Epilepsy is a disorder regarded as by recurring seizures (also known as “seizure disorder). About 3 million Americans have epilepsy. In about 70% of people with epilepsy, the cause is not known. In the remaining 30%, the most common causes are head trauma, brain tumor, lead poisoning, infection of brain tissue or heredity. (Epilepsy & Seizure 101 by Epilepsy Foundation) Dae Shaun is one of these cases and the cause for his epilepsy is head trauma. It is one of kinds of brain injury caused by trauma.
Dae Shaun got a hit very hard on the metal in bed when he was asleep at 2 years old. Mom heard gasping sound at middle of the night. The paramedic was called and he was sent into the hospital by a helicopter immediately since he got hit so hard and lost his breath at that moment.

At that time, Dae Shaun couldn’t tell and understand either. Dae is easy to get upset when he won't understand the simple things. He is easy to forget as well. He doesn't know how to control his anger when he loses a game or doesn't get what he wants. He uses profanity (bad language) but that's unrelated to his epilepsy, in general he gets frustrated due to his lack of understanding. Sometimes he went outside without a jacket, freezing himself and standing outside. Social Development: Dae Shaun is influenced by other people around him. He doesn't want to be around others all the time. Dae Shaun doesn't like to be around people for too long, he prefers to be alone because he doesn't understand people with other special needs, but he cannot relate to others his age due to the lack of mental understanding of them.
