Likewise must the deacons be grave, not double-tounged, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre, holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon being found blameless. Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. For thy that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
-------------------------------------------------

Likewise, the deacons (servants, attendants, waiters) should be venerable, honorable, well-ordered in their earthly life and have grace and dignity derived from heavenly citizenship. They should have seriousness of purpose and self-respect in conduct. They should not be double tongued, saying one thing to a person, then giving a different view to another. The deacon (servant, attendant, waiter) should not be given to alcoholic drink or greedy of base gain.

A deacon (servant, attendant, waiter) should keep in mind the revealed, manifested truth that Jesus is the Messiah (through whom we obtain eternal salvation in the kingdom of God) with a pure (free from the defilements of the flesh and the world) conscience (knowing, co-perception = Knowledge?).

Let these also first be examined, scrutinized and seen to be genuine; Then let them use the office of a deacon (servant, attendant, waiter) being blameless, irreproachable, with the absence of even a charge or accusation against them (being unable to be called to account on any of these things).

Also should the deacons (servants, attendants, waiters) wives be venerable, honorable, well-ordered in their earthly life and have grace and dignity derived from their heavenly citizenship. They should have seriousness of purpose and self-respect in conduct. Their wives should not be false accusers (literally, Satan). They should not be fond of alcoholic drink. The deacons (servants, attendants, waiters) wives should be true, genuine and sincere in all things.

Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, presiding over their children and their own family and household well (rightly, excellently). For they that have used the office of a deacon (servant, attendant, waiter) finely, excellently and rightly gains for oneself a good, precious, eminent, commendable, admirable and firm grade of dignity and wholesome influence in the church. They also gain great assurance, free and fearless confidence, cheerful courage which is in Christ Jesus (Thayer indicates “resting on”, which would imply all these things “rest on” Christ Jesus).

Image vs Person

...do (our Images), will be taken from us leaving us with the most important – Who We Are. If who we are, is the only thing that will outlive our life here on Earth, then WHO ARE YOU? What do you want to be remembered for – an IMAGE or a PERSON? An Image is what we put up for people to see; this is not who you really are, it’s just the “Image” of the real person. Sometimes the IMAGE is the same as the PERSON but Many times (if not all the time), the PERSON is far-too far- from the projected image. Nowadays, the world and even the church is plagued with IMAGES: Images in Government Houses, Images in Managerial and “leadership” positions, Images in Presidential Villa; Images behind the pulpit; (…this is how a Pastor should act, this is how a Deacon should talk, this is how the choir should dance etc.), images in the pew (…our denomination don’t shout, don’t talk in this place,...

What Were the Criticisms That the Humanists Made of the Catholic Church?

...What were the criticisms that the humanists made of the Catholic Church? The Catholic Church faced many criticisms from the humanists; the humanists were a group of intellectuals who supported the reform of the church, but did not propose new policies but rather a change to improve he intellectual and moral standards of the clergy. Despite affecting the church and the faith in the church there was not much impact on the ordinary people they were not interested in the corruption within the church providing it I did not affect their everyday worship. Their criticisms affected not only the church but also the followers of the religion, the impact on how it was preached and practised. One of the key criticisms were indulgences, these were pieces of paper signed by the people that could be purchased by the laity, this meant the recipient of the sin was cleansed an often saved their souls. However there was opposition against them as he believed the faith was the only true saviour of their souls. While these were helpful toward the church in the sense that there was an increase popularity of the catholic faith and people saw an escape route to a way to amend their mistakes, it had major negative effects on the church, from the humanists c criticisms, it meant many people saw corruption and truly religious people would have the same views as martin Luther, that only faith could ensure salvation and that it could not be achieved through Christians own effort. This meant that there...

United Pentecostal Church

...For my ethnographic research paper I wrote about the United Pentecostal Church International. After writing that paper and reviewing the research I could not come up with a problem within that specific community to write about. I instead decided to branch out and research the catholic religion, specifically priests and sexual abuse in the Catholic Church. The issue of sexual abuse in the church came to light in the mid 80’s. According to Hertzberg (2010), “the pattern broke into public consciousness in the United States a quarter of a century ago, when a Louisiana priest pleaded guilty to thirty-three counts of crimes against children and was sentenced to prison. Since then, there have been thousands of such cases, civil and criminal, involving many thousands of children and leading to legal settlements that have amounted to more than two billion dollars and have driven several dioceses into bankruptcy.” According to an article written in 2002 in the Boston Globe, the archdioceses of Boston have quietly settled allegations of child molestation of over 70 priests in the past 10 years. These are just a small portion of the cases that were public. The church secretly handled many cases that were never made public (Robinson, 2002). This is just in Boston. There are cases all over the United States as well as overseas. According to Donald Cozzens, “by the end of the mid 1990’s it was estimated that more than a half a billion dollars had been paid in jury awards, settlements...

The Qualifications of the Office of Deacon

...THE RELATION OF THE 7 IN ACTS 6 TO THE OFFICE OF DEACON THE QUALIFICATIONS OF THE OFFICE OF DEACON A Paper Presented to Professor Timothy Moroz Of Liberty University Lynchburg, VA. In Partial Fulfillment Of the Requirements for The Book of Acts BIBL 165-B01 LUO by Bonnie Andreucci July 1, 2014 OUTLINE PAGE 1. Introduction a. Thesis statement b. Purpose of this paper 2. Body a. A chosen life, why me, Lord? b. Qualities of a Deacon c. Ordered by God 3. Conclusion a. Is it worth it? 1. A deacon, a man, a chosen life and servant of God, yet still human and prone to failure; God has His intended appointment for His people. As a church deacon, you must stand for, and on, the gospel; and live as though your life depended on it, because it does. Your life, though you go about day-by-day doing as you will, belongs to God first, the church that you serve, your community, than yourself. I hope to enlighten my reader to the facts of this office, and then the reason it is so important. Rabbi Helen Gelof was a longtime friend of the family, and she just had a way about her. She had grace, knowledge, determination, and a great love of God and those around her. “I believe that a life chosen by God, no matter whether Jew or Gentile, you must follow the law given by God. Rabbi, priest, pastor, or deacon; any leader in a church or temple, God has laws and restrictions in each. Just remember, you cannot always please man...

Martex Corporation has adopted a close relationship between the corporate controllers and the division controllers. Each business unit manager does not have his own staff. Divisional controllers informed directly to the corporate controller. Martex management looks for transparency and impartial access to information, whether operational or financial, at each business unit so that: a) Each business unit's goal will be more congruent with the company's goal b) Top management will be able to make more sound decisions if corporate staff will have access to unbiased information c) Corporate will have better control of the information reported to top management in order to avoid sugar coating of the financial information and operating statistics d) Corporate will have better and quicker response on red flag information on each business unit (for example, a business unit that overspent on marketing expenses instead of previsional budget) We believe that this philosophy can be a real strong asset for the company because it enables producing reliable reports for each division and data statistical budget. ...I believe that college is a time for learning – but not only about academics. In my opinion, it is a time for learning about ones own self. Personal growth and development are key components of the college years and I am so happy I was granted the opportunity to do a study abroad program. It has offered endless possibilities toward accomplishing goals that I never thought Id meet. Ever since I was a young girl, I have dreamed of traveling to a foreign country. I always knew that I wanted to go abroad and study in Europe while in college. Something about being independent, exploring the unknown, learning and experiencing a foreign people and their culture has always appealed to me. Studying abroad was a thoughtful decision for me. I had reached a point in my life where I wanted to see beyond the walls of my own everyday lifestyle and way of thinking and experience something new. While in London I felt as if I gained all of these experiences and more. I was able to broaden my view in many different aspects. As a business major, I was thrilled to learn that Bloch School offered a study abroad program and also one as unique as this program. The Bloch school offered me the opportunity to increase my global and intercultural awareness as well as an opportunity to network and distinguish myself to potential Although I do fit the stereotypical blonde-haired, blue-eyed American, and my Spanish is not in superb condition, I would like to attempt to become a part of Chilean society...

Exploration of a Journal Article in Sociology

...In your own words, describe what type of article it is. Is it a primarily a review of existing research, or a report of new research? How can I tell? If it is a research article, what type of research was involved? Two international professors combined together on an article that discussed possible implications for special education. Dimitris Anastasiou and James M. Kauffman co-authored an article in Exceptional Children entitled A Social Constructionist Approach to Disability: Implications for Special Education. This article primarily discusses a term called the social model of disability. The article defines the social model of disability as a “functional analysis of the body as a machine to be fixed in order to conform with normative values.” This model identifies certain barriers, attitudes and exclusion by society as the main contributory factors in disabling people. While physical, sensory, intellectual, or psychological variations may cause individual functional limitation or impairments; the authors do not believe these conditions lead to “disability unless society fails to take account have and include people regardless of their individual differences.” This paper will further evaluate the article. In a paragraph or two, summarize what you’ve learned about the content of the article. What were the major findings? How were they supported? Why Do People Study in College?

...students can learn more and new knowledge and experience in it. Of course, different people have different reason to study in college. For example, some people want to be to go on a further study after they graduate from the college; some people hope to find a good job after their studying in the college and also some people wish to exchange their present situation through studying in the college. In my opinion, no matter what reason people study in the college for, studying in the college is just a preparation for their future’ life. First of all, students can learn new knowledge and experiences from the studying in the college. There are many teachers, professors with abundant teaching experience who teach students lots of new knowledge and help them to solve the problems in their study. With their help, student can learn a lot of useful basic and professional knowledge which is very helpful for their future’ work. and study. After they finish their study in the college, students go to work in the society and contribute to the different fields. Secondly, students can learn how to arrange their own time reasonably. Before their studying in college, their life often arranged by their parents and their study often arranged by their teachers. It is very different for them to live and study in college, because students studying in college have to arrange their life and study by themselves. They have right to arrange their part time, such as when to get up, when is the sport-time, when...

Macbook, iPhone, iPad, and iPod, the inventions and properties of Apple, are dominating and influencing the mind of teenagers and even the elders alike with its advanced functions and applications that aren’t replicable by brands. Apple’s attainment in this century has led the people to wonder the reason behind its achievements. What kind of organizational and corporate structure does Apple pursue to possess the successes? How does Apple motivate its employees in the work environment? Some give credit to the innovator of Apple, Steve Jobs, whose unorthodox style of leadership is the foundation of the company’s management. Although Apple’s organizational structure, corporate culture may seem to be a new style of management, it is inherently a cultural approach. In addition, it is Steve Jobs who is at the top of the chain of command reinforcing cultural management through his leadership, pursuit of skilled employees, and his firm grounding of corporate culture. Apple is a US-based consumer electronics company known for its ability to come out with path-breaking products. Organisation Behaviour

...There are many definitions of Organizational Behavior (OB). In order to develop a personal operating definition of OB, I read several definitions to help form a framework of what OB means to me. The definitions I read ranged from the very complex to the very simple. Along with many OB definitions, there are also many different types of research. Mole noted four assumptions that are used in all OB research (2002). 1. Behavior is predictable 2. Behavior is caused 3. Behavior has many causes 4. Generalities can be made Personal Operational Definition With the above assumptions, as well as the concept that OB is a combination of different fields of behavioral sciences, I developed the following operational definition of OB. The study of Organizational Behavior is to observe, analyze and learn, what variables influence individual behavior, at both the individual and group levels, and understand how it affects the behavior of the organization. I will use this operating definition in my organization as we plan to make a major software change. The process is underway to replace the maintenance software system with an updated software so that a purchasing package can be procured that will integrate the two. By observing the behavior of the employees, I will be able to better understand the cause of their resistance to change. I will recommend a cross functional team to address all the concerns and determine what features of the old software are important and should be included...
