...Kara Gershman Experimental paper 2 (chapter 10) Due: 3/19/03 *Write about an experience that involves decision making and use 2 concepts from the chapter (10) and write about what you have experienced from each concept. My experience with making decisions comes within my everyday life. Whether I am making decisions at the workplace or just on what I want to eat, it is all a decision and are brains need to process these decisions we make. I think it is very important to use your brain and think before a decision is made. Most people just speak or act without thinking of the consequences, and this is when making decisions can be hard. Even living at college, balancing 2 nanny jobs, and school allows me to make decisions whether I like them or not. An experience that I have used decision making in is when I nanny and how I got my nanny jobs. There were many decisions I had to make. I had to make sure the family was flexible with time (seeing I’m in school), was the right fit for me, and I was the right fit for them. Pay was also a hard decision I had to make. I have been a nanny for the 3 years I have been at school here at SNHU and I enjoy it thoroughly but I am constantly making decisions when it comes to babysitting. The Rational Model proposes that managers use a rational, four-step sequence when making decisions. You need to “1. I identify the problem, 2. Generate alternative solutions, 3. Select a solution, and 4. Implement and evaluate the solution you chose.”...

...Politicide is the gradual but systematic attempts to annihilate or exile an independent political and or social entity by radical governments or non-governmental forces, targeted groups are given no other option but to flee from prosecution. An example of Politicide would be the 1950s Red Scare which denoted a period of strong anti communism movement in the United States. In March 1947, President Truman signed an executive order, creating the “Federal Employees Loyalty Program” establishing political-loyalty review boards who determined the “Americanism” of Federal Government employees, and recommended termination of those who had confessed to spying for the Soviet Union, as well as some suspected of being Un-American. The American government was afraid that communism would take over as it did in the east, so in retaliation they set out and ran huge propaganda campaigns stating the dangers of communism. Some cultures are defined in cultural or religious terms and the presence of individuals of other religions may be seen as a threat to their national identity and governmental cohesion, consequently, these individuals become a targeted group by either social repression or removed completely from a society through violence or terror inspiring means. Ethnic cleansing is the term to describe this atrocity. An example of this would be the Bosnian war of the early 1990’s as a result of the breakup of Yugoslavia. Following the Slovenian and Croatian secessions from Yugoslavia in 1991...

...Abstract In an effort to examine what goes into making a successful business, we will discuss ownership, and funding of a business. We will look at the pros and cons of partnership as a form of ownership. We will look at accounting practices, and marketing of the business to the consumer. We will look at how technology has changed the business and marketing environment and a company’s social and environmental responsibility. Starting, Financing, and Marketing a Business A business is any activity that provides goods and services in an effort to earn a profit (Mcgowan, Kelly and; 2012) There are many aspects to a successful business, an idea for a product or service that is needed or wanted by the consumer. After the idea, comes finding a way to fund the business, develop the idea, and a good marketing and distribution plan. Good accounting practices are a must to keep track of how the business is doing. There are four major forms of business ownership. * If just one person owns the business, it is a sole proprietorship. In this form of business the owner has all the say in how the business is run, and keeps all the profit. The owner is also responsible for all debts the business incurs. * A partnership is an agreement between two or more people that act as co-owners there are several types of partnership, but in a basic partnership, owners share profits, and liabilities * A Cooperation is a business that is created to be separate from its owners. ...Abstract Accountable Care Organization is a healthcare organization characterized by a payment and care delivery mode. lt seeks to tie provider reimbursements to a quality metrics and reductions in the total cost of care for an assigned population of patients. A group of coordinated health care providers form an ACO, which then provides care to a group of patients. The ACO may use a range of payment methods, (e.g. capitation, fee-or-service with an asymmetric or symmetric shared savings). The ACO is accountable to the patients and the 3rd party payer for quality, appropriateness, and efficiency of the health care provided. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), an ACO is considered an organization of health care providers that agree to be accountable for the quality, cost, and overall care of Medicare beneficiaries who are enrolled in the traditional fee-for-service program. This paper identifies the differences between HMO’s and ACO’s but also correlates the similarities between ACO’s and Patient Center Medical Home (PCMH). The ACO’s place a degree of financial responsibility on the providers in hopes of improving care management and limiting unnecessary expenditures while continuing to provide patients freedom to select their medical services. The success and challenges of ACO are identified and explored. By increasing care coordination, ACO’s can help reduce unnecessary medical care and improve health outcomes, leading to a decrease in utilization...
