I recently read an article titled The Cook and the Chef: Musk’s Secret Sauce by Tim Urban. The article discusses Elon Musk’s ideologies compared to the large majority; to summarize, there are two types of people in the world: cooks and chefs. Cooks are the people that follow recipes and chefs are the people that invent the recipes. Granted, this is a spectrum, however, there are far less chefs than cooks. The majority follow others; they don’t form many opinions of their own and generally accept the world around them simply because others told them to do so.
I strive not to be a cook simply because following others is boring. There is no risk involved with being a cook: the recipes have already been made, so the chances for failure are minimized.
