Weight Watchers has been around for years and is currently offering several programs to support both men and women in achieving their goal weight loss. Weight Watchers works on a “points” system where each item they eat is provided a point equivalent and they subtract points throughout the day from a points total. This total is determined by a formula that takes into consideration the participant’s starting weight, age and activity level. One of the best features of the Weight Watchers program is that they can eat any foods that they like as long as they deduct the points value from their daily total. The program teaches participants how to control portions and establish a well-balanced diet to support their goals. Most fruits and vegetables have a 0 point value. As one would expect, pastas, breads and potatoes have higher point values. They can earn additional bonus points throughout the day by increasing their activity or conserving points by making wise choices. When they have depleted their allowed points, they should be finished eating for the day. With this diet, the goal should be to plan food choices and or even plan the week to ensure they have enough points in their bank. If not, participants may become frustrated or even worse; they may be hungry and abandon the diet.
While Weight Watchers provides participants with an all you can choose buffet, Rapid Weight Loss is very strict about the source of their foods, the amounts of calories they eat and even the volume of carbohydrates and fluids that they consume. To begin the program, participants have to commit to eating only chicken, turkey, fish, shrimp, eggs, and cheese for the first four days of the diet. Eating limited amounts of these low carbohydrates, high protein foods will force your body into a metabolic process called ketosis. Ketosis is basically when your body begins to burn fat
