...What will he do with this information? A DOZEN big screens hang on the wall. Maps flash. Numbers stream by. The Alibaba Group’s “live data monitoring room” offers a snapshot of frantic activity: Chinese firms trading with foreign ones; Chinese individuals buying clothes from each other. Perhaps half a billion people use Alibaba’s various online services. The group’s diminutive founder, Jack Ma, smiles that business is “pretty good”. Yet he is far from satisfied. In a country where tycoons are often the children of politicians, Mr Ma stands out. He failed twice to get into college. He learned English from the radio. He stumbled on the internet during a trip to America as an interpreter in the mid-1990s. He typed the phrase “Chinese beer” into a search engine. No results appeared. He saw an opportunity. He started Alibaba in 1999, to help small firms find customers and suppliers without going through costly middlemen. Alibaba.com now claims to have 57m users, including some in nearly every country. It is sometimes likened to eBay, but is more like an online Yellow Pages. Related topics * China * Science and technology * Internet * E-commerce * Business Another venture, Taobao.com, sells to consumers. It has 300m customers and shifted $29 billion-worth of goods in 2009. It is like a scrappy cross between Amazon and eBay: it operates an online mall where vetted sellers can hawk their wares, and a site where anyone with a Chinese identity...

The earliest archaeological evidence of palm oil has been found in an Egyptian Tomb in Abydos. These two facts point to two inferences. One, that palm oil production was happening even 5000 years ago. Secondly, as no palm oil was produced in Egypt, this means that Palm Oil trading also was prevalent at that time. Thus, Palm Oil has been used by mankind since historical times. A basic description of the palm oil extraction process is shown below: (Source: Malaysian Oil Palm Publication Annual Report...

...(seekingalpha): "Emerging markets now account for 2 out of every 3 incremental units of PC demand, a shift that's rewarding Intel and the PC companies that have a long-standing, deep presence in these markets". Otellini declared further:" Looking back at the last 12 months of reported data, emerging markets like India and Indonesia grew 22% and 37%, respectively. China, now the largest PC market in the world, represents 20% of all PC demand, and grew a remarkable 15%". The Intel CEO believes that the rapid growth will continue to drive his business in the coming years: "China has a household penetration rate of just 35%, versus almost 90% in the U.S. China is the world's largest market for mobile phones with more than 950 million subscribers. It's also at the forefront of the smartphone boom and will be the home of the world's first 32-nanometer smartphone". These quotes show that emerging markets fuel the growth of the global economy, especially of the technology sector. I believe that this growth will continue many years because of the adaption process in many regions of the globe. The people in China, India and plenty of other countries want to adapt to Western standards of living as fast as possible. The adaption process gets boosted by Moore´s law (wikipedia), which describes the long term trend of rapidly falling prices for technology because of the rapid technological progress. Therefore more and more companies & consumers in the emerging markets can afford to buy computers,...

This is likely to adversely impact India’s export growth in the coming months. However, growth will be only marginally affected by the slowdown in the euro region debt stricken countries as our exposure is low. Software services and other export oriented sectors would benefit from the rupee depreciation. FDI has not been significantly affected by the crisis while the FIIs are showing outflow in the last couple of months. International commodity price moderation is not being translated in domestic prices. Inflationary Concerns: Further, exchange rate depreciation would worsen the inflationary conditions in the economy. Therefore, the RBI would have to continue with its anti-inflationary stance in the near term if domestic conditions do not improve Source: World Bank, Ministry of Commerce, Government of India Interpretation of Graph - Graph 1 show that the share of the euro zone exports to their GDP was around 40% in 2010 and has been around 39% on an average since 2005. ...Crafting strategy Henry Mintzberg (1987) Introduction There are many discussions surrounding the theoretical strategies within business environments, each with its own strong points can have the power to be known as the “best approach”. Over time each strategy is stressed upon establishing why it has superiority over the other. The debated topic is Crafting strategy written by Henry Mintzberg (1987a) which discusses and amplifies its core activity that of learning through small theories and concepts. The article will also analysis the nature of the emergent strategy known as crafting strategy, with focus also on its counterpart deliberate strategy. Finally a conclusion will be given with the strengths and weaknesses of the crafting strategy. The debate According to Idenburg (1993a) there are no grounds for arguments between that of deliberate strategy and emergent strategy as their outlooks into the organisation are different. The essence of Henry Mintzberg assertion lies within the learning spectrum while that of deliberate strategy is within planning (Idenburg, 1993b). Importantly Lynch (2003a) acknowledges that there is no appropriate context in which the emergent strategy lies. According to Idenburg (1993c) the learning process approach states that it is impossible to predict the future yet in Ansoff‘s (1991a) critic study of Henry Mintzberg assertion, Mintzberg is quoted saying that “managers need to be sure and cannot act before they are sure” for this reason...
