are needs. And so I believe that market research can inspire parents to influence students to become all they can and compete in our job force to make a valuable contribution to our society. In my mind education has become a business along with that statement comes the revelation that it is a business that our country is failing to excel in because it has become so much of a business that we are not educating our children at a level that will allow them to compete in our markets to fill job openings. We need marketing research to helps us “prioritize the more important and pressing problems selected for solution, reach the best possible solution based on the information available, implement the solution, modify the solution when additional information so dictates (Danaher, Hardie & Putsis, 2001)” (Al-Shatanawi, Osman & Halim, 2014, p. 151). I believe that preparing today’s youth to be tomorrow’s leaders through education should be a top priority for every American citizen and marketing research and presentation...

...Preprosthetic and Implant Surgery espite dentistry's improved ability to maintain dentition, many individual continue to require replacement of some or all of their teeth. Surgical improvement of the denture-bearing area and surrounding tissue (preprosthetic surgery) offers an exciting and demanding challenge to the dental practice. Many minor modifications of the alveolar ridge and vestibular areas can greatly improve denture stability and retention. In some cases, patients have severe bone changes or soft tissue abnormalities that require extensive surgical preparation before the prosthetic appliance can be properly constructed and worn. Procedures that improve prosthesis retention and stability are discussed and illustrated in Chapter 13. One of the most exciting frontiers in dentistry is implantology. Proper bony and soft tissue reconstruction followed by placement of implants and subsequent prosthetic reconstruction can provide patients with a more natural and efficient substitution for their lost dentition. Depending on the circumstances, several types of implant systems may be used. Chapter 14 discusses the various types of implant systems currently in use and their advantages, disadvantages, and indications for use. 247 Preprosthetic Surgery Mark W. Ochs and Myron R. ...OPEC OIL IN 2010: ECONOMIC EVENTS, TRENDS IN DEMAND AND SUPPLY AND IMPACT ON PRICES Etuwat James J.O., American University of Leadership, 2012 1.0 INTRODUCTION This submission is on an organization known by its acronym OPEC but its full name is Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries. The write up seeks to identify economic events related to 2010 that have influenced the trends of the supply and demand of OPEC oil and the impact of these events on oil prices. My focus will be on the period of 2010 and to an extent prior to that year. According to their website (OPEC 2012) , the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) is a permanent, intergovernmental Organization and was created in the Iraq capital of Baghdad after endorsement of accord in 1960 by the founding members, Kuwait, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Islamic Republic of Iran and Venezuela. Others came in later in alphabetical order: Algeria (1969), Angola (2007), Ecuador (1973), Gabon (1975), Indonesia (1962), Libya (1962), Nigeria (1971), Qatar (1961), United Arab Emirates (1967). However, Ecuador deferred its membership in the period December 1992 to October 2007, Gabon ceased its attachment in 1995. Indonesia shelved its commitment from January 2009. At the moment, OPEC has Member Nations. OPEC had its head office in Geneva, Switzerland, for five years since its creation but transferred Vienna, Austria in 1965. The governing charter of OPEC differentiates between the Founder Members and Full Members...

...dollar consequently makes U.S. exports rather less appealing to foreigners and U.S. imports become relatively less expensive; thus, net exports go down. Since 2008, the global economy has gone through significant changes influencing crosscutting growth in all the regions. However, Africa has been resilient in the face adverse challenges such as domestic conflict, worldwide headwinds, and internal supply shocks. Thus, Africa has experienced robust economical growth over the past decade. Africa’s fiscal growth has drastically increased over the past decade. This robust economic growth has seen the continent become a hub of new commercial vibrancy. Figure 1.0 below illustrates Africa’s GDP trends between the years 2001 and 2012, with projections for 2013-2014. The figure illustrates an average growth of Africa’s economic performance since the year 2001, averaging above 5%. It also approximates the growth of North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa averaging at 4.5% and 5.6% respectively. 1n 2011, Africa experienced a notable decrease in growth down to 3.4% from approximately 5% in the previous year; attributed to the Arab civil unrest in North Africa. However, the region recovered strongly in 2012, lifting the continent’s growth to roughly 7%. As Figure 1.0 shows, the economic growth rate...

Methodology/approach: The paper provides an illustration of how the descriptive, exploratory and explanatory type of research is entrenched with the objectives of the research and how the combination of quantitative (statistical regression and weighting/mean ranking) and qualitative (archival analysis, qualitative interviews) methods may enhance accounting research not only from results that corroborate. Findings: The three-fold objective of this study, corresponding to its three phases, illustrates that combining qualitative and quantitative methods involves considerations at each phase of the investigation. The research design shows that when the researcher work with different types of data within the same project, the way data is used varies according...

...and Pakistan, conflict over the inequitable distribution of water between the states or provinces may instigate a war between the two. As populations increase and the availability of water declines, tensions over water rights are likely to rise. Therefore, a proper framework must be set to deal with the situation. At present, irrigation is the main consumer of water. With the aggravating industrialization, the demand for water for domestic, industrial and hydro power needs are also increasing rapidly. The reserves for water are being utilized for a number of purposes. Hence, we face shortage of water. According to the Asian Development Bank report, Pakistan is one of the most water stressed countries in the entire world. According to projections, India will become water stressed by 2025. “Pakistan is likely to be classified as water-scarce soon, and India is set to become water-scarce by the year 2050.” Indus Water Treaty The division of rivers between the two countries is such that the sources of rivers in Pakistan lie in areas under the control of India. Which technically means that India could stop the flow of water to Pakistan at any time, leaving Pakistan’s agriculture based economy in a chaos. The best way to resolve the conflict and to ensure uninterrupted supply of water is to establish confidence building measures. An example of a successful agreement over the use of water is Indus Water Treaty. At the time of separation, the line of partition was drawn right across the...

...1 MINING INDUSTRY - OVERVIEW AND RISKS FACTORS Definition of the Industry The mining industry encompasses a wide range of companies involved in different supply chain positions that represent exploration, development, extraction, processing, refining and sale of minerals and coal. With respect to the diverse set of business factors that affect the mining process, the business risk rating for the mining industry would be best qualified in terms of a credit rating of BBB (low). The justification for this rating follows: a) Higher than average profitability of the industry – related to the need to provide adequate returns on large capital investments b) Threat of competitors is about on the same level as other industries – based on multiple suppliers and buyers and the prevalence of homogenous products (nonbranded) c) Inherent volatility in earnings and underlying cash flows – due to volatile pricing of commodity products and responsiveness to economic cycles d) Above average and increasing prospect of industry regulation e) Above average and uncertain political risk – industry players have to pursue operations where mineral resources are found and in many cases this would include politically unstable regions f) Below average technology risks – due to the basic nature of the materials produced and licensing production technologies and methods among players in the industry 2 The BBB rating is applicable only to industry players...
