The Writings of the Sun Video and Photography are art forms that are mad of light. However Decasia makes this very ironic. Throughout the short film, there are clips shown that make it look like the time is flipping drastically from day to night due to the decaying nature of the film. This disorientates the common viewer because of the unnatural transition from day to night in a few seconds. However, for someone trained in video and photography, this disorientates them because in the process of film and photography, having certain footage and subjects turn out the way they did in a possible nighttime setting is impossible. Though it is obvious that it was all through error that certain clips were being night for day or day for night. Just imagining certain situations where it appears there’s harsh light outside and the street lamp’s light still has the ability to make a subject cast a shadow is pure disorienting,

Reproducibility
To me, Decasia was a long metaphor about how you can never truly reproduce memories. As time goes by, your memory about a certain subject decays. No matter how much memorabilia or documentation you have of that memory, it will decay without prevail. This is metaphorically shown in Decasia, as they will show the same video footage clips numerous times through the short film, however each time it’s shown again, there’s usually something off with the clip or the it’s slightly more deteriorated than before. This is a lot like human memory. They say that when you remember a situation in the past, you’re actually recalling the information the last time you remembered it.
