Unique is what I am. I don’t let anyone define me, due to I am a strong character. A strong character that respects other people, has self respect, courage, and responsibility. For me, my respect for others is to treat them how I would wish to be treated: politely. It also plays an important role on my self-respect. Self-respect that I have learned over the years, is not bragging, but to feel joy in hard won accomplishments such as a starting position as a sophomore and being a scholar athlete.
Becoming a starter as a sophomore on a varsity sport is practically everyone’s dream; however, it didn’t come easily. It was a lot of hard work and I began as an eighth grader to work towards a starting position. Though the winter months I played basketball and indoor soccer, to stay in shape. I also hit the weight room once, if not twice everyday during the week. I pushed myself to lift more and do more everyday, so much I always had it where you could see …show more content…
Also, in the summer before conditioning started for soccer; I ran. I would run miles every night. The music playing in my ears, the pounding of the beat and my steps hitting the pavement at the same time push me on to go farther and farther. The sweat pooling up on the mist of my back causing my shirt to stick to me; I also didn’t care about the pool of sweat gathering in my sports bra because to me it shows how hard I’m working to accomplish my goal. That way when soccer season finally arrived my freshman year, I was in shape, ready to kick butt. I didn’t get a starting position my freshman year like I originally planned; therefore it made me work harder. I worked on my touches, passes, shots, and conditioning all year round again including hitting the weight room. Though when summer came around again, I decided to try a different approach. I decide to do more than just

How to Develop a Research Strategy

...Develop A Research Strategy Gen/200 Date Instructor How To Develop A Research Strategy In this paper I have identified a problem I face in my day-to-day life, which is time management. I will discuss how to develop a research strategy to find a solution to my time management problem and include what information should be gathered, where the information can be obtained, how I evaluate the information that I gather, and explain how I will use the information to resolve the problem. Briefly Describe Problem One big problem I notice in my day-to-day life is the feeling like there isn’t enough time in the day to accomplish all the things I want to finish. At least not without some short cuts, or not giving a task the full attention it requires. On top of my already busy schedule, I decided to go back to school. This means managing my time properly is going to have to be priority number one. A lot of times, for me, time management means to just do less during a day or whatever the span of time is. Sometimes just doing less isn’t an option, for those times, it is going to be good to know other strategies to help me make more effective use of my time. Identify What Type of Information To Gather In order to find ways for me to improve my time management skills I need to gather information such as research and studies that have been done to help university students. For even more specific information I can search for articles, peer-reviewed papers, and primary...

Behavorial Interview

...Behavioral Interview Techniques – The STAR Approach Situation or Task Describe the situation that you were in or the task that you needed to accomplish. You must describe a specific event or situation, not a generalized description of what you have done in the past. Be sure to give enough detail for the interviewer to understand. This situation can be from a previous job, from a volunteer experience, or any relevant event. Action you took Describe the action you took and be sure to keep the focus on you. Even if you are discussing a group project or effort, describe what you did -- not the efforts of the team. Don't tell what you might do, tell what you did. Results you achieved What happened? How did the event end? What did you accomplish? What did you learn? Use examples from internships, classes and school projects, activities, team participation, community service, hobbies and work experience -- anything really -- as examples of your past behavior. In addition, you may use examples of special accomplishments, whether personal or professional, such as scoring the winning touchdown, being elected president of your Greek organization, winning a prize for your artwork, surfing a big wave, or raising money for charity. Wherever possible, quantify your results. Numbers always impress employers. Remember that many behavioral questions try to get at how you responded to negative situations; you'll need to have examples of negative experiences ready, but try to...

Journal Week 1

...• Describe the steps of your current personal writing process. For example, how do you approach a writing assignment for a class? The steps of my personal writing process are a bit disorganized, but they have worked for me thus far. I’ve never practiced the prewriting techniques that I read about this week, and that is probably why it takes me so long to write my paper and polish it. I usually ensure that I have clear and precise understanding of the topic. If the topic is my choice, I try to find one that I’m very passionate about to ensure that I encounter fewer issues. I open a document page and start writing. I write as much as I can without researching, during this step I usually have a variety of random sentences and paragraphs. I start my conducting my research, and then I’ll go back to my paper periodically. I do however; make sure that I cite my sources as I go along to avoid any type of plagiarism. After I feel that I’ve done enough research, I usually start putting paragraphs together and trying to make my paper flow. Following the completion of my rough draft, I usually print my paper out so I can read it to myself. I found this works better for me when it comes to finding errors in my work. I correct my errors and reprint the document and reread it .I will step away for a couple of hours and come back and reread my paper once again. I’ve noticed that by taking a break and coming back to my paper with a clear mind, that I’m better able to concentrate on my final...
