Dee Fense is a 51-year-old Caucasian female who was referred by Dr. Matthew Stenson, from Jordan Valley Medical Center. She stated that she was referred for an “evaluation” for depression. An assessment was conducted to determine diagnosis and assist in treatment course.
Family Background
Ms. Fense grew up in Pennsylvania and lived with both parents, Chester and Betty. Her parents were married for 60 years and Ms. Fense is the youngest of 9 children with age ranges from 62-51. Being the baby of the family, she maintained a very close relationship to her mother until she passed away three years ago. She also lost a brother around the same time. Both were very traumatic for Ms. Fense. She stated that she has a good relationship with her dad and siblings and spoke about having a lot of nieces and nephews. Fense graduated from PIT University with a triple major in English, Art History, and Psychology. She said she had good grades and was involved in a lot of activities; such as, the arts, theatre, drama, swim team, diving, etc.
In the past, Ms. Fense owned her own Bakery. She worked many hours and said she was good at it. She currently works from home doing editing and makes jewelry for a ministry she is involved in. Ms. Fense is currently on SSA benefits for her depression and feels like she can’t work outside the home. She can’t work “somewhere with a schedule” and wish she could be “out in the world like a normal citizen”.
Other Pertinent Information
Dee Fense was sexually abused by a chiropractor when she was an early teen. The abuse happened on three separate occasions by the same chiropractor. Ms. Fense did not mention the abuse but did refuse to return to that chiropractor. Her parents never asked why and she never told. Ms. Fense described having an out-of-body experience during this abuse. She has had other detached experiences though out her
