In my day-to-day life, I would like to address and solve the problem that I face with time management. I have found that in the past time management has been a major issue, not only in my personal life but also academically and professional. I am starting a new school, have a job and have a family to take care of. I want to make an effort to give all my endeavors my all, in order to do this I would like to refine my time management skills.
To develop time management skills I plan on researching a plan of action from the textbook. The information that I have found was in Chapter one. The textbook gives various steps to better time management such as setting goals for you. Goals are an important part of life, but it is even more important for my time management plan. I will be seeking steps that the book suggests for time management and determine which steps will be beneficial for particular part of my life that I will be evaluating. Not all the steps will be beneficial for me, but most will. I will determine which steps will be necessary to use, for example, how my personal life will affect my professional life or how my academic life may affect my personal life.
I will begin to set goals for myself before determining a time management plan. I will set short term goals along with long term goals for the part of my life that I need to work on time management plan. I will start with my long term goals that have the largest scope and a longer timeline to achieve. The timeline for long term goals can vary from six months to a year. The goal I set for my academic life will lead to achieving my goal in my professional life. For example I will finish with an Accounting Degree within two years so that I will be able to work in the financial field or accounting. I would have

Day Trading

...INTRODUCTION Day trading is defined by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as “to buy and sell stocks throughout the day in the hope that their stocks will continue climbing or falling in value for the seconds to minutes they own the stock, allowing them to lock in quick profits.” This promise of “quick profits” accompanying a new rule that gave priority to trades of less than 1,000 shares (Small Orders Executions Systems) which “leveled the playing” for small investors and the ease that websites gives people to short-term borrowing of capital to allow people to make big trades with little money has left to the growth of day traders around the world. Day traders tend to ignore the other part of the SEC definition, which seemed to be added as a caveat to the promise of wealth. It reads that “day trading is extremely risky and can result in substantial financial losses in a very short period of time.” Still with the levity of the SEC’s warning and many studies sighting that most day traders end up losing money in the long term, some trading websites have seen a growth of 50% from year to year of active accounts on their sites. The question should be asked then with day trading is “why with the inherent risks that most if not all day traders fall into, why someone would continue the practice of day trading?” EXTRA INFORMATION I FOUND. {This borrowing of funds (leveraging) has even became the marketing ploy for CMC, the biggest market maker in Canada, to entice...

Day of Judgement

...DAY OF JUDGMENT By Amr Khaled Start thinking about Judgment Day! But I don't want to be just telling stories, I want you to start imagining, with all your senses that you are there now. I'll try as hard as I can to draw a picture just as if you were really standing there. But please, forget that I am giving a lecture now, I'm not. We are just sitting together, imagining together what will happen on Resurrection Day (Judgment Day). My aim today is not to scare you. My aim is to tell you the facts about that day. How will it begin? "The Trumpet will just be sounded, when all that are in the heavens and on earth will swoon, except such as it will please Allah (to exempt). Then a second one will be sounded, when, behold, you will be standing and looking on!" "The trumpet shall be sounded, when behold! From the sepulchers (men) will rush forth to their Lord!" Today we will only speak about one topic– the standing on resurrection day waiting for judgment. After the trumpet is blown, your body parts start to join together, and your bones start to merge once more. Your brain starts thinking, your eyes open and you start to have life back again. Imagine what this great blow will do? It will bring back all the sand of earth that you were made from thousands of years ago. Imagine the greatness and power of this blow? The trumpet width is like the width of earth and skies together. Your grave cracks and opens from the mightiness of the blow. Are you visualizing this great...

Veteran's Day

...Veteran’s Day is the yearly event where people remember those who died for us, and our freedom. As an 8th grader, I’ve come to realize what a truly special event this is and why it is so important not only to me and my classmates but our country as a whole. At Rockcastle County Middle School, Veteran’s Day is a really big deal. Teachers, staff and principals work weeks before November 11th to make sure everything is perfect for the men and women who gave their all. After all, how much is too much when we are recognizing the people who gave it all for us and our freedom ? In the past two years, I have witnessed many hours of preparation and planning for this very special day. Teachers decorate their doors, students decorate the halls and our gym is decked out in red, white and blue. As a school and community, we want to make sure that our Veteran’s know without a doubt that we honor and respect each of them for their courage and bravery. Students work on speeches and the music is perfect. Veteran’s are greeted as if they are royalty and to some degree they really are. With all the work and preparation that goes into this day our school is gradually transformed into a living tribute to all who served. The Signal is there to take special photos in order to capture the events and the guests that we so warmly welcome. In my opinion, everyone, especially the Veteran’s, are excited about this heartwarming day. As a young girl, I have heard the stories my step-dad has...

Training Day

...I watched the movie Training Day. This movie shows many examples of unmoral and unethical police work. Denzel Washington is a narcotics detective for the LAPD named Alonzo Harris. His methods of enforcing the law are very questionable during the film, if not corrupt. Harris’ job is to train rookie Jake Hoyt over a 24-hour period. Many Ethical dilemmas arise for Hoyt and this presents questions for him whether or not to follow along with Harris, and if his methodology for ridding the streets in South Central Los Angeles is right or wrong. After breakfast the two get Alonzo’s low rider and hit the streets of South Central Los Angeles. They first spot a teenage girl dealing drugs in the park. And the stop the college student buyers and instead of arresting the buyers Alonzo takes the drugs and lets the students go. Jake would have done the opposite in this situation before. Before long Alonzo tells Jake he has to take a hit of this marijuana. But Jake doesn’t want to. Alonzo puts a gun to his head until he does. Alonzo says the failure to take the drug on the street could get him killed by a dealer. After smoking the marijuana Alonzo tells him that it was laced with PCP. This hypothetical question was put to the test in the movie Training Day, a movie based on ethical dilemmas involving two police officers. Later in the movie when driving the streets Jake notices a young high school girl getting sexually attacked by two men in alley way. This first thing Jake does it jumps out...

Rns of the Day

...Please refer to the accompanying background notes on this theme to prepare for your classroom discussion. Subsuming the personal to the professional identity The novel presents Stevens as having subsumed his personal identity within his professional identity. Consider the following extracts and determine how they serve to present Steven’ views about identity to us. Read the following extracts from the Prologue. Consider how Stevens views his errors- are the errors he has made in his life only attributable to a faulty staff plan? Note how he brings up Miss Kenton- what rationale does he give for seeking her out- personal or professional? As so often occurs in these situations, I had become blind to the obvious- that is until pondering over the implications of Miss Kenton’s letter finally opened my eyes to the simplest truth: that these small errors of recent months have derived from nothing more sinister than a faulty staff plan. So it was in this instance; that is to say, my receiving the letter from Miss Kenton, containing as it did, along with its long, rather unrevealing passages, an unmistakable nostalgia for Darlington Hall, and- I am quite sure of this- distinct hints of her desire to return here, obliged me to see my staff plan afresh. Only then did it strike me that there was indeed a role that a further staff member could crucially play here; that it was, in fact, this very shortage that had been at the heart of all my recent troubles. Clothing, identity,...

Memorial Day

...Memorial Day Memorial Day is an appropriate title for this story because it mourns the people that died in WWII. There could be a few reasons why that boy died in the story. He could have jumped in the pool and couldn’t swim and drowned. He also could have dove in and hit his head on the bottom of the pool and knocked himself out. Memorial day is appropriate title because of the death that happened at the pool. First of all, Memorial day is an appropriate title because a boy died at the pool on the day we mourned fallen WWII soldiers. People at the pool that day Mourned the boy’s death by talking about at and having so much shock towards it. Just how everybody Mourned Fallen WWII soldiers the boy was Mourned on the same day which is kind of ironic. It seems like the boys may have killed himself on purpose on memorial day to be with someone from his family that died in WWII. In my opinion, the boy could have died a few ways, he could have known he couldn’t swim jumped in and drowned because he didn’t know how to swim. In that case, he would have wanted to die on purpose, which tells me that he maybe wanted to be with someone that he never met as a child to meet in heaven. Someone else could have gone swimming with him and could have knocked him out by jumping on him or they could have drowned him purposively. In conclusion, many people mourned the death of the boy at the pool on memorial day. Just like WWII soldiers getting mourned because they died. The whole death...

Day of the Dead

...THE DAY OF THE DEAD Day of the Dead (Spanish: Día de Muertos) is a Mexican holiday in which people pray and remember family and friends that have died and they celebrate the return of the spirits of the deceased ancestors. To create an atmosphere that a wandering spirit would like to visit the family often creates dishes that the loved ones liked. It lasts three days long and originated from ancient traditions and rituals celebrating the death of the ancestors. The central symbol of the day of the dead is a skull it symbolizes the death, rebirth or return of spirits and is used to honor the dead. During this holiday you see figures of skeleton of skulls-calacas. People dress up in (traditionally) wooden skulls to represent the dead as well. Calacas are seen wearing bright clothes, playing, dancing and singing, to remind the living to embrace death instead of fearing it and to anticipate a happy afterlife. This joyous view of death emphasizes the Mexican belief that the dead don’t like to be thought of in sorrow and that the afterlife is a joyous place. A Mexican artist created a drawing of a skeleton rich woman and called her “La Calavera de la Catrina” or the female dandy. It was used to represent a Mexican upper class woman. Many rich people thought them selves immortally, less likely to catch diseases that poor people had; when in fact they were no more immune to diseases as the poor. Posada’s powerful image illustrate that all people, great or small, eventually...

Remembering on Memorial Day

...With Memorial Day right around the corner, I've seen a lot of posts telling me to remember what Memorial Day is all about, that it's more than just a BBQ. They are beautiful and inspiring and while I appreciate each and every one, I just have to say that I'm not likely to forget. I will remember always because I think about it always; on Memorial Day, on Veteran's Day, Armed Forces Day, D-Day and the anniversary of Pearl Harbor... and every other day of the year. Maybe not every minute of every day but at least once a day, something reminds me of the sacrifices that others have made on my behalf. I'm not a weepy or sentimental person by nature but over the last 10 years or so, I've cried a million tears in the names of soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines that I don't even know. It doesn't take much. A news article, a Facebook video, a song on the radio... all of these bring to mind a picture of courage, honor, commitment and sacrifice, things we may not stumble across too often in our daily lives but that are the very essence of every one of our troops. In my home, in my heart, these things are revered. I have cried at news articles reporting one more who will never come home. I cry at homecomings, too, but those are tears of joy. I cry for the things they've missed and the families who've missed them and I cry for the people who will never understand what their sacrifice really means. And Friends, I want you to know that I cry for your sons and daughters...

The Dead: The Day Of The Dead

...The Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday that brings families and friends together to pray for the souls of loved ones in their unworldly embark in the afterlife while awaiting their spiritual visit. This tradition is strongly rooted in past indigenous, and Christian practices. The Catholic holiday of All Souls Day was initially what brought The Day of the Dead to light when Spanish priests saw similarities between All Souls Day and the rituals of the Aztecs that they had to honor the dead. In order to convert their beliefs into a more Catholic religious based way, the priests moved Aztec rituals to coincide along with the day of All Souls Day. In this way, The Day of the Dead had rooted from All Souls Day, as a way to influence religion on...

Single on Valentine's Day

...around the time I turned 14. On Valentine's Day, I waited in line with hordes of other teenagers just for a chance to get into the store. I remember wishing two things. One: That I wasn't the only person there with her mother. Two: That the cute boy whom I could see through the store window was skimming through the aisles picking out a gift for me. It was such a scene — the hundreds of greeting cards with messages of love and romance, guys in their school uniforms looking uncomfortable as they tried to pick the perfect stuffed animal for their girlfriends, many of whom were beside them giving them not-so-subtle hints. I wanted so desperately to be a part of this. Unfortunately, Valentine's Day passed and I received nothing but a lecture from my father on how Western capitalism was ruining our culture. The next Valentine's Day, I still didn't have a boyfriend, but I did receive a greeting card from a secret admirer. It would have been flattering, except the card featured a picture of an office desk with neatly arranged paper clips and pens. I can't remember what it said inside the card, but it hardly mattered. While other women inspire candlelit dinners and marriage proposals, some guy felt the need to tell me that I was as exciting as office supplies. Not to say that all my Valentine's Days have been dull. I had a particularly memorable one the year I was dating, long-distance, a guy who lived in England. I had been waiting all day for him to surprise me. I had thought up several...
