...Table of Computer Comparison Choosing a Computer based on 3 different professions When a shopper is looking for a computer they just don’t look at the price they look to see if it fits all the needs that it will be used for. They also look to see if the computer if going to be at a fixed location or it has to be portable. So, after looking over the table of computer comparison, I was able to determine what profession the computer would be the best fit for all there need. A Teacher would need a computer like the DELL Inspiron with its 4GB of RAM, 500 GB Hard Drive, and a processor speed of 3.0GHz. The computer would be used for the internet and creating documents such as word, excel, and power point. They wouldn’t need a massive hard drive on their computer due to the fact that they would store a lot of their course info on it. It would be too easy for a student to break a password and steal an answer sheet for a test. A Graphic Designer would be using the iMac. With its 8GB of Ram, 1 TB Hard drive, and a processor speed of 3.4GHz. They would need to have a computer that has a large hard drive to store all the designs. With the use of Dreamweaver and Photoshop they will need all the storage that they can get. IMac’s are also known for making extreme designs with outstanding colors. That is why the iMac’s are the working horses of the design field. A medical professional [doctor or nurse] would make great use of the Sony VAIO. The VIAO has 8GB of RAM, 1TB Hard Drive...

...analyze the possible alternatives of Dell Computer Corporation in funding its future growth and expansion from the point of view of its top management. Given the company’s financial statements, projected growth in sales, and its working capital financial ratios, this paper forecasted Dell’s balance sheet and income statement for 1997 to trace the external fund needed, if any, and which type of funding is most optimal to fund its future operations and growth. The forecast used a set of assumptions based on the company’s historical data and company policies. After experiencing its first loss late 1993, the company dedicated itself to bringing back its efficient operations to keep up with the fast growing computer industry, minimizing middlemen retailers and shifting the company’s focus to the growth of their liquidity, profitability, and overall growth. The company eventually recovered through its new and improved internal systems of inventory control and vendor certification, ensuring that its products are always of the highest quality. Ensuring its foothold in the market, Dell was the pioneer in manufacturing Pentium-based products and transforming its major product line to Pentium technology. In 1995, Dell was able to ship its new system that was equipped with Microsoft’s Windows 95 on the same day that Microsoft released their operations system. Now, Dell is again atop the industry outpacing revenue growth and increasing its net income. Dell in the recent years has always financed...

...Read the following case study and then answer Questions 1 - 5 which follow: DELL COMPUTER Michael Dell founded Dell in 1984 while he was still a college student at the University of Texas in Austin. From the beginning, Dell sold directly to_th_e final customer and built PCs to users' specifications. This basic business model has not changed over the years, although it has been modified and refined as the company has grown. Dell started with telephone sales of upgraded IBM compatible PCs, and then shifted to assembling and marketing its own brand of PCs in 1985. It provided customers with a 24-hour hotline for complaints and guaranteed 24- to 48-hour shipment of replacement parts. As its customer base grew, Dell also implemented a direct toll-free technical support line. In 1990, Dell shifted course when it began selling through retail outlets such as CompUSA, Circuit City, and Price Club. Revenues grew rapidly, but problems arose in managing what had become a billion-dollar company, and Dell experienced its first quarterly loss in 1993 (Dell, 1999). In 1994, Dell concluded that even though it was successful selling through retail channels, it was not making money doing so. Dell decided to withdraw from the retail market and return to its roots as a direct seller, a move that not only helped the company's profitability but also enabled it to put all of its efforts into executing the direct model. Dell also brought in a new chief operating officer, Mort Topfer from Motorola. Topfer...

...sentences but also say volumes about the products they represent at the same time. These days advertisements are quick and to the point to keep up with our fast moving and low attention-spanned society. In usually around ten to thirty words an advertiser will try to catch it’s readers attention and get their point across while at the same time reaching the intended demographic their product is intended for. These two products, and MacBook and a Dell Inspiron Mini 9, are similar in that they are both laptops, but vastly different in the way they are portrayed. The purpose of both these ads are at opposite ends of the spectrum. Mac has a reputation for making the best computers around. Many people know that Macs are significantly more pricy then their Dell counterpoints, therefor they don’t list the price of the product. They just tell you why it’s better computer. “Strong, beautiful materials, comes with the latest technology, powerful processors, advanced graphics, fast memory,” and so on. On the other hand, the purpose of the Dell ad is to show customers that their computers are greatly cheaper, but they are still fast, work well, and have comparable components. The purpose of their ad is to show you the outstandingly low price and a list of the specifications to let you know even though it’s cheap, it’s still good. Flowers 2 Audience and demographics are huge parts of creating an ad. Who the advertiser is trying to reach will have a large effect of what items and pictures...

...it for school work and, secondary, entertainment. My goal is to find a laptop that is properly suited for online research, typing (writing software), playing games, and streaming/downloading movies, videos, and music. Therefore, I will need a laptop that has lots of space/memory, can multi-task without lagging, a good video/audio card and speakers, and a fast processor with good amount of RAM. I will therefore be comparing the 3 laptops mainly in those areas. I will also need a printer to print the research papers I type up and other school work such as articles for researching. I found 3 laptops that I will compare in order to determine which of the 3 best suits my needs. All 3 are sold by BestBuy. The first laptop is a Dell Inspiron, which costs $549.99. It has an Intel Dual Core processor with a speed of 3 GHz. It has a 6 GB RAM memory and 4 MB of cache memory. Therefore, these specs show that this laptop is good enough to run multiple (but not too many) programs simultaneously without lagging and perform fast. Furthermore, it has a hard drive disk space of 1 TB, which is sufficient to run the Windows 10 operating system, the software I am interested in (which will be discussed later in the “Software” section), and any word, spreadsheet, or presentation documents I will need to save to the hard drive. Additionally, it will suffice for any videos, movies, or music I will download. It also has an HD graphics card with a MaxxAudio sound card and speakers which...

[edit] Origins and evolution | |This article or section may contain an inappropriate mixture of prose and timeline. | | |Please help convert this timeline into prose or, if necessary, a list. | While a student at the University of Texas at Austin in 1984, Michael Dell founded the company as PC's Limited with capital of $1000[4]. Operating from Michael Dell's off-campus dorm room at Dobie Center [1], the startup aimed to sell IBM PC-compatible computers built from stock components. Michael Dell started trading in the belief that by selling personal computer-systems directly to customers, PC's Limited could better understand customers' needs and provide the most effective computing solutions to meet those needs. Michael Dell dropped out of school in order to focus full-time on his fledgling business, after getting about $300,000 in expansion-capital from his family. In 1985, the company produced the first computer of its own design — the "Turbo PC" — which contained an Intel 8088-compatible processor running at a speed of 8 MHz. PC's Limited advertised the systems in national computer-magazines for sale directly to consumers, and custom-assembled each ordered unit according to a selection of options. This offered buyers prices lower than those of retail brands, but with greater convenience than assembling the components...

Cause for one you need a high processor speed to be able to run games so they don’t lag. You also need a lot of memory on your hard drive to be able to download games because they take a lot of memory. An on top of that whenever updates come out it can possibly make the size of the game bigger depending on how major the update is. Also you need a descent amount of RAM cause not only does it help save memory but it helps with how fast your game will download. Lastly it’s a lot cheaper than some of the bigger brands of the gamer desktops especially with the 1024 Giga Byte hard drive. Cause there are more expensive gamer desktops with less memory on its hard drive than this one. Business owners would prefer the HP 15- g070nr 15.6- inch Laptop. Especially if they go on business trips for meetings because you have more than enough memory on your hard drive to be able to do all the presentations or databases etc. On top...

...Identifying the Operating System * NT1110 Module 1 My home computer is a new Dell Inspiron 15 3000 series. It has the Windows 7 edition with a Service Pack 1. The Windows 7 edition brings a more responsive and lively feel, and the start menu is just right. With this edition, Microsoft has also recognized the need for improved desktop responsiveness, which gives the impression that the computer is responding to the user and that they are in control. Compatibility on Windows 7 is definently far better than that of Vista. And many programs that were used on Windows XP did not work immediately and required updates, but with Windows 7 almost all applications that work on Vista should still run. In this regard, Windows Vista has definently paved the way for Windows 7. Lower hardware requirements is also a plus for Windows 7 because due to the reputation that Vista gained, making the more sophisticated hardware seem rather ordinary, will run well on lower end hardware, making the transition from Windows XP less painful. Windows 7 also has an improved search tool, which now rivals Mac OS X’s spotlight to be able to find what you need quickly and easily. For example, typing a word in the start menu will display it and split it up neatly into files, folders and applications, or typing “keyboard” will bring up the keyboard options within the control panel. Taskbar options are a lot more powerful since Vista. The taskbar icons are now larger and items are grouped together...
