...Current Business Research Project Sharron Jones University of Phoenix Res/341 Jim Triplett June 13, 2011 Current Business Research Project This paper is a synopsis of a research study in price knowledge measurement scales used in the food and clothing retail industry. This paper will define and identify the business research, purpose of the study, problems under investigation, methods of data collection, and the ending result. The article this synopsis is based on is “On the Validity of Price Knowledge Measurements via self-assessment scales: two studies in retail” (Eberhardt, Kenning, & Schneider, 2009, p. 1). Business research is defined “as a systematic and organized effort to investigate a specific problem encountered in a work setting that needs a solution” (Sekaran, 2003, p. 5). The business research used in respect to price knowledge measurement includes addressing self-assessment versus percentage absolute deviation (PAD), and the retail branch of food versus clothes. The problem under investigation is determining the validity of scales used to measure consumer price knowledge used in marketing to influence market price and profit (Eberhardt et al., 2009, p. 1). Previous research is outdated and does not consider important factors such as brand power, or demographics, and was performed from the viewpoint of a researcher and not the consumer (Eberhardt et al., 2009, p. 2). The researchers performed separate studies in food and clothing retail in Germany...

...Current Business Research Project The ability for a supervisor to communicate is one any organization expects. Although communication normally comes naturally to someone, being able to communicate and transfer skills to an associate is something that may need to be learned. There have been numerous studies conducted to determine the effectiveness of formal training and development. Once the skill is learned, how the skill is used in on the job training is very important. The research conducted in this article is trying to determine whether or not the physical environment of an organization has an impact on supervisory communication skills transfer. Some of the factors being looked at are actual physical properties within a work environment. Examples of this would be how a cubicle or workspace is set up. Organizations need to determine if the physical environment is affecting a supervisors ability to transfer their skills. They also want to determine if the physical environment has an effect on the employees ability to transfer the skills they learned to on the job work. For this research project, interviews were conducted with the supervisors that were selected for the project. They used the Heuristic Elicitation Methodology for the interview process. They also conducted surveys of the supervisors. The results of the research showed supervisors would like to have a private office with a door to be able to enhance face-to-face interactions with employees. The supervisors...

Laura M. Miller wrote “Physical Abuse in a College Setting” in this peer review Ms. Miller identified the purpose of the research. In this paper I will explain the problem that’s under investigation. There were several methods used in the research paper that I will describe. Last but not least I will conclude what the result of the research was. This article identifies the purpose of the research; after numerous reports of abuse between college students in relationships. According to research those students involved in an abusive relationship is more likely to stay with their abuser long term. The purpose of this paper is to inform readers how common it is for college students to find themselves in abusive relationship and never report their abuser. It has been determined that most victims have been in abusive relationships in the past. The business problem under investigation in this article is the victim giving accurate identification for their abuser. The main reason this happens is lack of knowledge and denial that abuse is incurring in their relationship. Stets and Pirog-Good (1989) reported that only approximately 40% of the men...

...The business research and purpose of the article “Using Technology in the Social Studies Classroom: The Journey of Two Teachers” is how technology in these times have changed and should be more encouraged in the teaching methods. Two teachers have been used as a case study to determine if technology used in the classroom is more efficient and effective. The purpose of using technology in the classroom is a way to introduce new and innovative techniques through technology integration strategies. In this case study, investigations must be carried out in order to determine if in fact incorporating technology in the classroom will be beneficial for both parties involved; students and teachers. There are many teaching techniques that can be used but in the environment we live in today technology is the leading learning source we have. Because technology was the main focus and using different technology strategies, investigations were carried out between shifting from teacher-centered approaches to student-centered approaches. This consists of students becoming more active in the classroom and also willing to spend more time outside of the classroom. The approach in collecting data to carry out these investigations was from two different teachers. Three steps were used; pre-service teacher experience during the methods block, student teaching experience, and in-service teacher stage, post graduation. Using second hand data from both teachers helped with many questions and concerns...

...cons of this project. In our always changing market, industry and competition if the company wants to be successful, they have to keep up with the changes. If they want to be the leader in the market, they cannot sit around and wait for better times to come. The general manager needs to decide if he is looking to increase profit margins for right now and possibly for the next couple of years, or is he looking for the future of the company in the long run. Is the company able to take this initiative? 2. The other side of this issue is that the company at the moment is not in the best financial position. The general manager knows that his business position is strongly relying on the financial success of the next coming year. The lack of the monetary power is a key factor in making important business decisions. Should they be passive in this project? B. Micro: 1. The general manager needs to have a profitable year. Two years in a row without the desired profit numbers, will not look good for his business advancement and his career. According to the director of marketing they need new machinery for their current production line, and by doing that they will have a very direct and immediate payback. Meanwhile the project has a two year development before they start production, and also the first two years of production only break even. 2. The R&D director has said that he left his former company because they lacked creativity and innovation in research and development...
