whats the point of being alive if you don't live, of course with everything there is a limit and drugs isn't always the answer but the one thing that is truly despicable is people believing they are better than others because they don't smoke weed, we're all the same so people need to stop hating and start enjoying what they've got :)

...although they maintained good customer-supplier relationships with their former partners. As a result of their exit and Ghosn’s emphasis on reduced purchasing costs, Nissan began to substantially lower its cost after the keiretsu investments were sold.  Ghosn reorganized the way that Nissan operated. The organization was restructured toward permanent cross-functional departments, which each serviced one product line. All unnecessary positions were eliminated. Employees were disciplined much more strongly for inaccurate or poor data than misjudgment, thereby stimulating risk-taking behavior and personal accountability. Product quality, reliability, and customer service were stressed.  A performance-based incentive system was implemented. These incentives included cash incentives and stock options for achievements that could be linked directly to successful operating profits and revenue. Promotions were also tied to this new system. 8. What grade would you give Carlos Ghosn for the job he has done in crafting the turnaround plan at Nissan? What is it that you like or dislike in his plan? Which elements were the most consistent with the Japanese culture? Which were the least consistent? How were key elements received by employees? What about by external stakeholders? Why were employees willing to accept elements of the turnaround plan that were inconsistent with their corporate and national culture? Most students will be inclined to give Ghosn an A+ based on his improvement...

...20-1 PEER PRESSURE No matter how old they are people care what others think and want to fit in. When you are just starting to think for yourself, the influence of your friends and people your age—your peers—can be powerful. It can affect how you feel, dress, and act. This is called peer pressure. Peer pressure can be good and bad. Good pressure from your peers might lead you to play sports, study hard, or join clubs. But there are often negative pressures, too—to make fun of someone, to tell a lie, or to cheat on a test. Sometimes the pressure may be about actions that have more serious results like skipping school, shoplifting, using alcohol, tobacco or other drugs, or having sex. *REMEMBER* Make up your own mind, even if your peers don’t agree with you. Respect your friends’ choices, even if you don’t agree with them! It is important to think about what could happen if everyone just “goes along with the crowd” without thinking about their CHOICES. Young people make choices every day. Some are more important than others. There is a big difference between deciding what to wear to a party and deciding whether or not to do drugs. The choices you make say a lot about what kind of person you are. When you feel unsure, try talking to someone you trust: your parents, another adult who cares, or maybe a close friend you respect. *REMEMBER* YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN DECISIONS It’s okay to say “NO” Some decisions, like those about drinking, drugs or sex, are difficult to make and have...

If it‟s helpful, your HR Advisor can work with you to ensure all the key areas are captured. Tips to help you create a good Job Description & Person Specification o Create a Business Case This is essential when creating a new role or changing an existing role as it is needed as part of the Vacancy Control Procedure, and allows you to focus on what you want the role to actually achieve. o Don‟t focus on grade at this stage This is likely to detract from thorough consideration of the actual job. o Create a Structure Chart This shows where the job sits in the team and how it relates to other roles, clearly showing reporting relationships etc. Again try not to focus on grades. ...High-performance business Create value with technology Avoiding the austerity trap By Bob Suh In today's uncertain business climate, IT investment is often in the budgetary crosshairs. But in fact, now is the ideal time to upgrade existing infrastructure and invest in next-stage technologies that create value. Management decision making can be fairly straightforward when the economy is clearly headed in one direction or the other. When it is growing, business leaders invest to meet demand. When it is shrinking, they cut costs to meet quarterly earnings expectations. But what do executives do when the economy has bottomed out and growth is somewhere on the horizon but not yet robust? When the obvious cuts have been made and pricing power is a distant memory, how do companies continue delivering shareholder value while they wait for vigorous growth to kick in? What will it take to achieve high performance in these uncertain times? Outlook 2004, Number 1 55 And speaking of costs, what role does a capital-intensive function like information technology play in this quest for high performance? Many business leaders are understandably wary of IT investments. Although spending on information technology has increased substantially in the past 10 years, many technology projects have been characterized by sketchy metrics, long cycle times to new products and unpredictable results. No wonder many executives have come to regard IT investments as a necessary evil and information...

...2. The Consent (continuare) As you know the juridical act, is the expression of smbdy's will meant to produce legal effects. From a juridical point of view, the juridical will of the parties is a complex issue. It is composed by two elements: - the consent; - the consideration. The consent means the externalized decision or intent to conclude a contract. In order to be valid, the consent must fulfill several conditions as follows; 1. To be expressed by person who is mentally capable to conclude the act. It means that the parties must have judgment or discernment, must be able to understand the nature of the act and its consequences. A pers that has a full concrete capacity is presumed by law to have judgment or discernment. This legal presumption may be overruled by proving the temporary lack of judgment of the person in question, as for example for temporarily mental illness, or influence of drugs. You can find this in the civil code Art. 1205 paragraph 1 2. To be expressed by a pers. who has the intention to produce legal effects. This condition is not fulfilled when for example the pers. Is only kidding, he has no real intention to conclude a contract – informal bet. 3. To be externalized. It means that the consent must result from the words or even the actions of the parties. In this respect several problems arise in case of silence. Generally in our law the consent cannot be implied and therefore in case of silence it is considered that there is no consent...

...OPENING STATEMENT Death sentences are imposed in a criminal justice system that treats you better if you are rich and guilty than if you are poor and innocent."Death is... an unusually severe punishment, unusual in its pain, in its finality, and in its enormity... The fatal constitutional infirmity in the punishment of death is that it treats 'members of the human race as non humans, as objects to be toyed with and discarded. There is no evidence that the death penalty is more effective than long term punishment. States that have the death penalty do not have lower crime rates than states without the death penalty. "Retribution is just another word for revenge, and the desire for revenge is one of the lowest human emotions. To kill the person who has killed someone close to you, is simply to continue the violence which destroys the avenger as well as the offender. Expressing one’s violence simply reinforces the desire to express it. The U.S. Department of Justice’s own figures reveal that between 2001 and 2006, 48 percent of defendants in death penalty cases were African Americans. African Americans make up 13% of the us population, and yet 50% of death row inmates are African American. The biggest argument against the death penalty is that is incredibly biased. A study by Yale showed that African Americans are 3 times more likely to receive the death penalty that white defendants. Since the reinstatement of the modern death penalty, 87 people have been freed from death...

...Alaska Sea Grant Marine Advisory Program The Business of Fish Handout 6 Analyzing Your Financial Ratios Taken from http://www.va-interactive.com/inbusiness/editorial/finance/ibt/ratio_analysis.html Overview Any successful business owner is constantly evaluating the performance of his or her company, comparing it with the company's historical figures, with its industry competitors, and even with successful businesses from other industries. To complete a thorough examination of your company's effectiveness, however, you need to look at more than just easily attainable numbers like sales, profits, and total assets. You must be able to read between the lines of your financial statements and make the seemingly inconsequential numbers accessible and comprehensible. This massive data overload could seem staggering. Luckily, there are many well-tested ratios out there that make the task a bit less daunting. Comparative ratio analysis helps you identify and quantify your company's strengths and weaknesses, evaluate its financial position, and understand the risks you may be taking. As with any other form of analysis, comparative ratio techniques aren't definitive and their results shouldn't be viewed as gospel. Many off-the-balance-sheet factors can play a role in the success or failure of a company. But, when used in concert with various other business evaluation processes, comparative ratios are invaluable. This discussion contains descriptions and examples of the eight major...

Indeed, Apple has outsourced various functions in terms of manufacturing, assembly and logistics as its contract manufacturers and outsourcing companies can perform several value-creation functions at a lower cost due to low-cost location and other competitive advantages. We are living in a globalized economy in which overhead and production costs are the single most important financial factor that can determine a product’s success or failure. Apple produces most of its products such as iPods, iPod minis and iPhone in China, thus ensuring a very low production cost and an increased US market attractiveness (Scribd, 2011).The single most important reason for outsourcing iPod and iPhone production to China is that the manufacturing costs are significantly lower than what...

...When did the crisis start? Anti-government demonstrations began in March of 2011, part of the Arab Spring. But the peaceful protests quickly escalated after the government's violent crackdown, and rebels began fighting back against the regime. By July, army defectors had loosely organized the Free Syrian Army and many civilian Syrians took up arms to join the opposition. Divisions between secular and Islamist fighters, and between ethnic groups, continue to complicate the politics of the conflict. What is happening to Syrians caught in the war? More than four years after it began, the full-blown civil war has killed over 220,000 people, half of whom are believed to be civilians. Bombings are destroying crowded cities and horrific human rights violations are widespread. Basic necessities like food and medical care are sparse. The U.N. estimates that 7.6 million people are internally displaced. When you also consider refugees, more than half of the country’s pre-war population of 23 million is in need of urgent humanitarian assistance, whether they still remain in the country or have escaped across the borders. Where are they fleeing to? The majority of Syrian refugees are living in Jordan and Lebanon, where Mercy Corps has been addressing their needs since 2012. In the region’s two smallest countries, weak infrastructure and limited resources are nearing a breaking point under the strain. In August 2013, more Syrians escaped into northern Iraq at a newly opened...
