...The term captain is synonymous with the term leader. By definition, a leader is someone who is in an advanced position to take the initiative in order to go forth and show the way. Few will have the opportunity to feel the weight of the responsibilities and the happiness of knowing you're making a difference. Being a leader of any type of organization in my eyes is a huge job. It’s teaching respect by showing respect. It’s one thing to be a good dancer, but it's another to be a good captain. A captain must have dedication to the team and patience for when others need help and I believe I have these qualities. The captain should also have goals set in mind for the team to improve and my goals I have set for the Bellevedettes are as follows: become more of a team, become better role models for our school and just help them become the best dancers they can be so at state competition they can feel like they are the best dancers that they can be. Dance teams are all about unity. The dancers need to learn and understand that we should be moving as one. There are no individual standouts. There should not be any of the "I can't do this so I'm going to do it my way" excuses. If the dancer feels like she could not do a move I will be there to help them. It’s helping girls, including myself, strive and push themselves to be the best dancers I know we all can be. Having this title doesn’t mean being the boss of everyone, being in the front in every dance, or ...

...Leadership is a quality that I pride myself in having. In my life, there are many opportunities for me to express that leadership. I am involved in a number of leadership organizations within my school. I participate in Drama Club, Student Council, KAY Club, Earth Care Club, and my school’s show choir. I am also the Boys Basketball Manager and the Track Manager. By just being involved in such organizations I have taken on a leadership role, but within those organizations there are even bigger leadership roles one could play. For example, I am the dance captain and treasurer for drama club and the second soprano section leader for my show choir group. This is only my second year in drama club and in show choir, but I can say that I have worked...

...involved in everything from softball to dance to leadership organizations, I naturally learned to multi-task. In a way I consider time-management and organization two of my biggest strengthens. These two traits have been essential to my development and have allowed me to successfully participate in many activities throughout these four years of high school. Since I was a little girl, I always had a passion for dancing. I began dancing at age three at family gatherings, and have continued ever since then. It was not only something I enjoyed but an art I wanted to perfect. I even performed at national competitions. For three years of my life, I attend a dance studio, six days a week, constantly learning new techniques and preparing for competitions. My routine consisted of: slamming the alarm clock at 6:00 am, school all day, home for lunch, practice until all my pirouettes and leaps caused my feet to ache, hours of homework, and went to bed exhausted to repeat it all the following day. Throughout this routine I...

...I am interested in bringing my talents to your organization. I am not your average student. I differ from the norm through my love for dancing, color guard, music, and makeup. Dance has been a passion of mine since I was young. As a child, I danced in my living room, as my mom played Spanish music. Sometimes I grabbed brooms or mops to dance with. I never cared how I looked because of my passion. I’ve always enjoyed dance as a way of self-expression through movement and music: two of my favorite things. Choreographing a routine is letting all the stress and negative vibes you have vanish. The music speaks to me as I create moves to fit the song. Currently, I am listening to classical music, picturing myself performing a lyrical routine. Loving dance and music is an amazing concept that attracted me to join Color Guard....

...She would perform dance routines at home to the songs of artists like Mariah Carey, and eventually was chosen to be the captain of her drill team at her middle school. The teacher advised Misty to take ballet classes at the Boys and Girls Club she attended. Misty eventually did so under the tutelage of Cynthia "Cindy" Bradley, who saw the young girl as a prodigy, able to see and perform choreographed movement immediately and dance extremely well after a very short time of training. Even with obstacles at home with her mother and physical rehabilitation from a vertebral fracture, Misty didn’t stop in her pursuit of her...

...Being a leader to me, as said by Pericles, “ What you leave behind is not what is engraved on stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.” Although highly introverted, I have been trusted with positions to lead by those who rank higher than me or voted for by the people. Roles such as being captain of a team or holding an office position have shaped me into the person I am today by helping me learn how to build important relationships as well as how to become a motivator and a better speaker. For the past 6 years, I have lead a color guard team full of young, creative minds and have successfully encouraged them into who I know they could be and who they have been aching to be. These girls would come to me if they needed...

...The group that I have chosen to identify with is the F&M Dance Company. The company is comprised of over fifty dancers and is supervised by three authoritative professors. Each fall, new choreographers are recruited by the company to teach their choreographies, or reconstruction works of other choreographers, for the Fall Dance Concert. Each spring, the students have the opportunity to choreograph a piece for the Spring Dance Concert. These student choreographed pieces are then either presented in the concert, which is what most choreographer strive for, or in the show case, which is only held on a Sunday. Due to this either/or situation, the choreographers contend with each other to secure a spot in the concert, therefore galvanizing competition,...

...Throughout my three years of high school, I can confidently say that the single person who made the most effective impact on me has been my Marketing teacher, Mrs. Dellis. Passionate is an understatement when it comes to her teaching style. Not to mention, her positivity during the school year inspires me to carry her uplifting characteristics everyday. Identically, my goal this year is to make an everlasting impression on my fellow classmates similar to the one she has built for me. Furthermore, something so short-lived can go so far, such as a smile in the hallway to an old friend, or a simple compliment. Happiness is what I want my classmates to think of when they hear my name. Additionally, being humble is so crucial when it comes to our...

...Sometimes as well not sharing the negative things going around in your surrounding has a bigger impact than when books are burned. This might be because you are not helping for this to be heard by others and help it to be stopped. Censorship does come to play in this poem in how there are people like the people who are in control on power in our society, this is represented in the symbolism Stafford uses about “the terrorized countryside where wild dogs own anything that moves.” Lastly, the personification in “ignorance can dance in the absence of fire” is still following up on how not sharing ideas causes for ignorance to make fun of the fear people might have in...

...| | | | | | | | Organization: Cheshire Home, Quatre Bornes Section A Leonard Cheshire Disability was founded by the late Group Captain Lord Cheshire of Woodhall in 1948. By then a famous war hero, at the beginning of that year he was living alone in an isolated mansion in Hampshire winding up a community project for ex servicemen and women which he had started at the end of the war. Discovering that one of the former members of the community was terminally ill and had nowhere to go, he offered to care for him in his own home. To his surprise, he found others in need coming to him for help and so started what was to become a worldwide organization developing services for disabled people. After the world war he drafted the community because of the situation. Then came the idea of those homes to help the disables. 50 years ago in April 1955 when the Mother Queen opened the 1st official building of the Leonard Cheshire Foundation. The philanthropic enterprise of Group Captain Leonard Cheshire which started in 1948 in England has grown to some 200 Homes around the world in addition to those in the United Kingdom. ...and serving to the country as a Doctor really encouraged me in my senior years to improve my academics in order for me to achieve this goal. Ability to inspire and actively promote academic achievement and initiatives. Include examples of participation in any academic events/programs/etc: Yes, I, as an academic captain of 2018, would have the ability to inspire and actively promote academic achievements and initiatives. I have attended many course lectures about a range of subjects in UQ, Griffith and QUT Universities where they had mentioned their academic initiatives within that course, inspiring me to think of new ideas for our students in their academic careers. I have participated in countless academic programs such as RobotIGGS, Peer Tutoring, ICAS competitions, E-Steam, Science and Engineering Challenge (2016), Education Perfect Competitions and AMC Competitions. I also intend to do the UQ Enhanced Studies Program, the QUT High School Research Internship and any other programs that I may be able to participate over the top of my year 12 studies. This will allow me to be academically diverse and therefore I believe I would be a perfect candidate for this role. Organised and a history of meeting deadlines: I have always been organised with my assessment items so that I am able to meet the deadlines. Often, I would hand in assessments early as I start my tasks as soon as I receive them, giving me enough time to check over my work and ensure that there are no simple mistakes...

...business leader. Human Resource Management is an area of the industry that is ever-increasing in importance: and is one of the reasons why I am interested in not only studying a degree but also pursuing it as a career. My acceptance on to the National Citizenship Service programme in sixth form enabled me to gain an immense array of skills and experience. As part of this experience we had to complete a residential training session which allowed me to develop team building and leadership skills, working with people I hadn`t met before. The second part of our programme was to organise and carry out a charity fund raiser for Alder Hey Children`s Hospital. This entailed planning and organising an entire Christmas Fete. As team leader it was my role to ensure all elements ran smoothly, from the implementation of both college and local business stalls, booking of the venues, refreshments and most importantly monitoring my different teams. What I learnt most from this was the importance of planning, being part of a team and working in a professional and courteous manner at all times. Currently alongside my studies I work at a local retail store which involves interacting with customers, stock rotation, handling payments, receiving and sorting stock, displays and the daily running of the shop. Being a store which is part of a large chain has not only given me first-hand experience as an employee but allowed me to observe the complexity and dedication needed in today`s current market to...
