In common use today, it refers to an adherent of Hinduism. The two common forms that represent Hinduism are Shaivism and Vaishnavism.[1][2] The Hindu religious texts did not use the term 'Hindu' or an equivalent thereof, or any name at all for that matter to refer to the inhabitants of the Indian peninsula nor the religion of the inhabitants, in alignment within a larger lack of 'proper noun' nomenclature typically visible in texts of Hindu literature. Despite that, the history of the word 'Hindu' is long and its usage widespread, since the outside world had, since antiquity, used several names for the Indian people, specifically for the inhabitants of the Indian peninsula east of the river Indus viz. 'Indos' (Ἰνδός) used by the Greeks in the works of Herodotus and Megasthenes, circa 5th century B.C., and later 'Hindus' used first by the Persians and later on by Arabs to refer to the Indian people and their customs. 2nd century B.C...

...Johnathon Greer Pacific Time JohnGreer@e-mail.phoenix.edu Since the birth of our country the military has had a mainstay of volunteer and drafted troops. This reviews historical aspects of a draft in the United States to discover the differences between a volunteer versus a drafted military in the United States. Although Drafting has been said that it will not ever happen again and that the only way people will be involve will the military is if they Volunteer will that ever change if the United States ever need to take not much of a measure? We will see which one of these choices is better and see if it can change opinions about one another I believe that Volunteer is better just because it gives people a chance to choose it they want to be part of the military or not I don’t think it’s far to draft people that don’t want to fight. When the country drafts people a lot of people run to other countries so they don’t have to go to war because they know they won’t do well or worse. To begin our journey we need to explore when a drafted military first started. In the American colonial period when forces were needed, they would ask every able bodied male to form a militia, in their colony. These militias were organized to protect the colony if a threat presented. At the time America began the Revolutionary War the army was composed of enlisted volunteers. This type of military did not give General Washington, enough soldiers to battle the British army. ...

...PVT KNOX Why planning ahead of time is essential to the mission. The mission is without a doubt the most important thing in the military. In the military there is a plan then there is a backup plan, mainly because the original plan never goes the way it’s intended. As a solider it’s very convenient for a backup plan to be in place seeing as to how things never ever I mean ever go to plan. Getting things to go to plan is to get everyone on the same page by telling them everything they need to know. Where they need to be, when they need to be there and, what needs to be done. If everyone gets the gist of what needs to go down then everything should go smooth right? Nope, everything will more than likely get twisted. Someone will without a doubt mess up the plan. Planning ahead is a common key ingredient to a successful story, no matter what the goal may be. Having a plan will not only help you reach your goal(s), but it can help you stay on track with your goal(s) a lot easier. Something that I have experienced and greatly believe in is having a plan, along with having alternative plans for those times of "just in case." Similarly, Coach Nicole has blogged about developing a Plan B, which has helped numerous people, including myself when times get busy or tough. I'm sure many of you have experienced those times when unexpected things come up and catch you completely off guard. When you have a plan, plan B, and maybe even a plan C, you are more likely to stick with your...

...Market economic system | features, advantages and disadvantages [pic][pic] [pic][pic]Market Economic System The central thought of this system is that it should be the producers and consumers who decide how to utilise the resources. Thus, the market forces decide what to produce, how much to produce and for whom to produce. Features • All resources are privately owned by people and firms. • Profit is the main motive of all businesses. • There is no government interference in the business activities. • Producers are free to produce what they want, how much they want and for whom they want to produce. • Consumers are free to choose. • Prices are decided by the Price mechanism i.e. the demand and supply of the good/service. Advantages • Free market responds quickly to the people’s wants: Thus, firms will produce what people want because it is more profitable whereas anything which is not demanded will be taken out of production. • Wide Variety of goods and services: There will be wide variety of goods and services available in the market to suit everybody’s taste. • Efficient use of resources encouraged: Profit being the sole motive, will drive the firms to produce goods and services at lower cost and more efficiently. This will lead to firms using latest technology to produce at lower costs. Disadvantages • Unemployment: Businesses in the market economy will only employ those factors of production which will be profitable and...

...Looking for shelter I arrived at night, when it was raining. The street was empty; there was not a carriage or light in site. Looking for some shelter I jumped down off my pure black horse and tied it up to the nearest tree and then I started to walk towards the black and rusty gate. I heard a thunder storm heading towards me, so I opened the gate in a hurry. As I did I heard a big long creek. I continued to walk down the muddy and wet path and I saw black crows circling the towers roof tops. I got to the old rotten door and knocked; there was no answer. So I pushed the ancient and rotten door and it swung open. I stepped in side. When I stepped in and a horrible stench came roaring down towards me, I called out “hello” and the only response was the echo of my voice. I started to walk towards the dining area, but on the way I heard a loud bang in a near by corridor. It sounded like something had fallen and smashed then I knew I was not alone. The corridor was completely dark so I collected some dry wood form a near by staircase that had collapsed for a torch, I used what I learnt on the farm to light it. I started to creep towards the corridor with my torch the in my hand, the entrance was made of stone and the half open door that was barely hang on to its hinges looked like it was staring right at me, but I pushed on. As I stepped into the corridor a shiver went down my spine, something was telling me that it wasn’t a good Idea. But something else was louring me in....

...2 Negligence: The Basic Principles of Duty of Care The arrangement of this and subsequent chapters Negligence is a large and amorphous subject, and all parts of the law on it are interlocking. It is often difficult to understand one part without having studied the whole, and therefore in arranging the material I have decided to set out the basic principles first, leaving the more sophisticated developments until later. Accordingly the next three chapters on duty, standard of care, causation and remoteness of damage aim to explain the basic negligence action, principally in relation to an action for personal injuries or property damage where the concepts are easiest to understand. More difficult duty problems, such as liability for statements or for pure economic loss, will be dealt with later. Duty is but one element in the tort of negligence, for it must be shown that not only was the defendant under a duty towards the claimant to be careful, but also that he failed to achieve the required standard of care and that that failure caused the damage, and finally that the damage was not too remote a consequence of the act. Duty is about relationships, and it must be shown that the particular defendant stood in the required relationship to the claimant such that he came under an obligation to use care towards him. This relationship is sometimes referred to as ‘proximity’. In cases of personal injury or damage to property the necessary relationship is established if the defendant ought...

...a Journey Is Not Where You Go, but What Occurs along the Way" Summary: The importance of the journeying process was explored and exposed by Peter Skrzynecki and a variety of other composers. Skrzynecki, using the powerful textual vehicle of poetry explores the importance of the journeying process and its various outcomes, a journey often results in the confused and mixed emotions of the traveller and this was reflected within Skrzynecki's poems, "Crossing the Red Sea" and "A Drive in the Country." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step..." The importance of the journeying process, and the positive and negative outcomes of the journey, is not so much about the destination to which the travellers are headed, but the various occurrences that affect the traveller along the way. In naval aviation, the AWACS (Airborne Early Warning Command and Control System) plane, or Hawkeye, serves as an air traffic controller, monitoring the airspace around a carrier fleet. It is responsible for surveillance of enemy aircraft and ships as well as directing helicopters to survivors and guarding against air collisions. In addition to servicing the Navy, Hawkeye planes have been used in rescue operations of civilians during hurricane evacuations. The purpose of this passage is to: A. Inform B. Persuade C. Describe 2. The pilots of the Hawkeye aircraft are the unsung heroes of naval operations. The first in and the last out, these men receive none of the glory bestowed on the Top Guns of F-18 fame. ...Binasa ko ang isang librong pinamagatang “12 little things every Filipino can do to help our country”. Sadyang simple ngunit napaka-makabuluhan ng mga mungkahi ni Alex Lacson upang ang Pilipinas ay magkaroon nang isang maganda at mayamang ekonomiya. Sa labindalawang mga suhestiyon na ito ako’y inobligahang mamili ng dalawa at isaliwalat ang aking mga pananaw patungkol dito. Isa sa dalawang bagay na pumukaw sa aking isipan ay ang ika anim. Dito nakasaad na “Do not litter. Dispose your garbage properly. Segregate, Recycle. Conserve.”

...Crap Happens People have always preached to me that we all have a sole purpose in life and “everything happens for a reason”. I detest this saying and I hate to admit that it’s true. Everything does happen for reason. We endure so much crap throughout our lives to build us into the people we are supposed to be. Even the smallest events make us stronger; they keep us grounded by bringing our minds back to reality… What a concept, crap happening for our benefit. I’ve learned that life isn’t a fairy tale; it’s more like a boxing ring. Your opponent throws the punches and you either block the punch or your face plummets to the floor with a single hit. Crap happens though, we have no control over that but, we do have control over the will to pick ourselves up by our “boot straps” and keep on rolling with the hits otherwise we’re giving up on everything that we have endured to get where we are now. In 1997 eight hundred and thirty-nine children were reported molested.1 Two little girls I once knew were not on those records, however. They were molested by their godfather in the summer of ‘97 when the girls were only four and six-years-old. Author Edward Rowan, M.D., states that “younger children with fewer defenses and underdevelopment coping strategies are more susceptible to negative aftereffects and may even show significant impairment in personality development”.2 Ever since then they have both been completely changed. Before they were stripped of their innocence life was much simpler...

...How To Reduce Federal Deficits Like most Americans I want to educate myself in ways to reduce the deficit of this nation so I can sleep more sound at night. U.S. federal deficits should be reduced by cutting certain entitlement programs, implementing privatization, and increasing taxes on the rich. In this essay, I will provide hard facts that will not only reduce federal deficits, but also increase productivity and employment. These are specific ways to cut spending and raise revenue. Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security are the three of the government’s most popular and relied upon programs. Congress needs to curb the growth in spending on them and other entitlements. Entitlement programs have accounted for more than fifty percent of the federal spending since the 1980’s. It’s the biggest driver of the long-term national debt. Eliminate all the wast, fraud and abuse you can find. Over eighty billion is defrauded from these programs every year. Cut more out of discretionary programs, that includes defense. All these moves combined may not clear the national debt, but that’s because theyre not the main cause of long-term deficits. With an aging population and rising health care costs which in return there are fewer workers per retiree paying taxes into the programs. As a result speding on medicare, Medicaid, and to an extent Social Security will rise substantially absent structural changes. Most specifically in the way health care is delivered and reimbursed. When measured...

...could not make a believable promise to disgorge the cash. Paying out today's cash balance ($54 million) would not solve the problem. Borrowing and paying the proceeds to shareholders served to reinforce managements's promise not to retain future excess cash. Sealed Air's management faced many alternative uses for the company's cash. Among them were launching a capital expenditure program, buying another company, increasing the regular dividend, or starting to manage a portfolio of securities. One could argue that the decision to recapitalize demonstrates a failure on the part of the top management team; they should have been able to find something productive to do with the money. In fact, Dunphy felt strongly that his job was not to be a portfolio manager, nor did he want to waste shareholders' money on a second-rate acquisition. He decided not only to pay out the cash on hand, but to borrow against the company's future cash flows and pay the $40 special dividend. Dunphy felt the market was "substantially undervaluing" the company's stock and seriously considered paying out $45 - almost the entire stock price - to demonstrate that there was excess value to be realized. Future cash flows would be committed to lenders who had a legally enforceable claim on a specified cash flow stream. Financing the Transaction Many shareholders felt this leverage would make the company riskier. Moreover, the banks had a negative reaction. First, management, as shareholders, would...
