Creative Writing: My Visit To The Big Morongo Valley Preserve
Submitted By Words 506 Pages 3
Perfectly Preserved I attended the Big Morongo Valley Preserve on National Public Lands Day. My mom drove me to Morongo Valley on September 30, 2017. The rangers spoke to us about what I did to better the preserve. I chose to trim trees and clear walking paths. Two rangers explained how to properly trim trees to not harm plants. Trimming branches allows trees to grow healthy branches and leaves by the “removing of dead matter” (“Tree Trimming: Why It Is Important”). To successfully clear each path, the group of volunteers and I took five pairs of different shears, gloves, and tarps to place the clipped branches.
Trees create a long lasting impression on people as well as “the effect of the mood” on the community (Evens, Erv “Trees of Strength”).
