... My lesson plan was based on materials the student’s had been learning each week. Since the class I observed was a “Futures in Technology” class, I had to take into consideration the course objective when developing my lesson. I decided on “transportation” because the class previously learned the advances in technology revolving solar energy, computers and cars (private transportation). I thought it would be useful for students to learn how public transportation has evolved as well. Since the class I observed is a part of a gifted program, the structure is different than a regular classroom setting. There is more concentration in having an interactive lesson. I worked closely with the in-service teacher to ensure that I was following her structure. Upon her review of my lesson, she commented that it was well structured considering it was my first time. She liked my “quick reference summary sheet” and said it was a good idea to give student’s a tangible item to follow along with. Unfortunately, I was not able to actually give the lesson myself, again because of the structure and demands of the gifted program.
