...Cold Rolling Jeffry S. Asher DT1410 Unit 4 Assignment 2 ITT Technical Institute January 18, 2016 Cold rolling is a metal forming process in which the shape and the structure of steel are altered through drawing, extruding, hammering, pressing, rolling, spinning, and stretching at temperatures below the steel's recrystallization point, usually room temperature. These processes result in changes to the metal's composition which permanently increases its hardness and tensile strength, and improve the surface finish, but decrease ductility and impact resistance. After hot rolling, many steel products undergo a further processing in the cold state. This stage of processing may not necessarily alter the shape of the steel, but it does reduce its thickness and significantly improve its performance characteristics. Hot rolled coil is commonly known as cold rolled, also known as cold reduced. Cold rolling is a process by which the sheet metal or strip stock is introduced between rollers and then compressed and squeezed. The amount of strain introduced determines the hardness and other material properties of the finished product. The advantages of cold rolling are good dimensional accuracy and surface finish. Cold rolled sheet can be produced in various conditions such as skin-rolled, quarter hard, half hard, full hard depending on how much cold work has been performed. This cold working hardness is often called temper, although this has nothing to do with heat treatment temper...

...Headline Aluminium flat rolled products find a variety of applications Published On May 29, 2012 Abstract Besides forecasting demand and supply of Indian aluminium rolled products, we have also explored the entire value chain and estimated the profitability for different players in this industry. Aluminium flat rolled products have diverse applications across various end-user sectors, either as a foil or as a sheet. Key Issues - What are the stages involved in manufacturing aluminium rolled products? - Which are the major end users of aluminium rolled products? - 1 of 4 No part of this Report may be published/reproduced/distributed in any form without CRISIL’s prior written approval. Introduction This report focuses on the aluminium rolled products industry. Besides forecasting demand and supply of Indian aluminium rolled products, we have also explored the entire value chain and estimated the profitability for different players in this industry. In this section, CRISIL Research take looks at the process for producing rolled products and its key applications. An aluminium rolled product is a downstream product formed by rolling aluminium ingots into flat sheets/plates or foils. The aluminium ingot is first hot-rolled and then cold-rolled before it comes out as a flat sheet. It is further processed depending on end-user specifications. Rolled products account for over a fourth of aluminium demand Primary aluminium (in ingot form) is cast into downstream products such as...

...ABSTRACT The main purpose of this research was to examine the teachers’ perspectives in Henry Cort Community College on the use of communicative language games for teaching and learning English. The participants for this study were eight English teachers in the college. A survey using an 18-item questionnaire was designed in order to analyse the participants’ views on the use of communicative language games in English lessons. Results showed that English teachers from Henry Cort Community College generally appreciated the benefits and value of communicative game activities in teaching English language. The findings also suggested that teachers should be aware to take learners’ individual variations into account and be more flexible in the use of communicative game when facing students with different backgrounds, learning styles, needs and expectations in order to maximise the educational effect. INTRODUCTION The ever growing need for good communication skills in English has created a huge demand for an appropriate teaching methodology. Language teaching has seem many changes in ideas about syllabus design and methodology in the last 50 years and communicative language teaching (CLT) prompted a rethinking of approaches to syllabus design and methodology. According to Nunam (1989), traditional approaches to language teaching gave priority to grammatical competence as the basis of language proficiency. They were based on the belief that grammar could be learned through direct...

...Harold and Maude: A Film Analysis In the cult classic Harold and Maude, director Hal Ashby uses cinematic techniques to develop complex characters as a way to drive the plot forward. Many techniques ranging from acting to lighting have revealed different elements of Harold’s character. Bud Cort ―the actor that played Harold in the film, has taken care of his sick father for the majority of his life. At the time the film was shot, his father passed away from MS; Multiple Sclerosis earlier that year. Because of this tragic event, Cort was able to implement an age old acting technique called method acting. Because of his recent encounter with death, Bud was able to communicate to the audience a sense of brokenness and loss that was vital in...

...have severe consequences, including expulsion from a university or loss of a job, not to mention a writer's loss of credibility and professional standing. When citing Use the author-date method of citation when referring to research in the text. For a single author of an article or book, cite the year in parentheses if you name the author in the text. For example: According to Grucza (2010), those with a family history of alcoholism are more at risk for obesity(Cort D, 2014). In addition, if you are summarizing research you should cite both the author name and the date in parentheses. For instance, Recent research suggests that those with a family history of alcoholism are more at risk for obesity (Grucza, 2010). Moreover, everyone must cite both authors' names in your essay every time you refer to their research if the work only has two authors. If a work has three to five authors, cite all the authors the first time you mention their research, but use "et al." after the first author name in subsequent citations (Cort D, 2014). For example, on first reference, you would write, "Kisangau, Lyaruu, Hosea, and Joseph (2007) found...." On second reference, you would write, "Kisangau et al. (2007)...

...Sam Raimi has a very collective résumé, from his most notable and recent films from The Spider-man trilogy to the cult horror classics of The Evil Dead series. Throughout his career, Raimi has developed a style and presence of his own, earning him the right to belong in the category of auteur criticism. Auteur criticism is simply put as when the director has a signature style that he or she brings to the movie upon filming. Raimi’s fascination with films started as he was a child, when his father would use the family video camera to make short films. Seeing how his father was able to manipulate time and space through the use of a camera, Raimi had found his calling (Warren 12). Once following in his father’s footsteps and creating his own short films, Raimi soon began developing a style all his own that would soon captivate the film world (Warren 13). With his style most notable within his early works of The Evil Dead (1981), Evil Dead II (1987), and Army of Darkness (1992), as well as his most recent horror film Drag Me to Hell (2009), it can also be seen in Raimi’s attempt at a western with 1995’s The Quick and the Dead. Set in the 1880’s, The Quick and the Dead begins with The Lady entering an old western town named Redemption, run by the ruthless outlaw John Herod. She enters the town annual contest of a single elimination gun-fighting tournament. Haunted by childhood memories of John Herod manipulating her to kill her own father, she plans to kill Herod, who is...

...The decision making is about both perception and rationality towards the problem or situation. Both decision makings are not perfect in an economic view, and both involve consequences that may arise. The rational decisions presuppose the best possible outcome and also reduce chances of potential risks and biases in the decision making process. Despite its accuracy, most everyday life decisions are made by individual’s perceptions due to its high demand in time and bound rationality. The perceptual decision makings are quick-step thinking process and can be effective in everyday activities. However, these perceptual decisions can be impinged upon the perceptual errors or distortions, leading to failure in selecting right decisions. In economic view, these perceptual decisions can be employed by entrepreneurs or managers to increment their assets of the organisations. Therefore manager should concentrate on both rationality and perception to make more appropriate decision making. The rational decision making is a systematic process in identifying problems and generating most logical, effective choice to address the problem. To make rational decisions, the information must be sufficient and reliable, and low on risk level. The decision’s rationality depends on the specification of models, and different models impose different rational decisions. Managers evaluate these rational decisions and select the optimal decision. Marcel (2011, p. 371) states that a real-life decision problems...

We usually play at the Country Club racquetball corts. You have to pay ten dollars for the court, even if your a member. Some kids think thats awful. But I think its fair. Tuesdays I play with Joe my neighbor and classmate. He's a wild and crazy guy on the courts. Swinging wildly and forcefully he hits the ball so hard sometimes that it makes a whistling noise. As it zooms passed me to smack into the wall. Although we have played racquetball together for two years I have yet to return one of those killer balls. My other steady partner is Jaime. ...The Aluminum Industry in 19941 and Aluminum Smelting in South Africa: Alusaf’s Hillside Project2 1) Is primary aluminum production an attractive industry? Why or why not? Within the framework of the Structure-Conduct-Performance (SCP) model3, the primary aluminum production industry (“the industry”) in 1994 can be described as perfectly competitive. The industry is characterized by a large number of competing firms – the largest of which has only 4.1% of total industry capacity; homogeneous, commodity-type products and low-cost entry and exit into and out of the industry (assuming capital is available where returns are greater than cost of entry). Within the industry, market prices are established via a commodities exchange (the London Metal Exchange, or LME) and individual firms have little ability to set market prices. In a perfectly competitive industry social welfare is maximized – due largely to the lack of product differentiation and the number of competitors, while expected firm performance is normal. In the early 1990’s the collapse of the Soviet military caused Russian and other Soviet State smelters to flood the market with capacity that had previously supplied military needs. During 1993, LME inventories of primary aluminum increased by nearly a million tons, to over 2.5 million tons, while producer inventories increased by over 300,000 tons. This surge in supply & inventory levels drove world aluminum prices to all-time lows - $1,110/ton at the end...
