Website Review
My daughter is turning twelve years old this year and she wants to celebrate it at a restaurant called American Girl located at the Grove mall. I’ve heard before about this specific store because my wife always buys her Christmas present from this place but didn’t know they had a restaurant. So, I went online to plan my budget for her birthday. The website I visited was www.americangirl.com.
When you go to the website, it’s all pink with a mixture of purple and something that really called my attention is that as a title is has “American girl, follow your inner star” and I think that this gives a very nice messages to little girls who are growing up to be a well rounded ladies. In the front pages it is decorated for Spring advertisement and it is very interactive. I can tell that girls from different ethnic groups are being represented and this makes me think that the little girls who visit this pages to play feel somehow identified or connected to the dolls. The website offers three categories for the visitors: Shop, Play and Stores. Under the shop section, you find all the dolls the company has created and there are a lot of dolls that girls can choose from. I think that all ethnic groups are represented and something very unique about this company is that they have dolls with disabilities as well. Aside from the dolls, the have clothing and dolls are girls outfits and every accessory necessary for this dolls; they even have a hospital for the dolls who needs to be fixed, a hair salon as well, which is an exaggeration; I think they are humanizing these dolls. Something that I was happy to see was a bookstore with a big range of books. Under the play section they have a lot of interactive games for girls to play online but in order to play you actually need to own a dolls, because each doll sold comes with an online code. Under store, you have a list of all the stores located around the US and this is where I found the information I was looking for because all the birthday packages are explained in this section along with the section for hiring. The website is very user friendly for girls and adults because it was my first time visiting and it was easy to find the information I was looking for. The whole website is interactive and the colors, images, and content displayed is very inviting to girls and mothers. In all the pictures you find girls or mothers but not even one is about father, so I fell misrepresented. On a very serious note, this website is targeting people with a high socio-economic background. All products prices are ridiculously expensive, the dolls’ prices start at $100.00 dollars and depending on the collection one can pay from $135.00-$168.00 dollars, the dolls dresses range from $26.00 - $36.00 dollars, it is like buying clothes for my own daughter. I was surprised to find a wardrobe for $300.00 dollars for the dollars, and basically this is how much I could pay for one for my daughter. It’s insane how much parents pay to make their daughters happy and is not until now that I realize that I have a treasure in my daughter’s room because she has twelve dolls and tons of clothing that she has collected throughout the years. We have purchased a few, she has bought some with her saving and the rest she has received them as presents. The whole purpose of visiting this website was to check whether or not I will be hosting a birthday party for my daughter but I found out that I can make reservation for dining for not for birthdays. I have to call a number to actually find about pricing even though the birthday packages are explained. I think I will recommend the company to make it easier but I don’t think I will be able to afford to have a birthday party in this place. I don’t want to imagine how much I would have to pay. I know it will be disappointing for my daughter but my pocket will be happy.

The Impacts of Social Media

...Social Medias Impact on Consumer Behavior With today’s technology the use of social media has taken the world by storm, with millions of people able to rate, review and share opinions on products at the palm of their hands. The high usage of social media sites is creating a new medium for companies to communicate with consumers on a personal level they were not able to years ago. With the usage of smartphones sky rocketing consumers are now able give their “two cents” about products or services the second they experience them. This is an essential element for companies and consumers because social media allows them to view reactions about new products, whether they are negative or positive. Where would you like to eat tonight? Be daring and try the new bistro that just opened down the street or play it safe and go to Applebee’s? This could be one of the most daunting decisions someone may have to make throughout their day. When it comes to where one would like to spend their hard earned dollar on a meal 45% of consumers turn to leading social media sites like Yelp for recommendations (Pann). 57% of consumers rely on the reviews from these sites on restaurants to determine where they will dine that night (Pann). But how reliable are these reviews that consumers are putting such high importance when it comes to their dining experiences? When it comes to the reviews on websites such as Yelp, a recent study by Gartner a tech research company has determined by 2014 that 10%...

How Critical Is User Generated Content for Customer Satisfaction in Accommodation Aggregator Sites?

...satisfaction in accommodation aggregator sites? 34.125 STUs max. Now 25111 + 1600 (2 charts) Introduction and problem formulation: The Internet has grown to be one of the most effective means for tourists to seek information in the planning process of their vacation. Tourists find themselves navigating through an immense amount of information that could be relevant for the planning, which can be experienced as being overwhelming for prospect travellers (Pan and Fesenmaier 2006). In this scenario, aggregator sites enable users to search for content specific for their area of interest, gathering the information needed under a single roof and functioning as an intermediary between prospect travellers and the travel industry. Because of the low barriers of entry, the proliferation of information aggregator sites has created a strong competitive environment, where sites are competing for the attention of customers on the online space. Online customers are characterized as having a short attention span, seeking information on multiple sites, and having a low barrier to switching to alternative sites (Chaffey, 2009). User satisfaction is then essential for the success of an aggregator site, in order to retain customers and to encourage repeated visits to the sites. It is the aim of this paper (mini-project?) to explore the critical success factors for customer satisfaction of accommodation aggregator sites. Accommodation aggregator sites are popular in planning one of the stages...

A literature review as well as, a self-conducted study will be used to address this question. First, literature is presented on what luxury goods are and what factors motivate people to consume luxury brands. Next, research is used to describe the consumers of luxury shopping online. Following this, the literature review covers three dilemmas when using the Internet to sell luxury brands. The first describes whether or not brand integrity is diluted on the Internet because of the ability for everyone to have access to these luxury products. The second dilemma concerns whether or not the sensory nature of the luxury shopping experience can be translated onto the Internet. And the third deals with the Internet’s inherent ubiquity and whether that compromises the exclusivity of what luxury brands stand for. Finally, existing literature is used to demonstrate how to measure service quality on the Internet as well as propose web site design issues faced by online retailers. The following section, Section V, describes the research method used in this study to explore how well the design of luxury e-stores meets customer expectations, while conveying the luxury consumption factors without the sensory aspects of a traditional store. ...Marketing Review 14,5 376 International online marketing of foods to US consumers Gregory K. White Department of Resource Economics and Policy, University of Maine, Orono, Maine, USA Introduction Internet shopping is beginning to show signs that it may live up to its early revolutionary projections. It is now estimated that 23 per cent of US and Canadian residents over the age of 16 use the Internet, and as of March 1997, 17 per cent of this population had used the World Wide Web (WWW) in the previous month. (CommerceNet, 1997) Nearly three quarters of these Web users have searched the Internet for information about products and services, and 15 per cent have made an online purchase. Thousands of firms marketing food and beverages worldwide are among those trying to attract the attention, and buying power, of these Internet shoppers. It is now possible to purchase specialty Italian cheeses direct from a cybershop in Italy or New York. Consumers interested in smoked fish can pay a virtual visit to companies in Alaska or Iceland from their home computers. Internet users are an attractive target group for specialty food and drink producers. Like the overall Internet population, people who visit food and drink sites online are relatively young (median age of 37), wealthier than most (median income of $58,000), and well educated (91 per cent have attended some college and 75 per cent have at least a four-year degree) (White and Cheng, 1996).
