My first exposure to the dental field was when a neighbor developed oral cancer and subsequently died. The cancer had progressed from a small treatable lesion to a metastasized nightmare, the result of not appreciating the seriousness of his condition and his poor access to care. Witnessing this neighbor suffering needlessly motivated me to seek out a career in dentistry: it made me realize the connection between oral health and general health. In addition to this experience, I was fortunate to have parents that routinely brought me to the dentist. My dentist was a charismatic doctor that indulged my burgeoning interest in this field. Through his compassionate care for his patients and the professionalism he portrayed, I was motivated to pursue this fascinating and challenging profession.
Knowing that this was what I wanted to do, I enrolled in dental school in India. The program was focused on treating patients from underprivileged areas, where care was otherwise impossible to obtain. My first exposure to treating these populations was during dental school. With their needs being so great, it allowed me to expose myself to a variety of dental procedures I would not have otherwise experienced. I performed single visit root canal treatment with both hand files and rotary, direct and indirect veneering techniques, as well as …show more content…
At heart I am a dentist to the core - it’s who I am. I cannot imagine myself in any other profession. Through my experiences here, I am determined to continue my career as a dentist. While I respect the very hands-on approach that my Indian dental school provided, I am very much aware of the limitations of technology available and differing standards of patient care compared to that of the U.S. I came here because I knew that there was no better place to learn dentistry. Modern dental education was created here and it leads the world in the advancement of technologies and

Why Is It Important To Request An Ethical Dilemmas In Dentistry?

...the teeth, or orthodontic reasons.2 Generally, the dental practitioner will make the diagnosis, and the patient will decide whether or not to provide consent based on the information provided. There's No Hope of Doing Perfect Research

...There is no hope of doing perfect research (griffiths,1998, p97). Do you agree? Introduction The statement that "There is no hope of doing perfect research," (Griffiths, 1998, p97) was made by Morwenna Griffiths, a professor and writer, in her book Educational Research for Social Justice: Getting off the Fence. What the statement basically meant was that we cannot ever expect our research to be of a level where we can say it's at its ultimate best. There are several reasons for this and seeing not only the logic in the statement, but also having personally experienced it, I too have to agree. What is research and why can’t it be perfect? Research is basically a collection of information which we choose to develop, store or manipulate. There are two sorts of research, qualitative and quantitative. The former deals more with theoretical findings while the latter can be viewed as collection of information, mostly statistical. Keeping these two sorts of research and that basic definition in mind the basis for that statement is made quite clear and self-explanatory. The endless limits of research For one thing, research can never be complete or absolute. If we consider the world of information to be an ocean, we can consider our research to be the water in a bucket. As long as I'm on one end of the ocean, I will never know what the other end might hold. I might miss out on something that contradicts or better explains what I'm currently considering as my best example...

Hall (2011) analysis outcome in the medical perspective, and defines it as a target or endpoint that enables the judgment if an operation, a drug or some form of therapy was successful. Hunter, Corcoran, Leeder and Phelps (2012) also give a definition for Outcomes in medicine, but these authors considered outcomes in the patients’ perspective, and it includes physical, mental, social and spiritual health, quality of life, life satisfaction, lifestyle, and the process of the health intervention. Other author (McAuliffe, 1998) also describes the definition of outcomes as the patient’s perceptions, and as results of the care received, considering symptom severity, functional capacity and quality of life. Cinderella And Princess Culture Summary

...James Poniewozik writes the article, “The Princess Paradox”, in which he tells about his own personal experience with his daughter and princesses. Poniewozik writes that he tried raising his daughter to like legos and soccer balls, not barbies, and to play firefighter and watch Dora the Explorer videos (Poniewozik 323). He then states that even through all that work, his daughter wanted to be a princess when Halloween came around. After hearing this, Poniewozik does not go on to bash the idea that his daughter likes princesses. Instead, he writes positive things about princesses, praising the way that over the years, they have learned the lessons of feminism, self- determination, and independence (Poniewozik 324). Unlike Orenstein, who does not want to be open to the fact that her daughter might actually like princesses, Poniewozik accepts...

Marketing

...Opinion Leader – Individual whose ideas and behavior serve as a model to others. Opinion leaders communicate messages to a primary group, influencing the attitudes and behavior change of their followers. Therefore, in certain marketing instances, it may be advantageous to direct the communications to the opinion leader alone to speed the acceptance of an advertising message. For example, advertisers may direct a dental floss promotion to influential dentists or a fashion campaign to female celebrities. In both instances, the advertiser is using the opinion leader to carry and "trickle down" its message to influence its target group. Because of the important role opinion leaders play in influencing markets, advertisers have traditionally used them to give testimonials.
