At ako yon .

Difference Between Journals and Diaries: -

...Difference between journals and diaries:- The difference between a diary and a journal is that a diary is where you can write down what happened during the day and keep a record of stuff. A journal is to write your own personal feelings in, and things that happened, and how they happened. A diary is a report of what happened during the day—where you ate, who you met, the details that what was happened in the office, and who took whose side. It is a like a newspaper about you. A journal is completely different. A journal is about examining your life. It’s a GPS system for your spirit. Journals lead to insight, growth, and sometimes, achieving a goal. You can keep a journal in anything that feels comfortable and that’s portable–a spiral notebook, a bind book you have put together with lokta paper, index cards held together with a rubber band. You can use a computer; keep a blog, although that doesn’t work as well for me. But things on the internet are simply not private, password protected or not. To keep a journal on paper, pick a time of day to write. Keep it regularly. It makes it easier. Try that you didn’t stuck to an exercise program because then it can nailed it into schedule at a certain time. Writing works the same way. First thing in the morning, last thing at night, while eating lunch at your desk. Write with a good pen that feels good and whose color you like. In the beginning, you may have to set a time limit. Three minutes is good. Just write whatever comes...

Santaland Diaries

..."The Santaland Diaries” by David Sedaris is about the time when he was in his 30's and out of work, had to suffer the indignities of taking a job as an elf at the Macy's Santaland in New York City. The tale was first performed as a monologue by Sedaris on National Public Radio in 1992. This production was presented at the Alley Theatre. The theatre was big and it was a square, the audience surrounded the stage from all of the four sides. Majority of the audience were in their 30's to 60's, with mixed diversity. Unlike the other plays I have seen, this play has only one cast member named Todd Waite (Crumpet). He does an amazing job performing the whole play. It felt like he was directly speaking to me. Crumpet’s costume was modern and casual at first, and then he changed into a velvet bright green elf costume for the rest of the play. The set is a square, anchored at one corner by a giant red Christmas ornament, at another corner by a giant Santa, and at another by a chair into which an exhausted Crumpet crumples at times. There’s a side table which has water, milk and cookies. The lighting didn’t have any special effects. The lights would go off when they had to do a scenery change and also when a recorded voice turns on. There were sound effects and it was Christmas music. It played in the beginning of the play and a little bit towards the end as well. Also, there was a recorded voice of a lady throughout the play. For example, when it was Crumpets break time the voice would...

In many Native American cultures they used to practice a ritual "walk-about" sending off their young men into the wild to survive and live on their own for a couple of months. The idea being that when they came back they would be changed by that experience and have discovered some truths about themselves, and making them more mature. What started off simply as a spontaneous adventure ended up becoming a tale of relationships that one after another began to shape Guevara's perceptions of Latin American politics. Seeing the Native Americans persecuted and treated like objects no different from cattle, talking with many of the mine workers who sacrificed their health and some their lives for meager wages. Being inspired by the Incan ruins and the former greatness of that...

Princess Diaries - Character

...Amelia struggles with her new role in the world as Princess of Genovia (a country loosely based on Andorra). For all of her childhood and a some of her adolescence, she prefers to wear combat boots and overalls (though she wears a uniform to school) instead of the designer wardrobe that is expected for her. She is fluent in English and is learning Spanish and French, though she sometimes humorously mistakes homonymous words for one another. Mia often does inappropriate or mortifying things, particularly when she is in public. She bites her nails, obsesses over her cat "Fat Louie" (whom she admits to loving the most in the world; over her mother, friends and boyfriend), is concerned about her life to an exaggerated degree, and writes in her diary whenever she can. After being formally recognized as a princess, she is assigned her own bodyguard, Lars van der Hooten. Her failure at self-actualization saddens and frustrates her. She was a dedicated vegetarian until book #9 of the series. She lives on takeout from Number One Noodle Son and other local Noho restaurants. [edit] Lilly Moscovitz Lilly is a slightly overweight feminist with an IQ of 210 (at last count). She has a "squished" visage (similar to that of a pug) and brown curls, although later in the series she dyes her hair blonde. She is loud-voiced and outspoken, with an extensive vocabulary that Mia cannot always understand. She and Mia have been best friends since kindergarten and Mia lists her as one of her heroes. ...

Motor Cycle Diaries Review

...The Motorcycle Diaries The Motorcycle Diaries was a telling tale about two men and their journey through South American. Unbeknownst too many viewers are the origins of a story that clings on to the legend of Che Guevara. Both Ernesto Guevara also referred to as Fuser, and his companion Alberto Granado set out on an adventure to see as much as Latin America as they possibly can. Fuser is about to get his medical degree while Alberto is a biochemist. These characters stop nothing short of exploiting their professions to garner sympathy or shelter throughout their journey. Fuser seems to be the more tamed of the too, he seems more focused with the well-being of the people he encounters (example the old man with the tumor), and does not use his profession to lie to people. Alberto on the other hand is more of a rumbustious character. He is loud unafraid to voice his opinion and is quick to challenge Fuser on what he believes to be a better way of handling situations. The turning point of the film is when they both encounter peasants who are being persecuted for their communistic beliefs. Fuser had a moment of realization from this and is concerned over the mistreatment of these people. Towards the films conclusion his trip to Peru enlightens his thinking and he acknowledges that the subdivision in a society are what are suppressing lepers. He makes his final journey through the river despite him having asthma. The story concludes with fuser admitting that he knew all along that...

Harry Drinkwaters Diary

...Harry Drinkwater joined a 'Pals Battalion' when the war began in 1914. At this time he was 25 years old. By the end of the war, Harry had served on the Somme, at Ypres and in Italy, writing the experiences in a diary. He wrote about the gruesome occasions he made in war, the never-ending marches through mud, the sleepless nights and the death of his comrades. Harry survived the war and received the Military Cross for bravery. After he got demobbed, he worked as a civil servant. Unfortunately he never got married and died in the year 1978. 35 years after the death of Harry Drinkwater, his diary got released to the public. The article (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2491760/Harry-Drinkwaters-lost-diary-Great-War.html) doesn’t represent the whole diary. What struck me first was the fact, that he went to war by choice. He wanted to serve for his country and put his life on the line for it. Overall, his diary is very interesting, because you get an insight into the everyday life of war back in this time. The thing that made me most sad was the part where he describes the death of one of his comrades. (Tuesday, June 6 1916) I think this is one of most awful experiences a soldier can make. When your companions die in front of your own eyes and you can nothing do against it. Maybe you even blame yourself for it, because you think you could have prevented it. But that is how it is in war. “I could do little else than kneel by his side. He asked me not to leave him...

Even though, Anne died in a concentration camp very weak, she will be remembered as strong for enduring the Germans and staying with Margot until she died. Anne Frank's Diary

...Anne Frank and her diary have become an international wonder; people feel like they truly know the eight Annex members. I have the tragic luck being able to say I knew all of them so well. The van Pels parents always stood out to me when I visited the Annex. They were so ill-natured and could easily stop a crowd. In this case, Mr. Hermann van Pels was the vulgar personality I wanted to try to show more of. Hermann wasn’t brought up much in Anne's diary. Unless, of course, when he was fighting with his wife or trying to appease her. He said, “Are you suggesting that my wife is wrong?!” when discussing who would cut cake. He also had consuming arguments with her over the littlest details. After one particularly disgusting argument, Hermann...

Bridget Jones Diary

...The Film “The Bridget Jones Diary” is about a single women in her early thirties named Bridget Jones who is just trying to get things right in life. She has hit a pivotal moment in her life and wants to quit smoking, lose weight, stop being so accident prone and find a decent guy who will treat her right. She works at a book publishing company in London where she spends most of her time day dreaming about her gorgeous boss Daniel. Bridget already fascinated by her boss comes across a man she once knew as a child named Mark Darcy. Her mom re-introduced them to one another at a new years party. Bridget mom was ruthless and constantly enjoyed trying to set her up with men of her choosing. After this initial encounter, Mark thinks that Bridget is a inappropriate and incoherent and Bridget thinks that he is arrogant and rude. You could say that Bridget has some communication competencies and some incompetencies. The way she conveys messages and body says whatever is on her mind makes her very efficient. Some may possibly see it as incompetent due to the executions and how it may be inappropriate at times. Although Bridget's boss, Daniel was known to be a womanizer, this didn't put any breaks to how often they would flirt and interact at work. Constantly sending little messages to one another and giving each other looks from across the office. At a book release party for her publishing company, Bridget happens to run into Mark and his glamorous “colleague” Natasha. Bridget that...

Freedom Writers Diary

...In the book, The Freedom Writers Diary, some things were not added into the movie. They changed the perspective, so instead of the students telling the story and the teacher secondary, like in the book, the teacher (Ms. Gruwell) tells the story, and the students are secondary. Also, the entries are worse and more horrifying than in the movie, like abuse, drugs, peer pressure, illness, and violence. I think that these changes, in the book version to the movie version, were to have a 3rd person point of view story of the kids, and not a 1st person point of view like in the book. When this story is in 3rd person point of view, we learn the struggle for Ms. Gruwell and the hardships on the students. In the movie, the screenplay writers added in a side story about Erin Gruwell and her husband. I believe that they did this because while the students are out on the streets with their gangs or friends getting in trouble or helping themselves getting better, we want to see how Ms. Gruwell is reacting to the students and what her family thinks of them. It shows what she thinks, wants, plans, and does to help the students and how passionate and caring she is aslo. After seeing the movie, some characters were like how I pictured them from the book, and others were way off. Eva was sort of how I pictured her, but not all of her. Her attitude, her hair, and what she wore is what I pictured of her, but she doesn’t seem like a “gangster”. I also pictured Marcus to look poorer...

The Diary Of Anne Frank

...We all know and love the story of Anne Frank and her famous diary. Her story seems one of a kind, yet with Netherlands State Institution for War Documents already had about 200 similar diaries in 1946 (before Anne's diary was even published), and her own sister wrote a similar diary. If there are so many like hers, what makes Anne’s diary so captivating and memorable to so many? It makes sense that so many know of her tale as her diary has been translated into 70 different languages with over 30 million copies sold. Anne Frank was 13 years old when she went into hiding from the Holocaust. This provided Anne with the firsthand experience to write about the situation she was in at a young yet intelligent age. Diary of Anne Frank

...The Diary of Anne Frank Would you family have the strength to sacrifice everything to stay together? The Frank family did. On July 5,1942 Margot Frank, a shy, sixteen year old was ordered to report to a work camp in Germany. To keep his family united Otto Frank decided to go into hiding in a secret annex located in Amsterdam, Holland with his wife Edith and his two daughters Margot and Anne. The Franks were later joined by the Van Daan Family, which included Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan and their son Peter. Then, Mr. Jan Dussel was the last person to live in the secret annex. These eight people had to live together for more than two years. They had become one big family. The main character Anne, an out-going, loud, sociable, thirteen year old found support to get through the two long years from her father, her older sister Margot, and Peter Van Daan. A father and his daughter have a relationship that nobody and nothing can break. A father and daughter relationship is made up of love, respect, and trust. These three words are the key attributes that make Anne and her father’s relationship so special and unbreakable. Many scenes in the play led to conclude that one of the reasons Anne had the strength to keep a positive attitude and never lose hope during the two years in hiding is because of her father. In Act 1 Scene 2 Anne received a special present from her father. Something that she had always longed for, a diary. This diary was extra special to her because it was given to...

Diary of a Young Girl

...On her thirteenth birthday, Anne Frank’s parents give her a diary. She’s excited because she wants someone—or something—in which to confide all of her secret thoughts. Even though she has a rich social life, she feels misunderstood by everyone she knows. Anne starts writing about daily events, her thoughts, school grades, boys, all that. But, within a month, her entire life changes. As Jews in German-occupied Holland, the Frank family fears for their lives. When Anne’s sister, Margot, is called to appear before the authorities—which would almost surely mean she was being sent to a concentration camp—Anne and her family go into hiding. They move into a little section of Anne's father's office building that is walled off and hidden behind a swinging bookcase. The little diagram of the office building and "Secret Annex" in the Thursday, July 9, 1942 entry gives us the layout. For two years, the Frank family lives in this Secret Annex. Mr. and Mrs. van Daan and their son Peter (who is a few years older than Anne) are also in hiding with the Franks. Later, Mr. Dussel (an elderly dentist) moves in, and Anne has to share her bedroom with him. Anne’s adolescence is spent hidden from the outside world. She’s cooped up in tiny rooms, tiptoeing around during the day and becoming shell-shocked from the sounds of bombs and gunfire at night. Luckily, the Franks have tons of reading material and a radio. Anne grows in her knowledge of politics and literature, and she puts tons of...
