Kava is an important island country located in South Pacific. One disaster on top of another plagued the country. Kava needs help to get on the road of recovery. Alex, director of strategic planning, and I will represent The Hermitage at Cedarfield as we strive to help Kava recover, grow, and succeed. To do my part in this project in Kava, I will use my decision-making skills to assist Alex and me in making sound decisions to help the country get back on its feet. The first step I will take to find a solution for Kava’s problems is determining the issues that hinder Kava. Next, I will discuss what created the problems. Last, I will describe the environmental and organizational obstacles that will impact key stakeholders. When Alex and I put our heads together, Kava will be on its way to being the country it once was, paradise.
Issues that Appear in Kava and their Formulation Upon arriving in Kava, I did not expect to see what I did. The disaster within the country was devastating. The country was a complete mess. I realized that Kava was in dire need of help and knew that the Hermitage at Cedarfield would do a great deal of good for the country. After touring most of the country and discussing the condition of the country with Alex, the importance of making our company present in this part of the world is clearly visible. Kava not only faces economic struggles but also struggles from terrorist threats and attacks and natural disasters. The threat of natural disasters such as hurricanes, tornados, typhoons, tsunamis, floods, fires, and earthquakes remains a major concern of the people of Kava. Although the country is rich in resources such as spices, cocoa, bananas, coffee, sugar, and petroleum, a natural disaster will wipe the resources away. There is no control over a natural disaster. AIDS/HIV and avian flu are among other concerns of the people of Kava. The spread of AIDS/HIV is the result of lack education about the disease. Many cases of AID/HIV are due to lack of education ("Scouts", 2012). Alex and I discussed other issues that may block the success of The Hermitage at Cedarfield in Kava. Most notably is the unbalanced population because over 50% of the population is children under the age of 15. Several factors lead to the unbalanced population. The factors include family members and neighbors sexually abused the children, and that child pornography, child prostitution, child sex tourism and trafficking, and early marriage occurred ("Child Prostitution", 2010). The unbalanced population hinders the work force. If Kava is anything like the United States, children at that age are not permitted to work. However, the people of Kava are hard working and dedicated to all they do so we have something to look forward to. The other issues include diversity in religion, ethnicity, and language. The country’s residents are Indigenous (50%), Christians, Buddhists, and Islamic. Kava has an ethnic mix of indigenous tribes, African, French, Asian, Spanish, and Americans. Therefore, the languages include numerous indigenous, English, Spanish, and French. Alex and I determined that once we meet with faith-based groups, all levels of the governments, the military, businesses, and the community-based organizations, we will have the resources we need to bring The Hermitage at Cedarfield in existence in Kava. With Alex’s experience, my college education, the help of the government and the community, Kava will recover in no time. When we work together, we accomplish a lot. According to “Think Exist: (1999-2011), “Individually we are one drop. Together we are an ocean” (para. 1).
Recommendations and Plan of Action Alex and I met with the committee which consists of representatives from the all levels of the government, the military, community-based organizations, faith-based groups, and businesses to brainstorm and starburst. We believed that brainstorming and starbursting would allow many creative ideas to come forth. We were right. Although we have no control over the natural disaster, the committee decided that the best way to build the new facility was to use disaster proof material. Research provided the committee with information that the best material to use to build the new facility is concrete. Concrete is resistant to hurricanes, wind, fire, and floods. Concrete withstands natural disasters as well as normal deteriorating from nature ("Concrete Thinking", 2012). Concrete will not only be used to build Cedarfield but also for the buildings used for greenhouses to house the crops as they grow. This will be a boost for the economy in Kava. The benefits of an assisted living facility in Kava are more jobs and exceptional living arrangements and health care for the elderly. Because over half of the population is under the age of 15, Kava must take good care of its elders. The jobs that will become available include administrative positions, CNAs, LPNs, Security, Housekeeping, and Maintenance. To prepare those who are under the working age, we spoke with the school systems who will now offer classes to train young men and women who are interested in the medical field. The school system will also mandate sex education classes. This will help in preventing the spread of AIDS/HIV and preventing young girls and boys from having sex at such an early age. The classes will also teach the young girls to tell if they are sexually abused. One other area the school system will help is it will require all students to speak two languages before graduating from high school. That will help with the language barrier. The ethnic and religious barriers will be addressed if any should occur. We believe an individual has his or her right to religion.
Conclusion
Alex and I have future meetings with the committee. When we all come together, we will be able to accomplish the task at hand. All stakeholders will benefit from the facility because the facility and the new ideas we have for Kava will boost the economy immensely. Kava will be the country the people once knew it when Alex, the committee, and I finish planning and implementing our plans.
