The Road by Cormac McCarthy, an American novelist who won the Pulitzer Prize, show a father and his son trying to survive after the end of the world. McCarthy shows that even in the down moments, people can be strong like what happen to the father even in his bad moments, he was thinking about his son. He shows how the father was patience after he loses his wife, the woman and the boy mother, who appears in the man mind and dreams, and she comments suicide after she gives up from the risky world. McCarthy also shows how love is important between the family, and how they need to respect each other. In the beginning. The boy did not believe in guns even in the risky situations. For example, when the man from the gang members saw the boy, he tried to took the boy and kill him, but the father, the man, shouted him in the head. After that, the boy was upset and he did not understand the reason that the father wants to shoot the gang member. The father tries his best to explain, and make sure that his son still believes that they still “the good guys.” Another example that shows the son not believing in shouting was when the man in the building that located in front of the beach shot the father and the son while they were walking with open arrows, but only one of the poisonous arrows lick to the father leg. Even though the father was hurt, he tries to shoot the man in the building with firing a single emergency gun. In the addition, the boy said,” no Papa,” he tried to stop the father from killing the man. Before the death of the father, the boy started to realize how important to keep a gun. One of the moments when the boy understand that he should keep a gun was when the father went to the ship and he was sleeping, and he wakes up to realize everything the have was stolen. In that moments, he understands the importance of the gun, and why he should use it. After the death of the father, the son took the gun and he kept in his pant.
