Dare To Dream The beauty of dreaming is amazing, it can take you anywhere in reality. What I dream of is a goal to be set, it is a journey to be taken. When I dream, I force myself to take the challenge and walk into unknown grounds to bring everything I dream into a reality. Some of these day time dreams would come to reality, like the time I dreamed of becoming good in math, but some dreams are not meant to be and other could be way to far from our hands. Some when realized fulfill you of happiness and you just want to live in that moment. I believe that dreams are like a treasure to be search for and discovered.

The first time I found myself chasing my dreams was when I was in the fifth grade. It all started by the middle of the last semester, we were learning long division, but my background in math was really bad. I was lucky to know how to add. I was never a good student, but it was difficult for me to concentrate and pay attention. During class I would picture myself being the best in every subject, especially math. I desired that dream to be true more than anything, so I decided to bring it to life. First I tried to concentrate, but it was difficult. Months passed and I kept struggling with long divisions. One day I was trying to solve a long division for my homework, I started to analyze the equation and ask myself questions about it, then I discovered how to solve them. At the end of the year I was awarded a diploma for my achievement in math. Ever since, I enjoyed solving math problems, now it is my best subject. Dreams not always go the way we want them to because we don't have control over unexpected situations. Even if dreams are not meant, you can always learn something from them. Like the time I save some money to buy a car, found the perfect one, and fell in love with it. I requested a day off from work to go see the car and hopefully to make it mine. I went all the way to Fullerton, but hours before I arrived they had sold the car, just hours before. I learn that dreaming without quick actions takes you nowhere.

There is no doubt that dreams are amazing, but some are out of our reach to make them be true. Dreaming is one of the most amazing gifts we have in life. Dreams are endless and powerful when you have a desire to change them into reality. Our dreams are powerless if we do not believe in them. I believe my dreams are the biggest treasure in my life; they are mine, a piece of me. I will never stop dreaming.

Dare to Dream

...I Want to Know … What is Your Dream? Are you willing to lay hold of your dreams? I'm not talking about a wish – a wish is usually only a passing thought that most people never act on. But a dream is something that captures your heart and spirit. It ignites your imagination and fills you with an unquenchable hope. It becomes something you can't easily set aside. Dreams consume your thinking and fuel your excitement and passion. It can happen in a single moment, or it can captivate your thoughts for years. Sometimes when the dream is really big, you embrace it, and somehow it feels like the dream embraces you. Our dreams are often about experiencing a better life, about achieving greater things … they are pictures we have of the future that reveal a part of our lives that will be greater than the past. It takes courage to dream. Any time you dare to dream, there are risks involved. What if it never happens? What if it costs too much? What if people laugh at you? It's hard to hold on to your dreams. It's hard to believe when the world and those around you give you no reason to press in and press on. I've been blessed to realize many dreams in my life and ministry, and I'm convinced that a dream only happens when two things take place: 1. You live with expectant faith that the dream will happen. 2. You refuse to let go of the dream - regardless of the circumstances in your life. When God put the dream in my heart to acquire a sports arena as the location for Lakewood...

Life Skills

...What is Life Without a Dream? Life is a journey, nothing but a journey. Some people on their journey climb mountains, others go down valleys, and some just follow the road and see where it takes them. Those people have probably chosen the worst way ever to live their lives or walk their journeys because they have no idea where they are going. It is exactly as if they are driving a car but do not have a destination. If the road leads them to the gutters they will follow and if it carries them back to their starting point they will never mind. Those kind of people have chosen death one day while others have chosen immortality, by living a dream, having a destination and doing whatever it takes to reach it; by wanting to have an impact on people's lives and by changing the world. They could be one day engraved in people's hearts and minds such as men of peace and men of war, men of science and men of literature. Like Thomas Edison, Napoleon, Columbus, James Cook, Adolf Hitler, Anwar El Sadat and Charles Dickens for instance. These impacters have yes died but they are still alive for they are stamped in our minds, some even in our hearts. Therefore, they will never die for they are eternal and everlasting. I would like to seal my speech by a quotation I came across and thought was quite relevant to my topic: " It is not so much where we stand as in what direction we are moving: To reach the port of heaven, we must sale sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it but...

Comparing Articles to Movies

...Annisha Lear WSC002 October 13, 2012 Walt Disney has been getting a lot of feedback about his movies. They were not negative but some would say he changed them and took away from the original fairytale. “Walt Disney 2” by Maurice Sendak and Disney Revisited or Jimmy Cricket it’s musty down here by Betsy Hearne are two articles that criticized Disney movies. Disney makes things more childlike, he gives us chase between characters and inspires children’s imaginations and dreams which will be compared in both readings to the movie The Princess and The Frog. Disney makes his movies more childlike by giving children hope and something to believe in. Some may say that his movies take away from the original fairytale but Maurice Sendak believes that is a good thing. “Disney has often been condemned for corrupting the classics, and he has, to be sure, occasionally slipped in matters of taste and absolute fidelity to the original. But he has never corrupted” (Sendak 112). Therefore it is not that Disney corrupts the original plot he just makes it more child friendly. In his article Walt Disney 2 Sendak talks about his own experience with the fairytale Pinocchio. He says the Walt Disney storyline was better than the original. The original version Pinocchio had a bad personality however in Disney’s version instead of him doing bad things Disney used the fairy as an excuse for him being bad. This shows that Disney didn’t corrupt it he just shows why Pinocchio was doing bad. Fairytales...

Another Christmas, Another Year Ends

...meantime, someone sent me a beautiful and haunting poem. Enjoy. Another Christmas, Another year ending; A year of pain and loss and bewilderment, Of beauty and fear, With a little love to make us go on struggling, A little joy to make it worth the struggle. Another Christmas, Another dream over. Do we dare to remember last year And the years before? So much is gone, so many memories, How can we stop what remains from becoming a shadow? Another Christmas, Another pause in the fighting. Can the pain that we give to others And the pain that we cause for ourselves Really be laid to rest by a Christmas card Or a sprig of mistletoe? Are we not as afraid of dying on Christmas Day? Another Christmas, Another pause for reflection: The morning I walked out alone in the cold golden sunlight, The evening I loved as was loved amid laughter and music, The afternoon of firelight and peace with my dream-shapes about me. Another Christmas, Another year beginning. Perhaps this year will see the end of us, Perhaps an indifferent stab will finally sever the tightrope on which we struggle. Do we dare to...

Love Song of Prufrock

...In his dramatic monologue, The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, T.S. Eliot explores the timeless issues of love and self-awareness - popular themes in literature. However, through his use of Prufrock's profound self-consciousness he skews the reader's expectations of a Love Song and takes a serious perspective on the subject of love, which many authors do, but few can create characters as deep and multi-layered as Prufrock; probably the reason that this poem still remains, arguably, Eliot's most famous. The beginning of the poem is pre-empted by an excerpt from Dante's Inferno which Eliot uses to create the poem's serious tone, but also to begin his exploration of Prufrock's self-consciousness. By inserting this quote, a parallel is created between Prufrock and the speaker, Guido da Montefeltro, who is very aware of his position in hell and his personal situation concerning the fate of his life. Prufrock feels much the same way, but his hell and the fate of his life are more in his own mind and have less to do with the people around him. The issue of his fate leads Prufrock to an overwhelming question...(10) which is never identified, asked, or answered in the poem. This question is associated somehow to his psyche, but both its ambiguity to the reader and Prufrock's denial to even ask What is it?(11) gives some insight into his state of internal turmoil and inability to reason. Prufrock's dissatisfaction in his personal appearance is one, but not the most important of his idiosyncrasies...
