Nik has completed Phase I of the Kava project by identifying the problems that exist. Phase II consist of Nike applying a decision-making technique to identify the solutions. Nik Phase II report will also provide an analysis of the specific steps used in applying the selected decision-making technique. Because of the severity of the issues that exist in Kava, Nik realizes that many decision-making techniques and models will be used to address these major problems. Nik proposes to form three teams to address the issues in Kava. The first team will focus on handling and developing a workaround when natural disasters present itself in Kava. The second team will address the medical illnesses, and the third team has the responsibility of addressing and resolving the terrorism from within and outside of the country. Nik has also assembled a team that will be responsible for reaching out to the other helping organizations in the country. Joining forces with other organizations will help to reduce cost, manpower, and prevent replication of projects. Nik also has two financial advisors that will be responsible for managing the finances for the project and staying within budget. The first team role was to address the natural disasters in Kava and determine the impact it has on the economy’s production of petroleum, coffee, cocoa, spices, bananas, sugar, fishing, natural gas as well as inexpensive, quality labor. They first looked at the forces of influence. Applying the forces of influence to determine the contextual facts, urgency, and importance, the first team realized these types of disasters come from nature, and they knew it was difficult to assess when or how often these disasters may occur. The team agreed the best approach was to develop a natural disaster recovery plan. By doing some brainstorming the first team came up with a list of ideas to be covered in the plan. Once completed a meeting will be help to review the plan and Nik will play the role of devil’s advocate to ensure everything has been addressed. In determining a solution that will handle natural disasters that occur and destroys Kava ability to produce goods and services, the first team used the classical model of decision-making that allowed them to list the possible alternative courses of action and its consequences, rank each alternative from least preferred to most preferred, and finally select the alternative that leads to the desired future consequences. The second team has a huge responsibility that addresses medical illnesses using sound ethical practices. Because the second team had no medical background or expertise, they decided to use the benchmarking technique. They compared many hospitals and physicians, in Kava, the United States, and other countries. Because of the prevalence of HIV/AIDS and avian flu in Kava, they also compared these specific departments with other hospitals. They also compared cost and time. They used a criteria matrix chart to measure and track everything from supplies, beds, medicine, to the number, and types of illnesses that needed urgent attention. The third team role is to address and resolve terrorism within and outside of the Kava. They agreed to use the cause and effect diagram to determine the key causes for terrorism and the consequences it has on the people of Kava, Walmart, the United States, and other countries. Gathering this data, will help Walmart, along with the other helping organizations get to the core of the problem and put strict punishments in place that cause terrorist to think twice about committing terrorism in Kava. The financial advisors use the tree diagram to combine the probabilities, decisions, costs and payouts of a decision, and provide a strategic answer. During monthly meeting, the financial advisors present financial information from their financial reports by using pie chart to show when funds are disbursed to the different teams and the bar chart are used to compare progress between the different teams. Nik is satisfied with the teams he have selected and the decision-making tools and techniques they will use to assist in addressing the issues in Kava. By using these decision-making tools and techniques to resolve these issues while working together with other helping organizations, Kava will be an up and thriving economy once again.
