As the company expanded its manning activities, it established in 1991 the IOTC Training Center and Dormitory in Bicutan, Paranaque, Metro Manila. In this facility, the company provides in-house training to hone technical skills and to strengthen the behavioral conduct and values of its crew. With the growing confidence on the capability of IOTC and EMC to provide them with quality seafarers, Showa Line, thru its subsidiary, Showa Line Engineering Co. Ltd., entrusted EMC to supply Filipino seafarers for its new VLCC, the MT "SATSUMA". Soon, different types of vessels like, car carriers, woodchip-carriers, were added to the existing fleet of Cape Size bulkers, VLCC, LPG carriers and Heavy Lifters. Increasing demand for Filipino officers worldwide coupled with the shortage of qualified officers locally, led to the adaptation of IOTC & EMC of a family oriented approach on its recruitment to maximize retention of its officers and crew.
