Demonstrative Communication
Communication is the act of conveying information for the purpose of creating a shared understanding. It’s something that humans do every day. The word “communication” comes from the Latin “communis,” meaning “to share,” and includes verbal, non-verbal and electronic means of human interaction (Communication Studies, 2014). No matter where you are from, your cultural background, your age, or experience, effective communication is a skill you can learn. Most great leaders are well-versed in the art of effective communication. Communication is initiated by the sender, who formats (encodes) the message clearly and correctly, by using proper grammar, punctuation, now sequencing, and syntax. This is a vital step for the sender because if the sender speaks too fast or too slow, has garbled speech, or uses incorrect verbiage, the receiver can have a hard time understanding (decoding) the message. Communication can be broken down into four types of communication: verbal (oral communication), non-verbal communication (body language, facial expressions), written communication, and visualization communication. Verbal communication encompasses using spoken words by means of face-to-face communication or other electronic communication devices such as cell phone, online video chatting, telephone, radio, and television. Effective verbal communication helps us better understand the person or situation. Effective communication enables us to resolve differences, build trust and respect, create environments where original ideas, affection, caring, and problem solving can flourish. The simplest communication seems, much of what we try to convey to others and what others try to convey does this misunderstood, because conflict of frustration and personal professional relationships.
