The most prominent focal group in Dane County is Hispanic or Latino. Even though, the Hispanic or Latino group turns out to be the largest among our focal groups in Dane County, their population percentage (6.3%) is significantly lower than that of the U.S. overall (17.6%). Additionally, due to the large percentage of Whites in Dane County (85.8% compared to the U.S. overall of 77.1%) and relatively low percentage of Blacks (5.4% compared to the U.S. overall of 13.3%) and Latinos, the large majority of the population is likely to have access to technology. This is because Whites and Asians are more likely to have access to digital devices and have the most diverse experience regarding site surfing on the Internet, in comparison to Blacks and Hispanics. …show more content…
overall. 60% of the population in Dane County falls into the income bracket of $50,000 or higher. Meanwhile, the U.S. overall population in the income brackets of $50,000 or higher is 53.4%. This fact also indicates that Dane County’s population in the income brackets below $50,000 is lower compared to that of the U.S. overall. Therefore, it can be concluded that Dane County is more well-off than the U.S. overall. This correlates with the data showing the percent of people living below the poverty level. Dane County’s population below the poverty level is 11.2% which is lower the U.S. overall of 13.5%. In addition, Dane County also has lower unemployment rate (3.6% in comparison to the U.S. overall of 5.2%). This further supports the notion that Dane County is more affluent than the U.S. overall, and hence, the people in Dane County are more likely to accumulate economic capital. This would result in more digital resources and technology use in the

Denmark Holocaust Analysis

...Ellen Keith, in Beyond the Legend: Uncovering the Historical Circumstances Behind the Rescue of the Danish Jews, emphasizes that “[t]he morals of the Danes should not be considered the defining factor for the uniqueness of the Danish response to the so-called ‘Jewish Problem.’ ” The Danish were not successful in helping the Jews only for the reason that they were well treated in their country. Having high assimilation and low antisemitism does not mean that Jews will be rescued. She points out that in the Netherlands, relations towards Jews was similar to those in Demark, however, only 25% of Dutch Jews survived the Holocaust. Ellen Keith, ultimately argues that there were many other factors that are part of the rescue mission such as the “autonomy of the Danish government,” the “complicity of German officials,” and the “timeframe for the deportation…” In the Holocaust, having “goodwill” alone did not allow a county to save their Jews. However, it should be noted that Danish goodwill should not be discredited altogether. The way the Danes treated the Jews was still a key part to the reason why so many Danish Jews survived. “The lack of anti-Semitic laws in Denmark (such as the introduction of yellow badges, ghettos, and Judenräte), meant that Jews were not easily identifiable.” Since the Jews could not be recognized, they could not...

Study

...ABSTRACT Objective: This qualitative descriptive study investigates how public health nurses working within the child welfare system view the organization and the organizationÕs effect on their case management practice. Design: Semistructured interviews were conducted utilizing the Bolman—Deal Organizational Model. This model identifies four frames of an organization: symbolic, human resources, political, and structural. Sample: A purposive sample of nine nurses and one social worker was selected to participate in comprehensive interviews. Results: Data analysis identified two main themes. The first theme was the presence of organizational structural barriers to providing case management. The second theme was the lack of political influence by the nurses to change the structure of the organization; hence, their skills could be more completely utilized. Conclusions: Public health nurses who work in child welfare will need to systematically analyze their role within the organization and understand how to work in Òhost settings.Ó Nursing educators need to prepare public health nurses to work in non-health care settings by teaching organizational analysis. Key words: child protective services, organization, public health nursing. The purpose of this exploratory qualitative descriptive study was to investigate how public health nurses working in the child welfare system in a large metropolitan county in California view the organization. The study utilized the Bolman—Deal Organizational ModelÕs...

Animal Disease Research Paper

...1 )  Rabies             Rabies is a viral disease causing inflammation of the brain ( encephalitis ). The virus is a member of the family Rhaboviridae. Worldwide, several variants of the virus have been identified, each associated with a single wild animal host that acts as a reservoir of infection for a particular geographic area.         Although all warm -blooded vertebrates are susceptible, only mammals are important in the spread of rabies. In British Columbia, bats are the only reservoir of rabies. Records of bats submitted for rabies testing suggest that relatively few are infected, even among those submitted because they are behaving abnormally. Bats are valuable components of the natural ecosystem and many species are at risk in British Columbia. Other potential hosts of British Columbia include domestic dogs/cats, foxes, raccoons, skunks, wolves and coyotes. " Spill over " of rabies to terrestial mammals from bats has occurred in British Columbia, but rabies has never been maintained in wild populations of terrestrial mammals.       Rabies should be suspected in any wild animal exhibiting any behavior considered " abnormal" including ; loss of fear or unusual friendliness, excitation or aggression, depression, incoordination, paralysis, convulsions or seizures, abnormal vocalizations, appearance of nocturnal creatures during the day, signs of choking or inability to drink or swallow food, drooling of saliva or frothing at the mouth. Hemp

...The Beneficial Uses of Hemp Following my father's death, I felt there was some unfinished business that we had not discussed. I searched to find some of my father's thoughts and feeling that I could justify our relationship through. Ironically, I came across a manila envelope, which had contained some of his prized possessions. As I searched through it, I developed a new opinion of the bio mass plant called "Hemp." There were articles showing a hemp bills being passed and farmers wanting to cultivate it within Delta County. There was also a book called "The Emperor Wears No Clothes." It was a book stating compelling facts about the miracle crop Hemp." An article struck me. It told of, Woody Harrison, a well-known actor stating, "He would pick up the tab for Colorado's first hemp crop if state legislators approve the crop." He also stated that you could smoke a pound of it and not get high. (Rice)" In addition 4.6 million members of the American Farm Bureau Federation support Hemp 100 percent. Hemp could be the most abundant natural resource, it can replace 80% of our fossil fuels, and be used for many major medicinal purposes (Kriho). It is essential that we stop the use of all fossil fuels, and deforestation to save Mother Earth. This can be accomplished with the cannabis plant hemp seizing pollution and provide the world with more than enough of its energy needs. According to Jack Herer, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, we're not only the founders of our...
