Dear editor to The Guardian,
On 23 January 2007, your newspaper published an article with the headline “How racist is Britain?”. In your article, Mr. Julian Baggini tells about his experiences in Rotherham and he explains why he does not believe that the British people are racists in general. In the article, Baggini argues that tolerance is the best we can hope for in a multicultural society, like Britain. I want to bring it up to your reader’s attention how big the problems with racism actually are.
In a modern country like Britain, there should not be any kind of segregation or assimilation. Julian Baggini describes how he repeatedly bumped into racially words, in the time he lived in Rotherham. I am outraged by the fact, how people use words like “Paki” and “Goreh”, as an ordinary way to mention different people from yourself. As a student in a school with many different nationalities, I know how important it is to respect each other and especially how important it is not to rank people by status or ethnic background. I speak from personal experience when I say that prejudices are destroyed in the moment you learn a person to know, whom you had prejudices against. How can we fight against prejudices? Baggini concludes that the best we can do is to hope for tolerance in a multicultural society. I have no doubt, that his conclusion is cursory and it will never be enough just to believe in a simple hope. I think we all have to do some more than just believe in a hope. My recommendation is that we all have to face the problems and realize that racism is a taboo subject. We have to strive after a community with successful integration. A community were people from different groups are treated as equals and do not feel a pressure from the

...Public Interest/Government Resume and Cover Letter Tips All of the general rules that apply to resumes and cover letters to prospective employers apply equally to public interest and government employers. Your materials should be error-free, clearly organized, easy to read, and concise. However, there are some additional qualities that public interest and government employers are specifically looking for. You need to demonstrate your commitment to the mission and work of the organization and that you have the skills for the position. Your resume and cover letter must convey your interest, enthusiasm and knowledge of the specific employer you are applying to. It is imperative that you customize your materials to show that your education, experience, and volunteer work have provided you with the skills that relate to the duties of the position. You can convey this commitment by carefully tailoring your materials to the job description. If there is no job posting, use the website to learn all that you can about the organization’s work and the clients they serve. Talk to other students who have worked or volunteered with the organization. (You can find this information by looking at the lists of where students worked in previous summers). Use this information to highlight your relevant experience and illustrate that you can “hit the ground running.” In your resume, you may want to highlight relevant coursework from law school or undergraduate...

The Media Front in Kenya’s 2011 Military Invasion of Somalia

...liaison between me and the university. I would not have made it this far without Mr Pawas and Andy’s help. I would also like to thank Mr Kamwaro of The Standard Library and Eric Njoka of Daily Nation’s for the cooperation they accorded me during the long hours I spent at their libraries. This work would have made no sense with the input of The Daily Nation Newspaper’s news editor Eric Shimoli and Senior reporter John Ngirach as well as the Standard’s Foreign Editor Andrew Kipkemboi and Senior reporter Cyrus Ombati. Through candid interviews these respected journalists gave me invaluable information. Finally I would like to express special thanks to all the other people, whose names are not listed here, for their help and willingness to explain their opinion, and to share their stories. ABSTRACT The study is a content analysis of The Daily Nation and The Standard newspapers in Kenya; the two leading dailies with widest range of coverage. It examines how the print media covered the Kenyan military incursion into Somalia in 2011. Content analysis was supplemented by in-depth interviews from the editors of both newspapers under study and journalists who covered the incursion. The results show that the Daily Nation had the highest number of...

How to Be a Leading Finance Magazine

...How to be a Leading Finance Magazine— A Case Study of Caijing By Lin Hong GRADUATION PAPER May 19, 2010 Paper submitted to the School of Magazineism and Communication of Xiamen University in partial fulfillment of requirements for the bachelors degree. Zhuang Hongming was faculty adviser. ABSTRACT Wang Shuo, the deputy editor of Caijing, a famous finance magazine for its specific editing style in China, said: “We are doing everything possible while the main line has never changed. We report events we think readers should focus on, and stories we consider to be important but not completely to follow market rules. It is not a magazine that simply caters to readers’ taste, but one that is of enlightenment, and of elitist thoughts. " "Independent, exclusive, original" is always the rule that Caijing has been following. Then how the magazine implements the rule successfully is what this research is concerned about, because in today’s chaotic magazine market, manage a magazine in a specific way is a problem related to survival and development. Therefore, the hints from the study of Caijing are significant to the magazine industry. That is the purpose of this paper. Phenomenon Keirsey and Bates's Please Understand Me, first published in 1978, sold nearly 2 million copies in its first 20 years, becoming a perennial best seller ~ll ov~r ~he world. Advertised only by word of mouth, the book became a favo~te tralmng and counseling guide in many institutions-government, church, buslnes.s-and colleges across the nation adopted it as an auxiliary text in a dozen dIfferent departments. Why? Perhaps it was the user-friendly way that Please Understand Me helped people find their personality style. Perhaps it was the simple accuracy of Keirsey's portraits of temperament and character types. Or perhaps it was the book's essential messag~: that members of families and institutions are OK, even though they are fundamentally different from each other, and that they would all do well to appreciate their differences and give up trying to change others into copies of themselves. Now: P"IS' IllIIrstalllll H For the past twenty years Professor Keirsey has continued to investigate personality differences-to refine his theory of the four temperaments and to define the facets of character that distinguish one from another. His findings form the basis of Please Understand Me II, an updated and greatly expanded edition of the book, far more comprehensive and coherent than the original, and yet with much of the same easy accessibility. One major addition is Keirsey's view of how the temperaments differ in the intelligent roles they...

The Story of My Life

...is in three parts. The first two, Miss Keller's story and the extracts from her letters, form a complete account of her life as far as she can give it. Much of her education she cannot explain herself, and since a knowledge of that is necessary to an understanding of what she has written, it was thought best to supplement her autobiography with the reports and letters of her teacher, Miss Anne Mansfield Sullivan. The addition of a further account of Miss Keller's personality and achievements may be unnecessary; yet it will help to make clear some of the traits of her character and the nature of the work which she and her teacher have done. For the third part of the book the Editor is responsible, though all that is valid in it he owes to authentic records and to the advice of Miss Sullivan. The Editor desires to...

...Chapter 1: The End and Beginning Prologue Facing the young girl and her little sister, the armored knight raised his sword. To have mercy was to take away a life in a single strike. Struck by the sunlight, the sword glistened high up in the air. The girl shut her eyes and bit down on her lower lip. Her expression showed that she never wished for this situation. She was simply accepting it since there was nothing she could do. If the girl had power of some sort, she would have used it on the man before her eyes and ran away. But— the girl had no such power. Thus there existed only one conclusion. The girl would surely perish here. The sword struck down — —Yet she did not feel any pain. The girl opened her tightly shut eyes. The first thing that the girl saw in her world was the sword that had stopped in its path downward. The next thing that entered her sight was its wielder. He had stopped in motion as though he were encased in ice. The knight’s attention was no longer on the girl. The completely defenseless state of the knight clearly revealed the shock that surged inside him. As though led by the knight’s gaze, the girl also turned her face toward the same direction. Then— she saw despair. There was darkness. Pure darkness as thin as paper, yet of an unfathomable depth. It had emerged from the ground in an ovoid shape with its lower section cut. A scene that evoked mystique with indescribable apprehension. A...

Accepted 27, October 2008 Survival is undoubtedly valuable but some time and in certain condition life becomes painful and impossible or unbearable, in that stage survilance seems, like a curse or abuse. Euthanasia – a new word for masses become common about four years back in the month of December 2004 because of Venkatesh plea for granting him right to die. Euthanasia is nothing else but a permit or license to the medical professional for ending the life of a person in question. No doubt if it will be permitted in laws, may be the biggest threat to the creature. In fact the concept is debatable; here the key question is “What should be the ingredients of law which would legalize Euthanasia?” Hence the purpose of writing this paper is to examine the questions pertaining to Euthanasia, especially in the light of traditional perspective besides legal dimensions of MTP and to suggest legal aspects of the same to make life with dignity even at the time of end. In addition the second key question may be that if it permitted weather it will be on the recommendation of the doctors or in the consent of the relative of the Patient?
