...The advertisement that I chose is a commercial from Esurance. The advertisement is using a well-known TV show to persuade the user into picking an insurance company. I chose this commercial because of the TV show “Breaking Bad” it was a show that I liked watching when it was on the air. The biggest image of the advertisement would be the main character from the TV show Walter White. The show Breaking Bad was a TV show about a guy work with Pharmaceuticals and in the commercial its stating that insurance company try to tell you what you need and that one type of medicine is just as good as the next to make sure you pay for what’s right for you and not sort of like you. In the commercial they have a guy that is not the person that is usually working in the pharmacy “Greg”. The guy goes on to say that he is sort of like Greg being that they both used to own the same car, they both work in pharmaceuticals and that they’re both over the age of 50. So it’s to say that go to a place where they will make a plan for you and not just for someone like you. I didn’t think the commercial was very good. The commercial was thirty seconds long and not until the last eight seconds is when you were able to figure out the meaning of the commercial. There is a voice that states the purpose of the guy sort of being like Greg. I would have used a more compelling statement than “Say I am sort of like Greg”. Maybe state that being sort of like Greg is good enough or that it doesn’t...

Extra’s from Christmas and need a little spice to warm you up in the cold winter? Well this might be just the way to warm you up and make good use of some of that extra ham. It works great for sandwiches, topped on crackers, or just eat it straight up with a spoon too. While this is served chunky style, you can run it through a food processor if you want it to be more smooth and spread able. The combination of spice and savory and cool elements work great on the palette year round. --- Setup: 1 ½ lbs of cooked ham, chilled and diced small ½ cup diced white or red onion 2 Jalapenos, diced (Remove the membranes for less heat.) ½ cup diced celery 1 cup cheddar cheese ½ cup dried cranberries ½ tsp Fresh ground black pepper 2 Tbsp Dijon Mustard ½ cup Mayonnaise The particular ham I used here I baked and had a nice sweet glaze put on it, which added a light sweet flavor to the dish, along with the dried cranberries. If you want to add a little more heat, sneak in a ½ tsp red pepper flakes, they’ll really shine after the chill time. ---- Cooking: Not much cooking here! Simply combine...

...Spring 2003 TV Violence Since the advent of television, the effect of TV violence on society has been widely studied and vigorously debated. Based on the cumulative evidence of studies conducted over several decades, the scientific and public health communities overwhelmingly conclude that viewing violence poses a harmful risk to children. Critics of the research challenge this conclusion and dispute claims that exposure to TV violence leads to real-life aggression. As we move into the digital era with enhanced images and sound, media violence will undoubtedly continue to be a focus of public concern and scientific research. Prevalence of Violence on TV The National Television Violence Study is the largest content analysis undertaken to date. It analyzed programming over three consecutive TV seasons from 1994 to 1997.1 Among the findings: • Nearly 2 out of 3 TV programs contained some violence,2 averaging about 6 violent acts per hour.3 • Fewer than 5% of these programs featured an anti-violence theme or prosocial message emphasizing alternatives to or consequences of violence.4 • Violence was found to be more prevalent in children’s programming (69%) than in other types of programming (57%). In a typical hour of programming, children’s shows featured more than twice as many violent incidents (14) than other types of programming (6).5 • The average child who watches 2 hours of cartoons a day may see nearly 10,000 violent incidents each year, of which the researchers estimate...
