Water Use in California

Everyone in America knows that California is in a severe drought, but how we got in a drought? A lot of a people blame it on how us Californians are ignorant people who don’t know how to preserve anything, others blame it on how it doesn’t rain here? Well it’s a little bit of both and other reasons affect it as well. Although the use of water has benefited the businessmen,cities,and farmers it has also severely harmed the the environment and Native Americans. The use of our water has helped farmers feed twenty five percent of our Americans. Most of our population live in big cities which a lot of our people will need water. Document 1 states,”The water supply that she has now has now has been developed from time to time during the last 50 years, and the city has outgrown it. In San Francisco there are many homes where sufficient homes can not be had for a bath.” This quote is saying that San Francisco water supply is terrible and they need more fresh water for the people. There are people who can’t take showers because they don't have enough water. Since the city is expanding there will be more water needed for more people. This would greatly benefit the city and economy because when people feel fresh and comfortable more work can be done. Another reason is if San Francisco has another big fire like the one the one it had in 1906 we would need the water to kill the fire. Document 1 states. “ san francisco attempted to supplement her fresh-water with a salt-water supply drawn from the ocean--on emergency supply in case of fire.” This shows how san francisco really needs a fresh water source. It won't be fair for people who work all day to be getting only drops of water when they should be getting the more resources. All in all, I would say that san francisco needs a big water supply for all the people who work there and live
