¿Las acciones de Ron Woodroof, Matthew McConaughey, se pueden considerar como Responsabilidad Social Empresarial? Dallas Buyers Club es una película que trata sobre como un hombre encuentra evadir procedimientos establecidos para ayudar a pacientes con SIDA después de que el mismo es diagnosticado y ha probado los beneficios del tratamiento.

La Responsabilidad Social Empresarial “es una visión de negocios que integra el respeto por las personas, los valores éticos, la comunidad y el medioambiente con la gestión misma de la empresa, independientemente de los productos o servicios que esta ofrece, del sector que pertenece, de su tamaño o nacionalidad.” Es decir, son las acciones voluntarias de la empresa a través de sus empleados para hacer un bien a la comunidad. Ron Woodroof, victima de la enfermedad de SIDA, hace su propia investigación sobre la enfermedad y busca alternativas para curarse o para sentirse mejor. Durante su investigación Ron Woodroof se da cuenta que el medicamento que están usando en el hospital de Dallas solo daña a la gente y decide buscar ayuda por otro lado. A través de un conocido que le da alternativas de curación, se relaciona con un medico y sigue el tratamiento indicado que con el tiempo encuentra los beneficios de éste. Ron al darse cuenta lo mucho que sufren los paciente de SIDA decide empezar su propia empresa con el objeto de proporcionar el mismo medicamento a personas que igual que él lo necesitan. El objetivo de vender éstos medicamentos no es solo altruista sino también con el objetivo de obtener un ingreso económico.

Podemos observar la Responsabilidad Social Empresarial debido a la visión y compromiso de ayudar a los pacientes de SIDA a mejorarse mientras genera un ingreso económico, tanto en su empresa como a los proveedores del medicamento. Ron comienza hacer un bien a la comunidad al dar acceso a medicamentos que se ha probado que están ayudando a las victimas de SIDA que lo toman.

Dallas Buyers Club es una excelente película que te muestra la nobleza que tiene la gente cuando llega a entender lo que uno esta sufriendo. Ron era una persona extremadamente homofóbica, no toleraba estar cerca de los homosexuales, pero al estar en la misma posición que muchos de ellos estaban, se da cuenta que son personas iguales a él. La película te enseña como esta persona, Ron, pelea contra el hospital y contra el FDA (Food and Drug Association) para que gente con SIDA pueda vivir mejor y por mas tiempo. Dallas Buyers Club te hace reflexionar y ponerte en el lugar de otras personas; te das cuenta que en ese tiempo, 1985, eran tiempos diferentes en los cuales la gente no estaba educada o no se sabia sobre la enfermedad. En la escena donde Ron llega al bar con sus “amigos” y al saber que tiene SIDA lo hacen a un lado y no lo dejan acercarse a ellos. En aquel tiempo no se sabía que la enfermedad no se podía transmitir con solo el contacto físico. Ron adquiere la enfermedad, no por ser homosexual, sino por el uso de agujas contaminadas que utilizaba al drogarse. Al ver estos comportamientos, te da coraje ver el trato que le dan a Ron después de saber que tiene SIDA. Es una historia verdadera que llega a ser película por su mensaje. Es una película espectacular que inspira a hacer algo bueno para la comunidad sin importar los medios para llegar a ello. La pelea de Ron contra las autoridades para poder seguir ayudando a la gente que lo necesita no solo es inspiradora sino estimulante. Esto nos enseña que todavía existe gente que lucha por lo que cree aunque no tenga mucha oportunidad o aunque se encuentre ante múltiples barreras. Es de admirar la acciones que Ron efectúa para pelear por las vidas de las personas con la enfermedad.

Lo que hizo Ron Woodroof en “Dallas Buyers Club” se puede considerar como Responsabilidad Social Empresarial ya que su visión fue la de contribuir activa y voluntariamente al mejoramiento social y de salud de la comunidad, proveyendo una alternativa para los enfermos de SIDA, mejorando así su calidad de vida.
