1.0 Systems Control Analysis and Introduction to Business After making the first visit to the Didde Catholic Campus Center, information was obtained easily about the system environment. The liaison, Vickie Hayes-Walworth, was very helpful and was able to provide insight into the systems occurring at the center. Didde Catholic Campus Center is a nonprofit organization. It is a church that focuses on the students, faculty, staff, and alumni of Emporia State University. This year will mark the 25th anniversary of having the building and business. It started in 1990 with first construction and now in 2014, on the edge of 25 years, the center held a logo contest to acquire its new logo to be implemented as soon as possible. Anything of importance to the organization is behind a locked door and remained locked unless in use. Didde Catholic Campus Center ensures that any materials or equipment is related to data-processing operations if it is near the computer. Also, any paper supplies are kept to a minimum outside of storage in metal files. Other controls in place are having internal auditors and security officers being employed and an emergency checklist. In utilizing character and sign checks, the programs will be able to distinguish whether the correct information is made in the entry and whether it should be positive or negative. With the use of reasonableness, limits, and arithmetic checks, the organization can verify the amounts in entries and make sure they cannot exceed a certain limit. Security is vital to all computer systems and the areas of the Didde Catholic Campus Center need to work on are having a complete backup plan formulated, changing passwords on a regular basis, logging all unsuccessful attempts at entering the computer system, and having a procedure to prevent viruses. Each of these ideas will help the system become better adept from losses to the organization. In regards to the Didde Catholic Campus Center’s cycles, they could have the volunteers count the collection at different times to verify that the final number is correct. The other parts of the cycles seem to have a good separation of duties and checks to validate the different aspects of the business they use. The most important thing for them to do though is to continue striving for the appropriate level of authorization and matching that to be beneficial in maintaining reliability of the cycles in the company.
