The most important issue concerning the management is the price setting of this new product. I suggest the price of this new product should be set at $500.00.this price would attract customer and they get a chance to try it. The other major issue for the managers is to devise a comprehensive strategy to make this product an industry leader in the future. As our product is new but competitive, we need to set a price that could generate reputation as well as confidence in your product by our consumers. After doing research and by testing our product we found out that our product is way reliable in terms of product differentiation, reliability and usage. The most important thing is to save time while changing these pads as the cost grows more with using time which is not necessary. Each time the consumers wants to change a competitors pads it takes them 20 minutes whereas it only takes us 4 minutes. So each time a consumers changes the pad they save 16 minutes. Likewise our product is driven 200 feet per hour as compared to 160 feet per hour which is 23% more per hour. Our price for this product is only $500, whereas if we look at our competitors it is $6000.00 which is again 1200% cheaper. The Cost per set for Conventional Pads= Cost per set × # of set changes for # feet per hour driven = 120 × 50 = $6000 for 160 feet driven per hour
The Cost per set for CMI Pads = Cost per set × # of set changes for # feet per hour driven = 6000/12= 500 for 200 feet driven per hour
The second concern for the managers is to make a marketing strategy for this product so that it will increase the revenues as well as be the hit for the company in the

...M4 – MEMBA F15 – Curled Metals Inc. Adolfo Rogel Gabriel Sánchez Gerardo Cabada Problem Identification and Situation Analysis Problem Definition and Objectives Curled Metal Inc. - Engineered Products Division (CMI), Company had grown from selling metal as a finished product to one that used it as a raw material, with sales increase from $750,000 usd in 1991 to over $55 million usd by 2007. To date, CMI strongly relies on Slip-Seal, used as a high-temperature product seal in cars. Even considering CMI 80% market dominance for this product, management moved to diversify. A new product application for curled metal technology, a cushion pad, could be the key for this purpose. After closely reviewing, management needs to define a pricing and channel marketing decision for metal pile cushions utilized during pile driving. The new product it’s a metal pads which has significant efficiency advantages over usual pads available (hardwood blocks) to date in the market. CMI needs to consider several marketing decisions. First, they must determine a method for pricing and ultimately a price for the new metal pads. Second, the company must decide which channels to market the pads based on the selected pricing strategy. Third, CMI must determine how much to invest in manufacturing equipment by estimating market penetration and considering the costs and benefits of investing in pad producing equipment. ...02/27/2014 Curled Metal Inc.- Engineered Products Division: Case Study Analysis Francesco Panazzolo Fall 2013-2014 Case Presentation Curled Metal Inc. (CMI) faced a pricing and channel marketing decision for metal pile cushions utilized during pile driving. CMI’s approach to metal pads has significant efficiency advantages over currently used pads available in the market. However, CMI has to take into account several barriers to entry into this market. The primary barrier is that most companies viewed role of pads as a necessary accessory or tangent item instead of viewing them as a potentially value adding or cost reducing part of pile driving. In order to penetrate the market, CMI has to alter the point of view of pile driving pads for the opinion leaders, engineering firms, and contractors involved in the decision process. There is several stakeholders to consider, first CMI that need a new successful product to the continued success of the company. The decisions regarding pile cushions could greatly increase the company’s revenues and profits. There are also several secondary stakeholders in the pile driving industry. Secondary stakeholders include pile hammer manufacturers, architectural consulting engineers, soil consultants, pile hammer distributing/renting companies, engineering/construction contractors, and independent pile driving contractors. The workers who drive piles are also stakeholders since the current pads may be hazardous to their health due to heat related...

(CMI) examines a new potential product: using wounded, flattened curled metal as a cushion pad for piles driving hammers. The Decisions the company needs to take are what price should be charged for it, and how to market it to the costumers (channels). The alternatives we've examined are: Perceived value, Differentiation and Contingency value. EVC is the offered solution, with a price tag of XXXXXXX for the 11.5 inch pad. Suggested marketing plan is based on focusing in the 11.5 inch pads and … Main risk is the unsufficient data, which can resolve in a different demand function/market characteristics than expected. Another risk lies with the cooperation of the manufacturer rep's. Situation analysis Company (Product): CMI sells metal-based products. It has developed a special seal for the auto industry, which was a big success and currently holds 80% market share. However, CMI isn't confident with maintaining that percentage, and therefore started looking for other opportunities. This approach led to the development of a cushion pad which allows Pile-hammers to work faster and in a more safety way. Manufactoring process allows any diameter pad to be manufactured from the same band of curled metal, hence – simple and rather flexible process. Customers:...

Paulson Precision Case

...PAULSON PRECISION PRODUCTS, INC. TEAM 10 - P2F10 1.a. What price should PPP charge for its pads? • $1300 for Colerick Foundation Company – First purchase. • $1400 for distributors. [pic] 1.b. Explain the reasons for the recommended price. As it is shown on the table above, the economic value for the tests involving 11 ½" pads ranged from $1400 to $1900, which represents the maximum a customer would pay in either case. Because there is not enough data to adequately determine whether the true value for an 11 ½" pad is $1400 or $1900, we should select the lower of the two as the maximum price. Therefore, the upper price limit for PPP's curled metal pad is $1400. On the other hand, if PPP decides to price their product based only on material costs of the existing product, the price would be closer to $167 (6 CMI pads used, $1000 worth of asbestos pads). This results in a pricing range of $167 to $1400, with the lower price recovering fixed costs and a small profit. In choosing the optimal price, PPP should take advantage of the performance and operational benefits that its product offers. Not only are the pads more efficient and last longer, they are easier to handle, reaching temperature that are almost three times less then those of wooden pads. There was significant savings gained by using PPP pads in both tests, ranging from 29 to 35%. Customers should be willing to pay for these benefits, especially when presented to them in terms of their economic...

Analysis and Optimization of the Manufacturing Processes Within a Truss Manufacturing Company Through the Application of Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Occupational Safety Principles and Techniques

...ANALYSIS AND OPTIMIZATION OF THE MANUFACTURING PROCESSES WITHIN A TRUSS MANUFACTURING COMPANY THROUGH THE APPLICATION OF INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING, ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING, AND OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY PRINCIPLES AND TECHNIQUES by ROSMARDY FLORES NARANJO ABSTRACT In spite of remarkable improvements in recent decades, the construction industry and areas related continue to be one of the industries with the poorest safety records. Low statistics in environmental improvements can be also noticed. Organizations that have implemented improvements have integrated big efforts of owners, contractors, subcontractors, and designers. The truss industry is not an exception to this problematic. This industry, which is related directly to the home building industry and has boomed in recent decades, seems to have a lack of controls and regulations. Many of these problems may be linked, for example, to the lack of interest from management to improve and regulate such important areas as occupational safety and environmental hygiene. While past studies on occupational safety, environmental control, and quality control have been conducted in different areas of the construction industry, the truss industry and the owner’s impact on construction safety have not been previously investigated. This paper presents the results of a study within a truss manufacturing company, which was evaluated and studied in the areas of occupational safety, environmental control, and quality control. Data were obtained...
