Today, November 21, 1963, I’m so excited because our president John F. Kennedy is coming to my hometown of Dallas, Texas. Of course, I’m too young to know of politics and such because I am only seventeen years old, but my parents strongly believe in Mr. “Jack” Kennedy is the best for our country and our mother tells my brother and I how we should pay attention and trust that he is the best for us! So I loved John F. Kennedy. “Can I go see the president when he comes through Dealey Plaza?” I ask mother excited as I read the newspaper clipping of the map where Kennedy will circle around for the parade. “Only if you clean the kitchen and help your father in the back yard.” I knew my mother would let me go. I didn't want to hear anymore of this. My whole family was quiet including my little brother. You could hear a pin drop outside as you didn't hear the laughter, cheers grills cooking food as before this happened. No one came out of their houses the rest of the day in the community. Everything was quiet and dead like the poor life of Mr. Kennedy, as “Camelot” went down in flames. As the days went by all the newspapers filled with the court appearances of Lee Harvey Oswald. Lyndon B. Johnson was our new president. He isn't like Kennedy, much older and not as active in parades or campaign visits to states or even towns. Suddenly major news struck. A young man who owned a nightclub just inside the limits of

Conclusion Afterword Author’s Note Acknowledgments Notes Foreword When a governor or any state official seeks elective national office, his (or her) reputation and what the country knows about the candidate’s background is initially determined by the work of local and regional media. Generally, those journalists do a competent job of reporting on the prospect’s record. In the case of Governor George W. Bush, Texas reporters had written numerous stories about his failed businesses in the oil patch, the dubious land grab and questionable funding behind a new stadium for Bush’s baseball team, the Texas Rangers, and his various political contradictions and hypocrisies while serving in Austin.
