Skin-related illnesses are very common in today’s society. Increased pollution levels in the air and the constantly changing weather make the skin more vulnerable to outside irritants. Fine dust and other particulates in the air can also harm the skin, making it more susceptible to diseases. One of these diseases is folliculitis. Sometimes, Demodex folliculorum can be a cause of having folliculitis. An infestation of these mites can irritate the hair follicles and make them inflamed. Generally, they are not harmful to the body but large numbers can be very uncomfortable. These mites can be removed by cleansing the face at least twice a day with a mild soap or cleanser. Exfoliating can also help remove the dead skin cells that these mites feed on. Changing pillows, bed sheets, and brushes used for makeup remove the contamination and lessen the number of these mites on the face.
Folliculitis Prevention
In preventing folliculitis, proper hygiene is the most important so that there wouldn’t be any infestation by mites or prevention of infecting the hair follicles can be done. Washing the face with soap and water twice daily is very helpful in removing dirt and other contaminants on the face. Tight clothing should also be avoided to reduce the friction in the body. Make sure that the area for washing and bathing is clean and free of dirt and other
