Corría 1974 cuando la diseñadora Diane von Furstenberg, creó un diseño perfecto para las mujeres trabajadoras que tenían que ir siempre impecables, pero cómodas. El “wrap dress” o vestido envolvente consiste en una pieza de tela con dos listones del mismo material a los lados que ciñéndose a la figura envuelve el cuerpo formando un vestido con abertura por un lado y escote en “V”, quedando atado por la cintura con los listones de tela.
Para 1976, Diane Von Furstenberg ya había vendido más de 5 millones de vestidos envolventes. Este año la diseñadora celebra el 40 aniversario de la creación de su diseño más famoso y lo hace con una retrospectiva artística en Los Ángeles.

Un antiguo almacén en Wilshire Boulevard sometido a una transformación asombrosa por Renzo Piano se perfilaba como el espacio perfecto. Situado a las afueras del campus del Museo del Condado de Los Angeles de Arte , el sitio desdibuja literalmente las fronteras entre arte y moda. Conceptualmente hablando, que era casi demasiado bueno para ser verdad , altísimos techos que proporcionan un entorno visualmente emocionante.
La inauguración reunió un montón celebs por quisieron apoyar a la diseñadora. Desde Paris Hilton a Robin Wright, pasando por Gwyneth Paltrow, Demi Moore, Anna Wintour, Rooney Mara, Ashley Olsen o Bella Thorne

Según la propia Diane comentaba en una entrevista al diario británico The Independent:
Es más que un vestido… es un espíritu. El “wrap dress” es un fenómeno cultural interesante, y uno que ha durado más de 30 años. Lo que es tan especial es que realmente es una forma de vestir muy tradicional. Es como una toga, es como un kimono, sin botones, sin cremallera. Lo que hizo mi “wrap dress” diferente es que está hecho de jersey y que realza la figura

Von Furstenberg optó por presentar una colección de moda conmemorativa y organizar una exposición de obras de arte relacionadas con DVF . La colección de aniversario perfecto , decidió, sería fusionar su propio patrimonio de la moda con la iconografía de Andy Warhol , que había sido un buen amigo de la diseñadora.

El concepto era combinar un par de famosos emblemas (la flor de la artista y de dólar que muy bien podrían resumir el concepto de la s creaciones von Furstenberg) con algunos de sus modelos más conocidos. Usó las impresiones híbridas y logotipos de Warhol para las camisetas y vestidos .
Preguntada por la prensa, DVF confesaba:
Simplemente, me parecía muy pop, más que nunca. El genio de Warhol es predijo todo. Imaginar lo que Warhol hubiera hecho con Instagram es alucinante.

La retrospectiva podrá ser visitada hasta el mes de marzo. Muy buena idea la manera de celebrar el 40 aniversario del famoso wrap dress de Diane von Furstenberg.
