...Assignment 1: DDS, BI, Business Analytics, and Predictive Analytics LaShonda Spell Prof. S. Mirajkar CIS 356 Operating a successful business today involves utilizing the correct tools to make the best decisions for that business. The main tools that are used for making critical business decisions are DSS, DDS, BI, Business Analytics and Predictive Analytics systems. The concepts/ systems mentioned assist management in the major decision-making processes by providing crucial operational data in comprehensible formats for monitoring/ reviewing and analyzing. Making the best decisions regarding business operations determine the success or failure of the company and ensures that all business strategies are implemented and effective. In this essay, there is a brief overview of the similarities/ differences, methodologies/ technologies and evaluation of the capabilities of DDS, BI, Business Analytics and Predictive Analytics systems. Similarities and Differences among DDS, BI, Business Analytics, and Predictive Analytics regarding business scope/origins /histories/ methodologies/ technologies DDS (Data Distribution Service) are data communications based on the standards managed by the OMG (Object Management Group). The standards set by the OMG of DDS describe different latency levels of data communications for distributed applications (Twin Oaks Computing, Inc., 2011). ...just market leader & challenger but all players in the industry were playing with keen interest because of the size of this industry in India. The Indian DTH Market is projected to become the world’s largest DTH Market in 2012 itself. The regulations that necessitate digitization of television content & signals will also drive the sale of this product in the time to come. The advantage over cable & satellite service providers that it gives, rural & remote transmission because of wireless service, technological advances like electronic program guide that it provides makes it an enticing product for consumers. In race to acquire maximum customers companies have been fiercely fighting on the price point as well. Doordarshan’s DD Direct Plus with a conglomeration of free to air channels only plays at a different level for rural masses & economy seekers. The competition in the mainstream is mainly between the Dish TV & Tata Sky, with Airtel Digital TV, Reliance Big TV, Videocon D2H & Sun Direct Plus playing on a different platter. It becomes very interesting to see how these players fight it out between themselves on different fronts of positioning & differentiation; when the core offering of bouquets & prices are almost the same everywhere. All DTH majors bear loss in the industry right now & try to make it good with the help of Value Added Services they have to offer. Because of the inherent potential in the...

It has 741 stores nationally, including 45 BI-LO Supermarkets that also stock Coles private label brands, and more than 100,000 employees. Coles was founded by George James (G.J.) Coles when what was called the "Coles Variety Store" opened on 9 April 1914 in Smith Street in the Melbourne suburb of Collingwood. Expansion to more stores occurred and the chain was regarded as leaders in providing value to Australian shoppers (G. J. Coles learned the retail trade working for his father's "Coles Store" business at Wilmot, Tasmania between 1910 and 1913). Coles' interest in food retailing was spurred in 1958 when it acquired 54 John Connell Dickins grocery stores. It then acquired the Beilby's chain in South Australia in 1959 and 265 Matthews Thompson grocery stores in New South Wales in...

...Looking Beyond The Boundaries – A strategy to gain competitive advantage for the Coles Group of Australia By Aruna Kulatunga MGG9352 Management Processes and Systems. Semester 1, 2007 Looking Beyond The Boundaries – A strategy to gain competitive advantage for Coles Group Executive Summary The Coles Group of Australia has allowed its competitive advantage to slip away to rival Woolworth by failing to differentiate its core strategies and by failing to articulate well the strategies that could have been differentiated. In a bid to gain competitive advantage, this report suggests that the Coles Group should look beyond the company boundaries, extending its value chain to suppliers, partners and customers in a seamless manner, employ process like Total Quality Management and Business Process Reengineering in extending the value chain, bedded in a well structured change management programme and look towards globalisation and franchising along with such counter-intuitive, yet innovative, location strategies such as competitive clustering and saturation marketing to regain its competitive advantage. Page 2 23/10/07 Looking Beyond The Boundaries – A strategy to gain competitive advantage for Coles Group Introduction Strategy gurus Porter (1998, p. 2), Mintzberg (1994), Hamel (1998), Hamel and Prahalad, (1994) Champy and Nohria (1996) and Hammer (quoted in Champy and Nohria, (1996)) agree in principle that in order to meet business needs, specific actions need to be...

...In this research work the hexply 913/ G801 carbon prepegs, which are widely used in aircraft industries is considered and is a type of biphenol A mixed with the four functional epoxy like TGMDA( tetraglycidyl methylene dianilime), which is often used to manufacture high performance epoxy matrix composite parts because of its relatively higher cross linking density over DGEBA. Epoxy resins based on DGEBA (diglycidyl ether of biphenol A), needs active hydrogen (H) or other active groups to open two epoxy rings, Generally the 913 epoxy resin has a bi component blend of DGEBA and TGMDA with a curing agent/ hardener DDS (Diamino diphenyl sulfone), because the TGMDA is intrinsically brittle and it was expected that the blend of these two systems could provide higher strength, modulus, fracture toughness and high temperature resistance. In this research work a methodological procedure was developed to analyze the cure kinetic parameters and the cure behavior of hexply 913/ G810 carbon epoxy prepeg material. The data can be used to optimize the cure cycles and to minimize the cure cycle time and the process cost. The Fig. 1 shows the chemical structure of the TGMDA and the DGEBA epoxy...

...Synthesis of (R,R) Jacobsen’s Salen(Co) Catalyst and Product Analysis of Hydrolytic Kinetic Resolution of Phenyl Glycidyl Ether Grace Sun, Caralyn Takata, Elisabeth Young Thursday Evening Chem 250 Laboratory, Fall 2010 Abstract: It was discovered by Eric N. Jacobsen that the chiral Jacobsen’s Salen(Co) complex 6 is effective in acting as a catalyst for the hydrolytic kinetic resolution (HKR) for regioselecting epoxides. The complex is prepared in four steps. A mixture of 1,2-diaminocyclohexane isomers was selectively crystallized to form 1,2-diaminocyclohexane L-tartrate salt. The salene ligand was formed by reacting 3,5-di-tert-butyl-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde with 1,2-diaminocyclohexane. The Salen(Co) complex was formed by treating the salen ligand with cobalt(II) acetate. Finally, the catalyst was formed by processing the ligand through aerobic oxidation in the presence of acetic acid. The catalyst was used to resolve phenyl glycidyl ether and the diol 9 and epoxide 8 were separated by flash chromatography. The products were characterized through chiral HPLC, IR, H-NMR, and polarimitry tests. HPLC spectrum showed that the catalyst had successfully yielded enantiomerically pure diol 9 and epoxide 8 molecules with 8 being resolved to 99.4% ee and 9 with 93.8% ee. Although (R,R) and (S,S) Jacobsen’s Salen(Co) Catalysts select for different enantiomers of epoxides, reactions utilizing either catalyst resulted in similar yields, within 1%. The data collected is useful in showing...
