Somethings I would have to do as a daycare assistant/Preschool Teacher would be helping young children in education and helping plan out activities throughout a day and providing care and protection for them as well. Some skill that you have to do this job is patience and effort and to show care because they are still young children who will need your help to exceed in growing up and to function as a young healthy kid. T be a Preschool you would at least need your high school diploma and must earn a bachelor’s degree and a Child development associate certificate is often required in most states. For me to become a daycare assistant I’ll be planning on taking Patch Classes/Training which would be able to help me with childcare or infant

Assignment 1: Training and Development in Small Business

...in Small Business Daycare centers are used most often by working parents, single mom’s and dad’s and sometimes stay at home parents who want some time to themselves a couple days a week. It’s a great alternative if you don’t have relatives that are available to watch your children that are not old enough to go to elementary school. Daycare centers should provide the emotional and social needs for babies that are crucial during the first two years of life in developing the learning structures of the brain. They provide a loving environment that will give your child a chance to grow and learn with other children their age and generally centers take kids as young as 6 weeks old to 6th grade. A center that has an after school program is another great way to supply additional income to the center by offering after school activities to keep kids busy until they are picked up by their parent after they are done working. Daycare centers that are not part of a big chain lack standard training for their personal. The person’s that are in the room’s with the younger kids are normally mothers, grandmothers or young adults that love kids but aren’t necessarily trained to watch them and nurture them during their development stages. Training should be a very big part of hiring teachers in daycare centers and it should be on-going where seminars should be attended or bring in some outside trainers that can help in staying current on what is expected from daycare teachers. The director...

Research Proposal

...my research paper is Brownstone Day School. Brownstone is a for profit organization that has been in business and family owned in Lakewood, Ohio since 1989. We are a full time daycare center that accepts age range of infant, toddler, preschool and school age. Brownstone participates in two different programs that include the subsidized child care program which is sponsored through Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and Child & Adult Food Care Program. When the director changed in 2010 after replacing the original director of 20 years management took a different turn. Employees that remained on with new director organization and morale decreased. Brownstone no longer felt like a “family” run business even though it was the 2nd generation of the Rafferty family that had taken over. With the change of directors many teachers began to resign and the turn over rate of new teachers reached record numbers. Brownstone is always looking for teachers with any form of a degree to be in compliance with the state. They don't offer a benefits package, 401k plan, sick time and aren't willing to offer a negotiable salary. Brownstone was a top daycare in it's prime but currently struggles to keep in stride with newer and more up to date facilities. I am an infant/toddler teacher and administrative assistant. I started at Tots R Us in October of 2010. I joined Tots R Usat the same time the new director was taking over so I was unable to compare the two managing styles. Besides the...

...each child care center to follow. Whether it is a school system or childcare center administrators and teachers must work together to teach from the curriculums formed so children can learn. How the role of the administrator in program and curriculum planning is different from that of the teacher. Education administrators organize and manage the administration, support systems and activities that facilitate the effective running of an educational institution (AGCAS 2012). For an example, in a childcare center the administrators are the owners, directors, and whatever program that accredited the daycare center through the state. School systems have administrators also. The board of education votes on the school super intendant who schedule meetings to plan a curriculum for the school system to teach by. The school super intendant hires administrators such as principals, and assistant principles to make sure the teachers in the schools are teaching by the curriculum. The teachers are...

Civil Rights

...PKIDs’ PHR www.pkids.org 1 ADVOCACY ADVOCACY Legal Protections for Children with Viral Hepatitis Updated 2006 Overview In the United States, three federal laws are critical in protecting children with viral hepatitis against discrimination in schools, daycare centers, athletic programs, camps and other areas of daily life. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is the most powerful law safeguarding the rights of children in public and private schools and daycare centers. The law also prevents any organization or business from discriminating against a person because of a real or perceived disability, such as an infectious disease. A second law, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, bars schools, colleges and other organizations receiving federal funding from discriminating against children with disabilities. Section 504 identifies chronic liver disease as a “hidden disability.” Most advocates say hepatitis B and C are disabilities that are protected by ADA and Section 504—even though these chronic liver diseases are relatively asymptomatic in children. A third law, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (commonly called FERPA or the Buckley Amendment) prevents school officials from divulging medical information about a student to anyone beyond essential school personnel. ADA also has provisions that protect student medical records. Many states also have civil rights laws that, similar to ADA, protect people with infectious diseases and other disabilities...

Generation Me

...Young people today feel no attachment to duty or to group cohesion which is clearly highlighted throughout “Generation Me”. “Generation Me” discusses the attitudes and societal views of the younger generation; there has been a major shift in thoughts throughout the past decades of generations. This change of thought among the various generations is seen through the attitudes, political views, and social awareness of individuals within each group. Family traditions as well as cultural values do not hold nearly as much importance as they have in past generations. Younger generations are concerned more about their personal commitments and their own life rather than belonging to a larger group. In past generations family was viewed as being extremely important; however, in current generations families are no longer as close-knit as they used to be and therefore do not hold as much value as they should. Family traditions do not stick and are not carried out for second and third generation American citizens. Younger generations have in a sense become more “Americanized” than their grandparents or even great-grandparents ever were. With the passing of decades, family traditions and celebrated holidays have greatly declined; during holidays my grandmother does majority of the cooking. She does not use a lot of processed or ready-to-cook foods, rather she makes everything from scratch the way that she was taught when she was younger. Her mother, or my great-grandmother, came...

Because of this decision, institutionalized disabled individuals now have a choice in whether they are to remain in their present facility or to move out into the community. The Court’s landmark decision in that case undoubtedly challenges our Federal, state, and local governments to develop more opportunities for individuals with disabilities through additional accessible systems of cost-effective community-based services. After the Olmstead decision, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommended that each state develop a written “Olmstead Plan” to ensure compliance with the Supreme Court’s decision. At the date of this proposal, the State of California has been...
