Case study: Riding the Plus-Size Wave

Question 1:

Self-concept defines as what are the belief that women have about their own qualities and traits and how they evaluate such. For the self esteem, what is the nature of the positively of plus-size women with respect to their self-concept and for the self consciousness, its about how aware are plus-sized women of how they appear to others and how they fit in relative to other women.

The success that Lane Bryant is currently experiencing in relation to the self concept, self esteem and self consciousness is that the product helps to promote the plus size women. Besides that Lane Bryant launched a new products lines and also promotion campaigns. Based on the case study given, it is said that the company sent message that is not only ok to be a plus size, but that women in this category can be stylish as anyone.

Question 2:

The plus size industry leverage what we know about consumer behavior to address self-esteem issues by having more plus-size models and banning of size zero models in Italy.

In addition, the media should also have positive campaigns for the plus size women. This is to encourage the women with plus size to feel comfortable in their own skin. They should also have the awareness of dangers of eating disorders and pressure for young women caused by media.

Question 3:

This present reality changes that give off an impression of being happening as for media pictures of ladies is on account of there are two bearings that this may go. The western standard is described by the Playboy think about that is highlighted in the part demonstrating the pattern throughout the most recent fifty years has been toward ladies being more slender and more slender, less curvy.

However, information contained in the dualistic marketing opportunity special features that is mention in the cased study, provide a counterpoint to this ideal. The reality is that the average size and weight of women in the United States has been increasing.

For example, Dove’s “ Real Beauty” campaign has been the most famous to take on the supermodel stereotypes that the media has perpetuated for so long. But the information contained in this case is evidence of such.

Question 4:

I reconcile the greater degree of acceptance of plus size women with the parallel emphasis our society continues to place on thinness which is there is evidenced by the billions we spend on diet products, exercise and so on. There is also given the health problems associated with obesity such as heart disease, diabetes and so on.

I think the industry should not continue to encourage this acceptance. This is because the discourage of the unhealthy diets and disorder eating given more health problems such as gastric problems, women tend to lose their appetite on eating properly. They should encourage the plus size women by eating healthy food in a proper order and proper timing to consume the food.

Moreover, they should also emphasize the health and stress over a certain weight or known as BMI. By them emphasizing this health, they are able to less the health problem face by women because of lack of healthy food inside the body of women.

I would like to conclude that media should not be discouraging the plus size women by showing thin women as their model. They should instead put the plus size women as their model of a certain clothing line. This helps the plus size women to feel comfortable about their weight and they wont feel embarrass to dress stylish with a plus size body they have.

Ac504: Ethics

...Assignment I: Tainted Baby Powder Milk 1. Yes, I believe there has been some damage to Baidu.com’s reputation because there was a significant stock price drop from $308 to $110. Stock price drops usually are the result of a lack of confidence by the stakeholders in the future performance of the company. Lack of confidence can often be attributed to actions by a company that are revealed to the stakeholders. 2. Future reputational damage could be reflected by a lack of confidence of the stakeholders. This lack of confidence could be measured in consumer behavior. Consumers could choose to buy goods elsewhere, so as not to risk their family’s health by potential tainting of products. This change in consumer behavior has been demonstrated many times when the media reports a fast food restaurant serving tainted beef, or even the drastic reduction in air travel immediately after the attack on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. Even though, 9/11 was not the direct fault of an airline, consumers feared more attacks and therefore would not travel. This greatly affected profits and stock prices of the airline industry. 3. Baidu must prove to the stakeholders that it is reporting the issue fully and honestly. It is tempting for companies to withhold damaging information, but eventually it will come out and the deception is more damaging to the company many times than the truth ever would have been. The more transparent the company is in communicating the issues, the easier...

...course is worth 3 credits. 3. COURSE DESCRIPTION: National markets are now in a period characterised by ‘exchange relationships’ where the principal focus is on sets of integrated activities geared to serve the interests of the customer first. The role of the marketer, therefore, is to facilitate exchange transactions in an increasingly challenging environment. This justifies the development of an understanding of the micro and macro dimensions of the wider environment as the participant works through the learning activities of this course. Marketers are expected to be receptive to shifts in customer preferences, attitudes, and loyalties to a brand or a product. There is equally a genuine interest in the capacity of markets (consumers) to engage or respond to demand for innovation in product or service characteristics. At the same time developing a coherent marketing plan depends upon a range of skills, insights, and methodologies, but the focus of your endeavours must be crystal...
