Amusingly, when David plays his music, he reveals that he will be the most powerful king, and his chorus echoes, “Saul has slain thousands, and David his ten thousands” (I Samuel 18:7). This stirs jealousy and anger within Saul and he begins to take action against him. With David’s proclamation of future king, Saul would always pay attention to him. This leads to “an evil spirit from God” to possess Saul, which leads to himself “raving within his house, while David is playing the lyre” (I Samuel 18:10). It was found that only one textbook correctly gave Durkheim’s own definition while the other definitions showed little or no relationship to the original concept. The original concept was based on an analysis of the economy, more particularly the business cycle, and refers only to the structure of society and not to the mental state of the individual. An attempt is made to discover the source of such a widespread and well-accepted error.
