The two advertisements I chose were produced by Daisy Air Rifles, the first in the 1972 and the second in 1957. Both of these advertisements are focused on people buying a Daisy Air Rifle, but they have different targets. The picture from 1972, with the family, shows that gns bring families together. And the second advertisement, from 1972, focuses on targeting little “cowboys” and “cowgirls”. These are just the top layers of the advertisements; both of them are filled with things that make the buyer want the product more. Things like the colors used, the way the people look, what surrounds the object, and what Daisy says about the product in the advertisement.

The advertisement is more for children who would want to be cowboys or cowgirls, which was a very popular thing at the time. The picture is of an old-western style lever-action rifle with little Red Ryders climbing all over it. During this time Red Ryder was a very popular comic on a heroic, crime fighting cowboy who all little boys dreamed of being. To them this would be the next best thing. The gun also has new modifications that help give it a realistic feel and look; these characteristics are described by the little Red Ryders. Along with the gun, the advertisement says the buyer receives “A Fifty-Cent Junior Membership in The National Rifle Association”. Any gun loving american would want their children to learn to appreciate guns too and this membership would be a perfect start. Several different NRA awards are also shown near the bottom, and a description says that kids can earn these awards with their Red Ryder Daisy Rifle.
