INTRODUCTION

Planning a wedding is one of the most exciting and most stressful events in one’s lifetime and in
Planning this there is a number of factors that need to be considered such as the guest list, venues, and suppliers. Hence on the quest to organize the scheduling and selection of activities for planning
Of weddings a database System will be designed to accommodate its operation, providing a high degree of Usability and efficiency for the people using the application within the company.

The database would be built in Oracle having forms that provide at least the minimum basic CRUD
(Create, Read, Update, and Delete) functions and the following are the specific forms required;
Basic wedding detail form, Supplier type form, Event type form, Supplier detail form, Event detail
Form along with the advanced forms such as Wedding event schedule form, wedding event guest form, wedding event supplies and company work schedule summary.

The system will be constructed from a number of normalized tables that will be used to construct the
Forms and an entity relationship diagram will be formed showing relationships between entities and
There attributes. More specifically, the system would show which client has booking for a particular
Wedding along with the suppliers and staff member assigned to set up events. It would also indicate the time period for each event and which events that will be booked by the different clients. The
System will be designed to ensure that the wedding activities being held would not be doubling
Booked or be left out entirely.

NORMALIZATION
According to Beyon-Davies 2002 (p- 410),
“Normalization is the process of identifying the logical associations between data items and designing a database which will represent such association but without suffering from file maintenance anomalies.”
Normalization Process
The following is the normalization process which is used to achieve the principles discussed by Beyon-Davies.
1. Collection of all un-normalized data.
2. Conversion of all un-normalized data into 1NF (First Normal Form) Tables by eliminating repeating groups
3. Conversion of 1NF Tables to 2NF (Second Normal Form) Tables by eliminating redundant data.
4. Conversion of 2NF Tables to 3NF (Third Normal Form) Tables by eliminating Columns Not Dependent on the primary key.
5. Conversion of 3NF to BCNF (Boyce-Codd Normal Form) Tables if necessary.
Based on the procedure previously discussed the normalization process for the data items of the wedding planner system is shown below.
In this system there are four repeating groups present. In the UNF form entails the repeating groups present.
The 1st repeating group is Event Guest and Guest
The 2nd repeating group is Event Supplies, Supplies, Supplier, and Supplier Type
The 3rd repeating group is Event Staff and Staff
The 4th repeating group is Supplier Staff and Supplier
The 5th repeating group is Event Venue and Venue
