The case presents an information system (DDS - Decision Support type of information system) as a solution, to monitor real time results of test scores, grades, reading, writing, and various school related activities. This information system will allow teachers to evaluate reoccurring deficiencies and proficiencies in students, the ability to recognize a deficiency will allow the educator to develop a specific system to tackle those deficiencies and improve the student’s performance. The ability to recognize proficiencies will allow the educator to develop a specific system to further challenge the excelling students to improve his/hers current talents and scores. The case presents an argument from parents of “Green Zone” students which states that more funds are being used on...

...students.So,they are mainly concentrated on how they can improve the academic standards of the students by bringing out this Data Driven program in the schools. 2. How do business intelligence systems provide a solution to this problem? What are the inputs and outputs of these systems? Ans: The data driven systems are turning out to be a very good programs for the improvement of the students. These are helping the school teachers, principles, and other staff members to identify the problem that student is facing in his academic year study. These are helping the school officials to analyses where the student is not doing good by immediately collecting the records of the student from various test grades. These systems are also helping the schools to provide more necessary information and sources to the students if necessary. When coming to the inputs and outputs of these systems they are giving best results in various schools like Montgomery, 90 percent of kindergartners were able to read at the level required by standardized testing, with minimal differences among racial and socioeconomic groups. These numbers are up from 52 percent of African-Americans, 42 percent of Latinos, and 44 percent of low-income students just seven years ago. Also, the system has effectively identified students with abilities at an earlier age. In many ways, the data-driven systems build from the wealth of standardized testing information. 2. What management, organization, and technology issues...

...Data-Driven Entertainment/Education Friberger et al. defines data games as “games where gameplay and/or game content is based on real-world data external to the game, and where gameplay supports the exploration of and learning from this data.” They also use a taxonomy to explore the categories of such games. They propose to use open and linked data to procedurally generate game content. One of their examples was Open Trumps based on the popular card game Trumps. The data source for the game content is a UN database of countries and demographics indicators. However, procedural content generation entails some transformation of data into the game content. As the authors caution, we must be careful of transformations that “lead to an unacceptable loss of veracity in relation to the original source.” In our work, the game content is the original data [1, 2, 3]. Moreover, our perspective in this endeavor to foster understanding is general instead of a game focused. Thus, it is from this general point of view that we classify data-driven applications. The figure below illustrates the classification matrix: rows represent data velocity (static or dynamic) and columns the goals of the application. The first type of goals is informational: the application just provides specific information to the user usually through visualization; interaction with the data is minimal. The second type of goal focuses on interaction with the data for sensemaking; applications in this case are usually...

...of the VA Medical System - VPT2 Data-Driven Decision Making - C207 August 12th, 2015 Forecasting the Future Female Veteran Population and Their Increased Use of the VA Medical System The use of the Veterans Affairs medical care system has significantly increased over the last decade due to two recent wars and an aging Vietnam Veteran population. As females have been accepted in all roles into the military, their population within the military has progressively multiplied over the last three decades. Since females in general typically use healthcare at a higher rate than their male counterparts, it is necessary to ascertain if the female veteran population and their usage of the VA is trending in the direction of growth. Should the numbers be trending in a manner that shows significant growth, a further in-depth study would be indicated to determine future growth beyond the course of this analysis could provide. This trending information as well as future studies, should they be indicated, would assist VA management in determining future monetary and staffing budgets. Data Collection To evaluate the potential for growth within the female veteran population, data was collected online from: Veterans Affairs (VA) detailing veteran population statistics by state, age group, and gender; a Women’s Health Veteran’s Affairs Publication detailing the socio-demographic, utilization, and Costs of Care of female veterans; and data was also collected that included the...

...the use of data-driven learning approaches. Most of these have focused on the acquisition of vocabulary items, including a wide range of information necessary for their correct usage. One type of vocabulary that has been investigated has been that used mostly in academic writing. However, there has been little empirical study into the acquisition and use of two types of vocabulary common in academic writing, linking adverbials and reporting verbs. In addition, most studies into data-driven learning and academic vocabulary acquisition have assumed that the acquisition of this vocabulary will automatically lead to better academic writing. However, there have been no studies which have confirmed these assumptions. This study will attempt to fill these gaps in the literature. It investigates the acquisition of linking adverbials and reporting verbs, two sets of vocabulary that are difficult for ESL writers to master, with the use of data-driven learning techniques. In addition to looking at the acquisition of this vocabulary specifically, this study investigates whether these approaches also contribute to students’ progress in their academic writing. Results indicate that data-driven learning techniques do in fact help students acquire and better employ linking adverbials in their writing, although they do not help in the case of reporting verbs. No correlations to increases in student essay scores were found. However, this study still shows the possible value of data-driven learning...

Code should be easy for a new developer to understand (or yourself a year later). Don't optimize for performance unless there's empirical evidence that it is needed. Be wary of building or using frameworks that make the application harder to understand. If you do need a framework (e.g. Spring for dependency injection), make sure the application's business logic isn't tied to the framework in any way. Maintainability Good naming is crucial. You should be able to read the code aloud, and a person listening to you should be able to understand what the code you are reading does Put responsibilities in the right place. Enforce a clean separation of the application's layers. For example, the UI code should not know anything about the database structure. Use well-known patterns and common idioms for the language. Maintain consistency at the module, application, and team level. There's always more than one way to do something, but doing it consistently is more important than finding the absolute best way. ...PURPOSEFUL CHRISTIAN LIFE Definition: Purposeful: having a useful purpose; acting with a clear aim and with determination. Christian Life: showing the qualities that are thought of as typical of a Christian, Christ like.. Some people say that we are just evolutionary result of the survival of the fittest Others think of reincarnation Most of our lives, we have been searching for a purpose for our lives, one that has a deeper meaning than just the basic action of existing on this planet. We felt that our lives were meant for something; and something meaningful and worthwhile that would give us a true reason to live. We searched for this purpose in things like relationships, a career, a job, a hobby, in school, and in many more things, only to find disappointment at every turn; because though these things could preoccupy us for a moment, they would ultimately fail at fulfilling our spiritual desire for a meaningful life. Then we find God, and we feel that we see our purpose clearly. We are full of excitement and hopeful to see what God will do with our lives. The overwhelming joy and excitement that drives us motivates us to share the good news with everyone around us, telling them of the great purpose that God has in store for our lives. We devote ourselves to learning more, growing more, and doing more for God. We surround ourselves with more and more people who call themselves Christians to glean as much as we can from them, astounded at the miraculous experiences...

...Doran Roberts 11JA November11, 2014 English Language – Purpose Driven Essay The book “The Purpose Driven Life” written by Christian writer Rick Warren is one of the top selling Christian books of all time. This book impacted me in many ways. This book tells me that I was created for God’s family, fashioned to be like Christ, designed to serve and ordained for God’s mission. This book impacts me most when it reassures me that I was created to serve (ministry) and because of this I have a better understanding of my life and why it should be purpose driven. In chapter 3 the quote that really popped out to me was “Nothing matters more than knowing God’s purpose for your life, and nothing can compensate for not knowing them.” This quote brought me to the realization that when I know what God called me to do I will have a better appreciation for God and his purpose for my life. When I know my purpose in life I would have a drive to fulfill my purpose on earth and strive everyday to continually better myself. I never knew what my purpose in life was until I had a transforming experience that brought me to better knowledge of what my purpose in life was. All my life I had a passion for playing the drums. I started out at the tender age of five beating on pots and pans. Anything that made a sound I used it. My God mother and God-brother saw deep inside of me that my purpose in life was to play the drums for the...

If you run the program now (Press F5) you will see your window now has a button labeled Command1 in the center of it, but if you click the button it doesn't do anything. So lets wire things up so our program will say "Hello, World" when you click the button. Close out of your running program so you are back to the main design environment (pictured above) Visual Basic allows you to do event driven programming. This is a concept that is very powerful and easy to use. Event driven programming works as follows: Visual Basic has many different events defined that...

...Introduction The finest way of transforming today’s family standard to achieve its highest potential possible is through the means of effective educational system. Being freed from the oppression of illiteracy, gaining knowledge and skills, and a process of critical self-upgrading is the best art of building a progressive family. Pursuing adult learning as a community is one way of taking this advantage. Adult learning is the process where adults are engaged in systematic learning activities in order to gain new forms of knowledge, skills, attitudes, or values. Modern family is, a group of people affiliated by recognized birth by marriage, or co-residence, which is developed in the middle of the 20th century in a period of stability. This modern family is more like the USA or Switzerland families which or of social reconstruction after the second world war (as for other European countries). The effect of adult learning in this modern family is the way that adult learning can alter the communities’ culture as a whole through instilling into individuals the purpose of learning, readiness of learning and the motivation to learn. I believe the foundation of every perfect and progressive society is the success story of the families that exist with in. Everyone has a specific purpose in life; everyone’s task is unique as is his specific opportunity to accomplish that very mission. Humans by nature have different interests and passions on diverse kind of paradigm that planet earth...
