You probably wish it could happen overnight but in reality it doesn’t. First, everyone is required to take the TASP/THEA test for enrollment. Everyone must pass the test with at least a 76 to start the course. But of course it’s not that simple, hair stylist of course use tools to perform their magic. You must purchase a kit that has all the necessary tools you need. Curling irons, hair straighteners, rollers for perms and mannequins’, and more items necessary are included. Also you must have a cashier’s check to pay for your permit. In the state of Texas you’re required to have completed 1500 hours of class time, that usually takes about four semesters so if you’re not ready to devote your valuable time to this profession then cosmetology isn’t for you. Tuition is also another factor, if you don’t have about $4500 then they will encourage you to sign up for financial aid. Applying for cosmetology you would be surprised to know that you’ll not only be learning about hair but you’ll also acquire the skills of a nail tech and the basics of facials and you can further you education in whichever career you’re working
