Crystal Eastman was born in Marlborough, Massachusetts, on June 25, 1881. Crystal achieved many things as a woman born in a time where most woman were overlooked. Crystal was a lawyer, antimilitarist, feminist, socialist, and journalist and was on the Congressional Union for Woman Suffrage. What she is known for is greater than all of the many other achievement, she fought for woman and the equality they deserved. Crystals argument consisted of the goal to have women to have equality towards men. Women are victims of having unequal rights as men which include not having the ability to vote, the struggles for women economic independence, and difference in social statuses.
Women had completely different rights as men. Crystal worked to write a proposed federal Equal Rights Amendment, women working, women being allowed to vote and equality between men and women. The Equal Rights Amendment included three sections of the amendment to abide by. Section 1 of the amendment is, “Equality of rights under the law…show more content… She was very driven and able to achieve her goals she set for herself. The successfulness is shown within how women’s right are now. There isn’t much struggle for women getting paid just as much as men do now. Many women do what was consider men jobs now in the workforce. One thing not visually shown as a success from Eastman was, women being judge for them choosing to be “housewives”. Women still get judge for making that choice. Men and society look at them as if they don’t have high education or the ability to do more. The respect that women deserve for being what keeps the house running is still not noticeable and still isn’t considered a “job” to society. If the man is the soul bread winner of the house it doesn’t mean that a woman isn’t educated. There must be something that people speak about to existence, nobody understand a mother and housewife job unless you’ve been one. The women of America must find
