Communication is the method of sending and receiving messages. Demonstrative communication includes nonverbal and unwritten communication and contains such things as facial expressions, body language, tone of voice, and so forth. Oral and written communication is associated with verbal communication whereas nonverbal communication includes eye contact, tone of voice, body posture, gestures, and facial expressions. This document will discuss how demonstrative communication can be described as both effective and ineffective. In addition this paper will show in what way demonstrative communication can be perceived as positive and negative for the sender, as well as positive and negative for the receiver. Also, this document will also display how demonstrative communication includes listening and responding. Parents introduce their offspring to speak so communicating his or her needs is not challenging. As the children mature into their teenage years, the nonverbal cue he or she learns is through trial and error. As those teenagers develop into adulthood acquiring to master the ability of verbal and nonverbal cues is a routine. Today individuals communicate with far more than words. Demonstrative Communication can have both positive and negative effects in terms of feedback from the message being delivered. When thinking about speaking sometimes it brings fear. It is important to remember that public speaking is a part of everyday life. You may not have a large audience, but you do have an audience and you must convey what you are trying to get across to them. Public speaking is another form of conversation. There is as rich history in public speaking. As early as ancient Greece speeches were required as part of the education. Plato said that Rhetoric is the art of winning the soul by discourse. Aristotle identified the basic elements of good speech and persuasion as ethos, logos, and pathos. The ethos (credibility, believability) of the speaker was important; the logos (logic) behind any conclusions drawn by the speaker during the course of the speech needed to be valid and clear; and the pathos (emotional appeals) were important in making human connections between the speaker and the listener.
